When we were given this assignment I was very uneasy about talking to another person about personal matters. Let alone someone who I had never had a conversation with and was of a different race and ethnicity. My interviewee's name is Micheal. He considers himself black of African American descent. According to him, his biological parents became a problem within his home. This is a common problem in cities where there is more segregation. Minorities end up living in concentrated areas. The area then suffers from high crime, drugs and lack educational opportunities. Low income and lack of employment for minorities pushes to confined living. Racism and discrimination toward these groups reaches high levels of poverty in retrospect becomes the primary reason of public housing. People of different race or ethnicities have a harder time getting approved for a rental home or purchasing a house. “ In the United States, public housing is a federal program that houses 2.4 million people of which 69% are racial and ethnic minorities and 46% are African-American,” according to authors Simning, van Wijngaarden, and Conwell. Based on comments done by Michael the research that has been done toward segregation seem to be true true. He says that she would always be outside just watching them play. Always keeping an eye on him. The neighborhood was so tough, she wanted him to have friends and play like any child would. He says his grandmother always reminded him of coming into the house as soon as darkness started to fall and never go down the sidewalk of certain blocks. He recalls sometimes hearing gunshots while he slept. He says he knew even at a young age who he could befriend. Michael says learned very quickly who he should stay away from. He remembers drug abuse inside his home. He does not go into great detail but one can tell how bad the situation was by his expression as mentions it. When he was removed from the home of biological parents he says he now knows it was for the best. He claims that when he started building a relationship with his mom and dad life started to be different in a lot better ways. There is no communication between him and his biological siblings. They all went their separate ways and they’ve all build a life of their own. Michael says he really does not know them at all. He thinks that the fact that they lived under those conditions and in that neighborhood, eventually were removed from their home and placed with different homes may have impacted those relationships. Living in that environment was hard, however he says he met a lot different and good people of other races and minorities.

Culture is defined as the boundary between different people from different ends of the earth. For my project I had to interview another person from a different culture. This was difficult for me because I had no idea where to start because I didn’t know what made my culture specific to me. I found my interview subject relatively fast and I sat down and asked the questions. I found my subject from my boss I interviewed my bosses boyfriends sister and we went at it.

Bean I should be aware of the issues of conflict of interest. I need to make sure that our law firm has never represented Ms. Bean’s spouse. If this is the case at all I will need to inform her that we are unable to represent her. If I know Ms. Bean personally at all this would potentially cause a conflict of interest. Especially if I personally know her spouse as well. By carrying on this interview it will give me a great deal of insight into hew case and if any type of conflict of interest may occur I need to be very honest with Ms. Bean, as our potential client, because it could cause a change in the outcome of the case all together if she chooses to have us represent her (ABA, Rule 1.7). Of course I need to keep in mind the ethical rule of confidentiality. Whatever Ms. Bean shares with me is confidential, so it is only to stay between the firm and herself and she should be comfortable in knowing she can tell us anything and it will never leave the law firm (ABA, Rule
Residential segregation exists because of personal choice, segregation by law, and discriminatory practices (Walker, 2007). Some neighborhoods have kept their racially homogenous identities, initiated by lawfully enforced segregation during the pre-Civil Rights era and many choose to live with those who look like them or whom they share similarities. Others have been victims of discriminatory housing practices by real estate agencies, banks and financial institutions, such as Wells Fargo, who offer minorities sub-prime loans and steer them toward non-white neighborhoods (Class Video, 2014). These discriminatory policies are also a reason that racial inequality exists between whites and minorities.

They are focuses on the three theories. The first theory involves individual choices, arguing that most people generally prefer to live in the same social or ethnic neighborhood. The second focuses economics arguing the spatial awareness of racial groups reflects the financial status of groups. The third theories focuses on a range of biased private practices and public policies that limits housing opportunities for minority groups and serves to create and be responsible for segregation housing. The field of Social Work spans across many domains and research plays an important part in growth of knowledge and development of policies and programs. In many cases, research is used to evaluate the effectiveness of the implemented programing within colleges and higher governing institutions in addition to assessing the needs of a community and helping to implement funding sources for services that enhance the wellbeing of community members.
