The sociological imagination is the ability to see oneself as an individual person while maintaining an awareness of the societies they are a part of. This means looking outside of ones own life and personal experience and seeing how they fit into the bigger scheme of things. This might include looking at how you compare to the social class in our country or even seeing yourself at a citizen of the world. When we use our sociological imagination we stop looking through the lense that is made up of our stereotypes and biases. It allows us to see the world through the eyes of everyone.
