Six Sigma Design principles
It was realized by Samsung Business Team that the success of this DMAEV methodology in driving Supply Chain innovation would primarily depend not only on the strength of methodology, but also on relevant business as well as organizational factors. Based on prior experience of Samsung Business team, four basic principles were drawn that would guide all Supply Chain six sigma projects through all the stages of DMAEV:
 Global optimum;
 Process KPI mapping;
 Systematization; and
 Five design parameters.
The complete approach was intended to be kept easy to learn, apply and uphold. Also, the approach had to be molded in such a manner that it readily blends in with the regular flow of work of SCM personnel working on their supply chain projects so that no additional project work is involved.

This training program is branded as SCM Six Sigma BB training and mentoring plan. It includes one week of full time training each month for four months complemented by guidance of SCM Black Belts on some selected projects. The prospective SCM BBs need to finish three such projects in order to get a SCM Black Belt. By leveraging the well-established HR belt structure of six sigma, Samsung aims to remove the shortage of SCM talent which has been the basic obstacle in improving SCM routine. It is expected by Samsung that effectiveness of SCM will improve now when people understand overall six sigma in SCM and ways of enabling it.
