Slenderwhooves: A Short Story

In the short story “The Fat Girl” by Andre Dubis, the main character Louise is followed from the time she is nine years old up until she has her own child. Her mother ruins her self-confidence at a young age saying to her “you must start watching what you eat” (Dubus 320) when she was only nine years old. Her father is just about the only character in the story who accepts Louise for herself. “She’s a growing girl” (Dubus 321) he would say to her mother when she would limit Louise on what she could eat. Louise has dealt with an endless conflict of how other people feels she should look and eat. Louise is being opposed by society.

I stand and stare in disbelief as the car’s bonnet is crumpled into the bulky metal pole on the side of the road. My limbs are numb and I am drenched from head to toe. The glistening droplets continuously drip off the tip of my nose as I realize how much trouble I’m going to get into. The wind wails around me as if it’s saying “you’re going to be in so much trouble”. The crew’s seemingly austere placidity meant nothing as far as he was concerned- he did not trust any one of them alone with Allie.

Slenderman is a tall faceless businessman. He has a pet squid that eats skulls and vitamin pills. The squid guards a golden egg that holds a map to the magic music note. As the night started Tim started out in character as the Slender man. When he came out of the closest he pushed people out of the room and into the next one while carrying a chain behind him the entire time. His objective was to follow people around the house essentially pushing them from room to room. Later on in the night Tim had to become a guide to help lead participants through the house and explain the story line.

While the rest of the team had fallen asleep, I still laid awake lost in thought. We have already been on this plane for nineteen hours and thirty minutes.
