I think that our school should not participate in "Shut Down Your Screen Week" . Everyone uses the Internet and I think you use it too.But it is not bad to use the internet. I will tell you why. The internet can be used for socializing with people in the article "Social media as a Community" it says that" An average user of a social networking site has more close ties and was half as likely to be isolated as the average American."Social media makes you have more friends than people who don't use social media. Social media users also know people from a greater variety of backgrounds.
Everyone uses The internet ,I do too, I use it for homework to research things such as space. Who would go to the library and get books about space
The idea of not using any technology for a week is unpreferable. The technology that we use on a daily basis, is how we communicated with people outside of our own homes for the past seventy years. We talk to every with texting, and entertain ourselves with television, Youtube™, and Netflix™, we do homework on our computers, and we everything from google without Google. Our technology is only taking the personal part of our lives out of the question. So, we should partake in Shut Down Your Screen Week at our school.
Parents and teachers in our local school district have proposed that the school joins a movement called “Shut Down Your Screen Week.” They claim that not using technology for a week and the Internet would enhance learning because it develops your mind better. The contrast that the other side has to that is that the Internet provides fast and quick answers to questions, and has a lot more information and it is accessible much faster and easier. The “Shut Down Your Screen Week” would be good for students to do because it allows to learn more, and not get distracted.
Shari Veil additionally in her article states, “social media websites attract millions of users, many of whom integrate the sites into their daily lives and business practices…social media allows users to connect with peers by adding them to networks of friends, which facilitates communication, particularly among peer
“shut down your screen week”. is a proposal from a group of parents and teachers, who believe that shutting down your screens for the week would be a good idea for multiple reasons. The teachers have decided to ask students about their opinion on this topic.
Could you go a day without your electronics? Some schools have implemented a program called “Shut Down Your Screen Week.” This is a program where students boycott using any electronics for one week. With the entire body participating, the reliance on technology devices is diminished. More schools should join this effort to reap the benefits of increased student focus and an increased family bond
Conceptualize a classroom filled with many children. They all remain motionless, except for the nimble movements of their fingers, as they skim the internet, to complete an assignment. Their eyes, glued to the screen, oblivious to the world around them, and sucked into their own. This mind prison can not possibly enhance the students learning capabilities. These screens are preventing students from deep comprehension, and a well maintained behavior. Despite this misfortune, these students still have a chance, to learn and to grow. “Shut Down Your Screen Week” will hold the chance for students to walk, and revive the once barren paths that technology has desolated.
I believe that schools should not participate in the “Shut Down Your Screen Week.” Since the beginning of the twentieth century many things have been automatized. Things like cars, cell phones, computers, and even vacuum cleaners. This is a start of evolution. That is for the good, or the worse, in my opinion, in unknown.
For us, the students, to be fully focused we need no distractions. And the biggest distraction we all have is our technology. In “Is Google Making Us Stupid”, it is explained that in order for us to give quality work we must be in a deep thinking state of mind. This only happens when our minds are calm and attentive. So what this shows is that we definitely need to take part in “Shut Down Your Screen Week”, because it will benefit us since we would be more focused on our school work and not on our
Technology can affect children the most. Technology distracts students and doesn’t give them a chance to think on their own. Our school should be part of the National Shut Down Your Screen Week because it can encourage students to think on their own, keep them focused, and give them a chance a to experience life without technology. If our school participates in the National Shut Down Your Screen Week it will encourage us to think on our own.
Now a days most of our learning are done screens what would happen if all of that got taken away? Schools are participating in a challenging task called shut down your screen week. This is where there could be no technology used in school for a week. Students wouldn’t be able to use their phones and teachers wouldn’t be able to use their computers.
The words that are typed tend to characterize or define most people and what they are saying. An advantage of online communication, like a search engine is that it makes it can make it much easier for the user to search, share and spread the information as soon as it becomes relevant to the media. It would take a lot longer for news to be spread with only using face to face communication. Social media can serve as an accessible way on acting on issues and causes that affect and captivate most people. Social networking services can be used for organizing things and to showcase issues and opinions and make a wider audience aware of them. The internet is something that definitely encourages discovery. If someone is interested in a specific ideas, it is predictable that their interest will be accommodated for by something on the internet. Social networking services have the ability to help people develop their interests and find other people all around the world who share the same interests and ideas. It’s harder to spread ideas with others using face to face communication, because you have to actually be with the person. Anyone with internet access is able to share their ideas and experiences with others which would lead to the introduction of new ideas and that can deepen their devotion of existing interests. The internet is something that is used help broaden
Social networking sites allow you to connect with old friends from high school, family that lives far away, in my case, even in another country as missionaries, friends down the street, coworkers, and just about anyone else you can think of. This can make you feel more connected to the world around you. You can keep up with what everyone is doing and accomplishing in their lives very easily through statuses and pictures posted every day. I have met new family members, whether by marriage or by birth, through Facebook who I otherwise have not had the opportunity to meet. One of my uncles, who recently passed away, had an affair about thirty years ago and did not
One of the distinct benefit of social media is social media helps us to build relationship with new people. We could meet with new people who have the same interests as us and that could be the starting point of a great friendship and/or relationship ( Carlos Vieira, n.d. ). This is because social
Have you ever had a good or bad experience with social media? Have you ever been a part of a protest that was started on social media? I think that social media is a good thing because you can have so much fun on it and even make friends on in. Without that you would be limited to the kids in your neighborhood and in some places there are not a lot of kids that you can make friends with or they do not live close so you have to drive there. That is all fixed with social media. Like recently I have found some friends on social media that I play games with. They are super nice and without social media I would have never had that experience I would have to play be myself all the time and have no one to talk to. But now I have the chance to make friends and have fun with them even tho they live far away. Also colleges and most jobs look at your social media account to see what kind of person you are and if you are able to work so not only can you have fun but you can also potentially make money from it and you can make friends. Things like Facebook are so convenient to talk with friends or family without that we would need to call them and that is just so much harder to do then
You can create new social contacts all over the world, which you could not do so easy without the internet.
