Hello ladies and gentleman tuning in this evening we have a special topic we are going to be discussing here today. We are going to be talking about the health risks of smoking, why it is an issue and how the behavior reduces the health risk. Alright let us get started now. Long term cigarette smokers are at a higher risk of developing lung diseases, heart diseases and cancer. Quitting smoking can offer some huge health benefits that are long term and immediate. Smoking has many health risks that can lead to a life of deteriorating health and has became such a huge problem around the globe and especially in the US. Just look at some of these statistics, In 2014 seventeen out of a hundred US adults currently smoke cigarettes. That is seventeen
5 million people die from smoking annually, along with 600,000 affected by second-hand smoke. Smoking leads to more deaths than guns and texting while driving. Cigarettes main ingredient, tobacco, has over 4,000 chemicals, 51 of them known to cause cancer. When someone begins to smoke most of the time there’s no turning back, as quitting is very difficult. The nicotine in cigarettes forces you to become addicted to smoking and the more you consume, the more you you feel uncomfortable when quitting. This is what makes cigarettes so dangerous. I think cigarettes are the most harmful invention because it slowly kills the user, but most importantly hurts innocent bypassers.
Is smoking a cigarette like aiming a smoking gun to your head? Absolutely, yes! The photo above, has a very powerful message to be shared with people all over the world. The creator of the picture above is, The American Cancer Society. This is an organization that is trying to heighten awareness of the dangers of smoking, the most threatening danger being, cancer. They also promote relays which help raise money for ads and research. The money raised helps to inform people of the dangers smoking and what the negative outcomes of such a habit. This society also helps with finding treatment options. They are helping people cope with the side effects of various cancers or to advise on health insurance. A certain population of people, particularly young people, see smoking as a cool or hip idea to fit in. The goal of this visual argument is to inform people who smoke cigarettes that they should just hold a gun to their heads. The American people should be against nonsmoking because of the feelings you get when smoking, the chemicals that are involved, and how the cigarette will kill like a loaded gun.
Smoking tobacco is probably one of the worst habits humankind has developed. Originating as a tradition of the Native Americans, practiced mostly on special occasions, smoking has gradually become a kind of mass addiction. Due to the efforts of tobacco companies seeking to increase their sales, people started smoking more and more often; the evolution of a more traditional pipe to a cigarette took some time, but eventually tobacco became more affordable and easier to use (you now simply need to light it up, instead of having to always carry a tobacco pouch, stuff a pipe, puff it, and so on). As a result, deaths and health issues connected to tobacco consumption became a worldwide
People that smoke are the people that get all the unhealthy stuff in a body like cancer and many diseases that can be caused.“If smoking persists at the current rate among young adults in this country, 5.6 million of today’s Americans younger than 18 years of age are projected to die prematurely from a smoking-related illness. Another 100,000 were babies who died of sudden infant death syndrome (often referred to as SIDS) or complications from prematurity, low birth weight, or other conditions caused by parental smoking, particularly smoking by the mother. “Smoking has been around for a long time. The problem with smoking became worse when “production climbed markedly when another cigarette-making machine was developed in the 1880s by James Albert Bonsack, which vastly increased the productivity of cigarette companies, which went from making about 40,000 hand-rolled cigarettes daily to around 4 million.” Smoking is a problem around the world because it causes lung cancer, many other cancers, and some horrible diseases. This problem should be solved because “More than 10 times as many U.S. citizens have died prematurely from cigarette smoking than have died in all the wars fought by the United States during its history.”
Guaranteed health deterioration, pollution, and rapid aging and appearance deterioration; does that appeal to you in any way? No, great! So, please remove cigarettes from your life. Dare to be different. Inspire others to learn about the risks of this deadly substance. Dare to make a difference. Daily cigarette smoking is considered substance abuse. Yes, substance abuse. I am not just emphasizing alcohol and other illegal drugs, cigarette smoking too. Why? It is simply because it possesses serious consequences as some of the widely recognized substances except cigarettes are not widely accepted by many to be as equally dangerous. Why are cigarettes effects ignored? The general public has deemed cigarettes to be unequally dangerous as other substances without any proven evidence to support their claims. Needless to say, the evidence currently presented by experts from scientific experiments has proven otherwise. Again, the public decided to ignore these facts. Now, many would respond to my claims by indicating “you are just an advocate attempting to persuade the general public of your opinions.” Yes, I am an advocate and will remain to be an advocate. If I can change one person, I have achieved success because one person can make a difference. That one person can inspire another person and that person can move on
Tobacco has been growing in the United States for about 8000 years. It is believed that close to 2000 years ago, people would chew and smoke tobacco. It was particularly popular during cultural and religious ceremonies, however as the years have passed it has more commonly used now as an addictive over the counter drug providing smokers with a quick fix.

A compromising view on smoking reveals that “biological factors involved in smoking relate to how the brain responds to nicotine. When a person smokes, a dose of nicotine reaches the brain within about ten seconds. At first, nicotine improves mood and concentration, decreases anger and stress, relaxes muscles and reduces appetite. Regular doses of nicotine lead to changes in the brain, which then lead to nicotine withdrawal symptoms when the supply of nicotine decreases. Smoking temporarily reduces these withdrawal symptoms and can therefore reinforce the habit” (studyhealth.com). This cycle encourages smokers to be addicted to nicotine and when they become dependent, it begins to affect the health drastically.
A child in the passenger seat of a car watches a person smoke a cigar, and saw the fume going into the air. Little does he know that the person is polluting the air. Yes, Cigarette smoke does causes pollution in air. Although a single cigarette is small in size, it’s amazing that it’s a major source that contributes pollution in the air. The gases emitted by the cigarette is made up of hazardous chemicals such as benzene and carbon monoxide some of which are carcinogens – cancer causing. The smoke of the cigar pollutes the air in vast way because there’s a large number of people smoking. When the smoke raises to air it later causes health issues among human because we breathe the polluted air.
Hi everyone. According to therealcost.com, smoking kills more than 480,000 people a year. That is equivalent to the population of New Orleans. That also means that smoking causes one in five deaths. In my 18 years, I have known a few life-long smokers so I have seen the negative effects first hand. Today I will be discussing why you should stop smoking cigarettes. First, I will explain the many health risks, then I will talk about how it alters your appearance, and finally I will explain how it affects those around you.
In many cases, there are smokers who decide to stop smoking and change their lives for the better. An example is David Sturges, who is an attorney and lung cancer survivor. In 2002 David had been diagnosed with a small, malignant tumor in the lower lobe of his right lung-lung cancer. David was fortunate enough to undergo surgery and through his hard journey of recovery survived. Throughout his journey, David recognized that lung cancer is a branch of cancer research and is now traveling the world informing schools, organizations about the suffering f of lung cancer. He travels to schools, conferences, and workshops talking about how smoking challenged his life and raises funds for development in lung cancer research. This is just how one life changing surgery can help one man influence many. (Lung Cancer Foundation of America, 2016)
The effects of cigarette smoking can be horrifying. Smoking is dangerous not only to those who smoke, but to non-smokers and unborn children as well. Cigarette smoking is also physically and socially harming.
A lot of people smoke, and somehow are comfortable doing it in public places. I’m not the one to be pointing any fingers, but I don’t think it’s in anyway nice to blow smoke in the air with other people around you. It’s very rude and inconsiderate. Smoking in general is disgusting, but if you choose to do that’s your personal choice. We’re all looking for something to fulfillment, and I believe that you can’t find that were a cancer stick in your mouth.
Cigarette smoking is something people all over the world have been doing for about 2000 years. Back in 2003, the first electronic cigarette was successfully created by a gentleman named Hon Lik. Lik was a 52 year old pharmacist at the time, whom of which was also a smoker. The inspiration behind making the electronic cigarette came after Lik’s father passed away from lung cancer due to him also being a heavy smoker. “A Historical Timeline of Electronic Cigarettes.” cassia.org. Consumer Advocates for Smoke Free Alternatives Association, 15 June 2017. The idea behind creating this device was to give smokers a way to still ingest nicotine, the most addictive chemical in tobacco cigarettes, without the countless negative health effects that
