In the Declaration of Independence it claimed that “all men are created equal.” but the people that wrote the constitution had different reasons why slavery was not included. The founding fathers had come up with several reasons why to allow slavery and also reasons why slavery doesn’t really matter. In the Constitution there was several reasons why the people that wrote the Constitution decided to allow slavery to continue and one of the reasons were all the states would benefit from slavery. In most of the southern states slavery was the main way people ran their farm. This made it much easier to produce their crops which resulted in more money. “If the Northern states think about their interest, they will not oppose the increase of slaves because they will profit by selling the goods that slaves produce.” This quote shows that …show more content…

Those examples include they want the nation to be well ordered and that African Americans had on average a lower intelligence level. The historical interpretation it talks about how they want to keep the nation ordered and prosperous. “They thought it would be better to have a united, well-ordered, and prosperous society in which private property would be secure.” This quote shows that the nation would be more organized and secure if slavery was still allowed. Also another reason they allowed slavery in the Constitution is because they thought that African Americans had a lower intelligence levels than the rest of the non enslaved people in the nation. “They thought that the African Americans has on average a lower intelligence levels than the whites did and they would not be able to live in harmony.” This quote shows that the people that wrote the Constitution thought that the American citizens would not be able to work together based on their intelligence levels.
