Probably one of the more prevalent arguments in the past five to ten years is that of the effects of social media. Is it something we should avoid? Does it affect our personal lives? Is it a detrimental or advantageous tool for society? There’s a wide variety of opinions on the matter, and while many arguments have been made defending (and attacking) both sides of the controversy, research and experiences show that social media is an invaluable asset to our lives today.

Social Media is affecting our society in a negative way. From being the number one cause of divorce, ruining people’s careers, and being a haven for teen suicides, many misfortunes arise due to social media. People may not notice its damaging side effects yet it is slowly but surely proving detrimental to all involved in the game. By taking a step back and maintaining self-control, any human being immersed in the frenzy of social media can enjoy its perks without getting caught up in the whirlwind of unfortunate events.

Many adolescents viewing these ads or reading these magazines are constantly comparing themselves to these women. It feels almost impossible to be just like these models. This is most likely a result of these women being airbrushed and enhanced to appear to be exceptionally more flawless than they actually are. The standard of body shape that the media presents influences how people view themselves, and can possibly lead to long term health issues.

Social media can be accessed via these devices and has the potential to connect people, but it also contributes to the idea that social media is causing humans to lose their ability to communicate effectively. There is also evidence that suggests that antisocial traits and mental illnesses can develop after prolonged use of social media. However, social media also connects people around the globe, allowing for increased understanding of cultures and an increased ability for someone to find another person of like opinions and interests. Although there is reason to believe social media has its benefits, it is making humans increasingly antisocial and the risks outweigh the benefits.

People have divided into two group toward this issue. Some people think that social media has contributed to make their life better.

This generation is always on the phone, eyes are stuck to the computer. Girls are making duck faces and guys are throwing peace sign in all their pictures. Young impressible minds constantly streaming the web; copying what they see on the internet believing they can do it better. The problem is clear as day. Social websites tend to change certain characteristics of people. Some of these characteristics can be for the better or for the worse. And most of these characteristics are affecting the children the most, since they are the most impressible. And sadly accidents and death has been happening; but there is a bright side to these changes of characteristics. Thru my research I was able to find three website that had most effect on changing of characteristics. This proves my theory of through social networks dramatically has been changing people.

On the topic of social media some say it is great and has many benefits; however, others believe there is more harm than good in using social networking sites. This is important because we base our decisions on what we know. We must be careful with our sources of
