I believe that every job is considered dreadful if it’s not a job that I absolutely love. The worst job that I have ever had was as a carhop server at Sonic Drive-In. While working as a server I despised the weather conditions, the tip policy, and the late hours. First, what I hated most about the job was the inclement weather conditions. For instance, it did not matter what the weather conditions were, the servers were responsible for delivering the customer’s meal to the drive-in stalls. During the summer season the servers have to constantly deliver food in scorching weather. It would be so hot that I felt like I was standing on top of the sun. Not only did I have to deliver food while it was hot, I also had to take the orders out on cold
My first job is at a trucking company located in Derry. Adding a job to my schedule now was not too stressful because it was only the first week of my junior year. Also by now in high school everything is predictable the first few days of instruction. We start the first few days of instruction going over the course material and expectations. Thus, letting me have more free time in the afternoon the first week. I started my first shift on a Monday, it was so hot outside. I can remember seeing the heat rise off of the truck hoods. I restored headlights and washed a couple of the box trucks there for the day. I was surprised how easy this was, and remember going home and telling my parents “This is the easiest job ever”. I was beginning to get a taste of what it is like to have a job.
I enjoyed that job so much, because every day was exciting and different. It was so neat to me to meet people for short periods of time. They would come into my line and I would give them the best, fast, and efficient service as possible.
The job itself isn’t bad, depending on the shift and the day anyways. Our duty is to cook food in a fryer, oven, rotisserie, slice meat and cheese on a slicer, serve customers, wash dishes, and the list could go on. For example, if there is a night shift there 's a long list of things we have to clean. If the staff work together, we’ll be able to leave work early. For instance last night we were able to get the job done. Megan and I were the only ones there to close the store last night. We are normally supposed to have three people closing and Megan was sick so I had to do a lot of cleaning. She hated the fact that she kept asking me to do things, but I really wasn 't doing anything. Like the phrase same stuff, different day. That 's not how it 's said, but you get the idea.
The author communicates how dreadful the actual job is but that is not the worst part (Braaksma, 2005). The worst is the lack of stability in this type of career and the possibility to lose your job in an instant (Braaksma, 2005).
I was the first female clerk that worked full-time. It wasn't very good there. Men mistreated me. They spit on me!
I worked for McDonald's as a crew member and cashier from August 2014 until March 2015. I averaged between 4-12 hours a week. My posititons included taking customer's orders from the front register and drive-thru window. I also handled money and gave the customers their food. In addition to this, I also worked at Bombs away Inc. as a store clerk from March 2015 until June 2015. I averaged 6-9 hours a week. My job was to keep the store tidy, fold clothes, and stock
The running around back and forth serving several tables at once, to dealing patiently with outraged customers. To top it off they get paid ridiculously low wages.
Previously, I was the Head Pool Attendant for the Ramada. My job was compose of making schedules for my co-workers.
It was only a seasonal job, so they weren't too picky with their hiring and within a month I was hired and put to training. Training was fun, it was I working like everybody but somewhat supervised. After the training I'll be honest, I hated working there. I couldn't stand having to put clothes away for four hours and barely being able to talk to anybody besides a passerby customer who would politely brush me off every time I asked the required, "Do you need any help with anything? No? Okay, let me know!" It got old real quick. I missed the constant interaction I got with the kids I used to
My job was in the kitchen, there were also other members of Key Club doing other activities such as giving backpacks filled with clothing for the harsh winter approaching. My job was to put hot dogs in a bun and then pass it down to the next person in the assembly line. It may have sounded simple; however, it was complex, some people had different dietary needs due to religious backgrounds. Some people who received the food were grateful, while others were impatient, the room was filled with diversity and people of all ages and from all
The purpose of this question was to make learners think about how you can deal with a task you don’t enjoy doing. Would they moan and be miserable or choose to be upbeat and complete the task in a positive manner.
Thump-thump, thump-thump, thump-thump. My heart began to race as I climbed in my truck early Monday morning. Anticipation grew inside of me at the thought of starting my new job. Would it be difficult? Would I get frustrated? I kept asking myself these questions, but I didn't want to know the answers. All the confidence that I had built up before that day had diminished and I was left with dread. I tried to reassure myself that it was just a summer job and that I would never have to go through it again, but my anxiety had already overcome me.
It wasn’t until the end of the day that Susan pulled me aside and gave me some good advice. In her words, “People in the store are going to drive you mad. They are the pickiest, finickiest folks I’ve ever seen. But if you keep a smile on your face, keep calm and do a good job, you’ll survive the day, and we’ll get along just fine.” Even though it wasn’t exactly the greatest advice ever, it was what helped me keep my sanity the whole season I was there. I made some good friends, good money and I realized that working isn’t as easy as it seems. But all in all, it was a good job, and a good
When I worked at Popeyes, my position was a crew member. The atmosphere varied everyday but the one thing that remained the same was the goal of making the customer happy and satisfied. When I arrived, I had to log in and look on the board to see where I would be working. Most of the time I worked drive thru. Before taking my first order, I had to count my drawer and make sure that it contained the same amount listed on the drawer sheet. After that, I could start my day. When taking orders, I had to remember to
As time went on, things slowly started to get better. With my improved work habits, I slowly began to catch up on school. Also, I began to know my coworkers better, and I get to spend more time with my friend there. Moreover, after knowing how the store functions and learning all the menu items, the work became easier as well. I started to really enjoy this job despite getting some wrist injuries from scooping ice cream.
