They both come from different feuding families, Kiara comes from the family of Pride landers, and Kovu comes from the family of Outlanders. In Romeo and Juliet, Juliet comes from the family of Capulets and Romeo comes from the family of Montagues. In both the movie and the play there are families’ members that represent each other. For example, the leader of the Outlanders is Zira. She is the mate of deceased Scar and the mother of Kovu. She is the Lady Montague of the movie, who has taken over the leadership role from Scar, who would have been Lord Montague. Nuka is Kovu's older brother, who is jealous of Kovu because he was the chosen one. He is Mercutio because his smart mouth, and impulse brought him to his death. Vitani is Kovu's sister. She is like Benvolio in the beginning, but when she grows up and becomes more like her evil mother.

William Shakespeare’s Hamlet explores and condones the same variety of themes in Disney’s The Lion King. Through a number of events, both the antagonists want to take revenge upon their evil uncles. The reader and audience learn the importance of finding happiness when Simba meets Timon and Pumba, but Hamlet is neglected leaving him to spiral into dark thoughts. Another theme explored by both texts is power and how easy it is to lose what’s all around you as well as the even bigger struggle it is to gain it all back. Both texts have a variety of differences, yet they are very similar which makes them unique. Especially The Lion King, being aimed at a younger audience, it is evident to see how Disney has purposely left out harsh topics, such as suicide, to cater for the indented audience.
The similarities and difference of characters have always brought out emotion and displayed lessons throughout the course of literature. “True love stories never have endings” (Richard Bach). Throughout history, the classic play The Most Excellent and Lamentable Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, has been recreated many times. The play will most likely be recreated a million more. True love stories don’t ever die, unlike Romeo and Juliet themselves. However, this “tragic” ending isn’t entirely their fault. In The Most Excellent and Lamentable Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, several other characters influenced Romeo and Juliet’s deaths, including Mercutio and Friar John, Friar Lawrence, and Lord Capulet.
Juliet Capulet, 14, passed away Thursday, July 18th 1578. Juliet was born in Verona and was the only child/daughter of lord and lady Capulet. She lived a privileged and extravagant life in the Capulet home. She was raised by the Capulet's nurse, who acted as her own mother. Juliet trusted the nurse until she started to speak poorly about Romeo Montague. Juliet last days were surrounded by controversy. Friar Lawrence revealed that Juliet had been secretly married to Romeo leaving her in the position of being engaged to Paris but married to Romeo when she died. Juliet was pronounced dead the previous day, from the potion Friar gave her, and a funeral service was held for her. Later, she was found in the Capulet's vault with Romeo's dagger in
Shakespeare’s tragedies show many similarities. Often, the centerpoint of these stories is love, and how that love is destroyed by the very people that think they are being benefited by it. In the play Romeo and Juliet, the two main characters are so in love that they are willing to end everything because of the other person’s seemingly fatal circumstances. Othello and Desdemona are also very mature about their love for each other, and have the best intentions, until they are ripped apart by jealousy and deception of other characters in the play. Although the marriages in Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet and Othello seem to be have promising characteristics, they are both torn apart because of miscommunication
William Shakespeare's Hamlet is without question the most famous play in the English language. Hamlet is a play about a character's struggles with the opposing forces of moral integrity and the need to avenge his father's murder. Disney's The Lion King is an award winning film about a young lion cub named Simba, and his struggles against himself and reality. The movie, The Lion King, and the book, Hamlet, both have a similar story line. Shakespeare's Hamlet and Disney's The Lion King have similar occurrences such as, the king is killed and revenge is sought by the king's son, the murderers are the king's brothers who want the power of the throne, and many others; but each story is also unique in their own ways.
