I have checked my grades and they could have been better had I not misunderstood the assignment back in week 1. Nevertheless, my understanding of the instructions has grown and I am learning something new every day. My priorities from here forward are to stick to my schedule and work on my learning style. In order to be prepared for an unexpected computer glitch, I believe you should back up your work to more than one source in various locations. The likely hood of all of your backup sources failing is highly unlikely unless you keep them all in the same place. Hoping for the best and preparing for the worst is something I’ve learned. One thing that stood out to me last week was my skills assessment worksheet. Being honest with yourself
Haydn (2009 cited in Capel et al 2009 page 329) defines assessment as "all those activities which are undertaken by teachers, and others, to measure the effectiveness of teaching and learning".
What is an assessment? Alan Rogers (1994, p172) defines assessment as collection of data on which we base our evaluation. According to Reece and Walker (2008, p5) assessment consists of tests and observations that we, as tutor, use to determine how well the students has achieved the objectives. Geoff Petty (2004, p449) writes that “Assessment measures the breadth and depth of learning”. Assessments are used in all areas and domain of everyday life, whether formal or informal, ranging from taking a written or practical driving test to claims for income support or acquiring life insurance on-line.
The purpose of this document is to demonstrate my having acquired and developed the competencies noted by the College of Nurses of Ontario as possibly lacking in my skills and experience. During my time practicing as a nurse in Ethiopia, I feel I have gained the required skills and experience needed to be accredited as a nurse in Ontario. My time working with a diverse array of clients, as well as in different care settings has imbued in me a range of skills and competencies that I feel make me exceptionally qualified to practice as a nurse in Ontario. During my time in practice, as well as in clinical placement, I have been fortunate enough to buttress my learning with a variety of different
Patient J.B. presented the office with chief complaints of coughs and sore throat that lasted about seven days. These symptoms are typically seen in respiratory tract infection or inflammation that is caused by viruses or bacteria. The initial differential diagnoses included Influenza, cough, common cold, community-acquired pneumonia, acute bronchitis, acute pharyngitis, and postnasal drip syndrome based on the chief complaints. The reason that why these differential diagnoses were considered is because they all have coughs as the symptom. Some of these differential diagnoses have both coughs and sore throat. JD, et al. (2017) states that Influenza A or B viruses can cause a dry cough and sore throat. Troullos,
The children in the 0-11 months class where all either in the sound or babbling phase. On child in particular who was about 10 months old seemed to be in the babbling phase. Whenever talking to him he would reply with “gab” or “bab”; always replying in gibberish. The 18-23 month class one child seemed to be in telegraphic sentence phase. When asked which book he wanted to be read to the class he replied: “The frog one.” The sentences were always short, simple, and where to the
The reasoning for young teens to consider starting their own buisnesses is a great idea. There are alot of teenagers who are smart, ambitious and are very much interested in becoming young entrepreneurs. There are already some teens who have turned hobbies or things they like to make or do into a way to earn cash. In several cases, not only have these ventures turned into more than wonderful ideas but also small buisnesses which became
This VARK assessment was a learning assignment to help me see what type of learning style I have. If I figure out what type of learner I am, I would be able to have better skill to help me in the long run. I took this assessment in my college 105 class, on October 26,2016. This assignment really did teach me a lot about the many learning skills.
Assessment 2 - Analysis and report on the Barrow F.C. and Curzon Ashton pre-season testing data
My interest in providing culturally competent care inspired me to become a nurse practitioner, but most of all the inspirations came from the wonderful diverse patients I have had the privilege to care for throughout my nursing career. My primary objective is to care for underserved population communities. In my career, I have seen lives been cut short that would have been saved if only they had made it to the hospital in time. But because of reasons including lack of health care access, knowledge how to access care, cultural and religious beliefs, language barrier, and fear of being judged by medical professionals led them not seek medical attention.

The study skills checklist assessment identified that time scheduling (spending too much time on social activities, concentration (studying with the T.V. on), listening and note taking (not reviewing my class notes periodically), reading (not picking out what’s important in the text and cramming my writing assignments), as well as testing a exams (losing a lot of points, not studying enough, then studying in a disorganized way) are all the areas of concern for me, which were deemed the most problematic.
