The book Sounds & Fury: The science and politics of global warming, By Patrick
J. Michaels. The book is mainly about how global warming is affecting our country as we speak. Michaels talks about how greenhouse gas emissions are ultimately changing the atmosphere along with changing the temperature which will eventually harm us humans. He also states plans we could do using taxpayers money to help slow the global warming problem. The book talks about how over the last decades how the atmospheric temperature has slowly increased a few Celsius each year. Patrick J.
Michaels has some really outstanding credentials. He got his degree in the field of biology from the University of Chicago. He also was on a special graduate committee for his major.

Patrick J. Michaels explains in his book about what he believes is happening each year with the temperatures and what is really needed to control what is happening(Sound and Fury Pg.130-133). I like
Michaels feelings and views on this subject I honestly believe that if you are worried about global warming you should honestly take this book and read it. It has opened up my eyes to another array of things. It will make some one realize just what is going on around you when you are not doing test or studies like a scientist.
This Book Sounds and Fury by Patrick J. Michaels was a truly excellent book. I am very glad I got an opportunity to read it. It really falls into our government class because global warming is a serious concern our government is not taking chances with. The book talks about Greenhouse gas Emissions, It also talks about how taxpayers money to help research for the government and help solve this problem,
Then finally he descuses the rise in temperature from the global warming and the long term effects of that happening. Altogther though I would suggest this book to anyone who is looking to learn a little bit about the government interactions with scientist and

In 2010, Al Gore wrote an opinion piece in The New York Times claiming that global warming is a matter our generation must concentrate on in order to halt the rapid increases of change to our planet’s climate. He creates a strong, convincing argument by addressing and exemplifying issues pertaining to global climate change.
It is often said that humans are the largest threat to Earth, but not because of violence between one another. Humans are the largest threat to Earth because we as a species pollute the air, land, and water of the very planet we call home. Without Earth all life as we know it will cease to exist. Global warming is the product of the pollutants created by mankind. If mankind as a whole does not change its ways we will ruin our one and only planet that is suitable to sustain life. In Warm, Warmer, Warmest an article by Nicholas D. Kristof argues that that “stopping global warming should be the paramount struggle of our time”(Warmer). While researching this topic I used multiple resources to better understand what Nicholas Kristof is explaining in his article. I first looked at a government run website that helped explain global warming and how it is affecting us today. Then I looked at news articles from different news organizations. Lastly I watched a video that explained why we can no longer ignore global warming. All of those resources helped me better understand my research topic and I feel that I have gained more knowledge about global warming.
In Part 2 of the book Field Notes from a Catastrophe, Man, Nature and Climate Change, author Elizabeth Kolbert presents global warming from the perspective that we can learn from the past.
Lately scientists and politicians have stated, that the earth is not merely warming up, it is experiencing Climate Change or shifts in long-term climate patterns. These climate shifts could include air temperature, precipitation, and weather patterns (Baranski). Vice President Al Gore, is a leading advocate of climate change. His book and documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, has been rewarded for, “informing the world of the dangers posed by climate change” (“Al Gore”).
He wrote, "There is no consensus, unanimous or otherwise, about long-term climate trends and what causes them," in the Wall Street Journal. The fact that Global Warming, if it is a problem, is such a little problem that such high attention for the Kyoto Protocol leads to it being laced with alternative power hungry plans. The seriousness of the hidden agenda of environmentalists must be considered in the prevention of the Kyoto intervening in our sovereignty. The Protocol -- it seems-- is not about global warming at all.
Tim Flannery is an internationally acclaimed leading scientist, explorer, conservationist and global warming activists in Australia. As a prolific writer and a leading thinker, he gained a more reputation for his provocative ideas on climate change; also written many books, particularly The Weather makers (2005), as well as the Atmosphere of Hope. He was the chief Commissioner of the dismantled Climate Commission in 2011. Flannery was named the Australian of the Year in 2007 for his an unrivalled reputation for professionalism and integrity.
Global warming is the greatest issue facing our planet and it has been acknowledged and discussed by many scientists throughout the world, yet ignored and unresolved. It has created a catastrophe and has produced immutable destruction to the environment and society. For years, global warming was a scientific theory that was not taken seriously, except by scientists, but now many are being aware that the temperature of the earth is increasing due to negligent acts of society. Society has now started considering it as a significant issue that may endanger their surrounding atmosphere and their lives. "Easter 's End" by Jared Diamond discusses the vanishing of Easter Island 's forest by the society that once lived there and which has now been left as a mysterious and isolated Island. Similarly, Margaret Wood 's "The Weather Where We Are," tackles climate change and how it is effecting the Arctic, due to the absent-minded acts of humans. Moreover, "Is it Warm in Here" by David Ignatius conveys the importance of environmental changes like global warming and its effects on the planet. The similarity that all these articles include, is that society destroys itself, yet chooses to ignore it until it is too late. Global warming represents a crucial threat to all living things on earth and it is all because of society.
The world issue of climate change can easily be misunderstood, as criticists of this issue consider the horrific natural events that occur around the world, to be natural. These such evets include, volcanic activity, tornadoes, hurricanes and even drastic sea levels rising. In the novel, This Changes Everything, Klein explains that yes, the warmth of the planet does naturally increase over time as the cycle around the sun gets closer and closer, and because of natural radioactive decay.
Stewart Brand’s Whole Earth Discipline is clear, direct, and challenging (especially to traditional environmentalists). Because Brand was an early ‘Green’ he has a unique perspective, and a seeming obligation to dispel commonly held beliefs that he believes keeps people from addressing climate change. Brand not only backs up his research in excruciating detail, he touches on a host of modern and traditional scientist and thinkers and even poetry to support his arguments. For the most part,
The causes of climate change are many, varied, and complex and documenting the many voices in the debate is an effective strategy. Montenegro understands that each writer speaks from a unique point-of-view which is influenced by their scientific work. Since each writer approaches global warming from a different perspective, each message reveals a different facet of the issue. Exposing the reader to multiple viewpoints broadens their access to information and increases the chance that the message will persuade them. This matters because a person’s response to an issue is unique, so exposing them to many sides of an argument is beneficial. In this example, the human response to climate change is critical. Our beliefs, attitudes and knowledge

With another example, he showed that from the 1850’s to 2008 green lands glaciers have retreated over 35 miles and the speed that they are retreating has increased double ever since. He goes on to show that if we keep dumping fossil fuels into our atmosphere the earth’s temperature will continue to rise. He then quotes that “95% of glaciers in the world are shrinking”. In another topic related to climate change Al Gore explains how climate change could lead to more catastrophic rain storms which then leads to floods and shortage of food and water supply. Due to our increase usage of fossil fuels we have recorded our hottest years throughout the 21st century while also recorded our hottest year in human history in
The Global Warming Debate encompasses one of the most complex systems in our natural world, the Earth’s atmosphere, so it is very important to understand the basics. In the book, The Science and Politics of
According to Johnson (2010), the issue of climate change has been hotly debated from two main viewpoints: that global warming has resulted from human activity on the one hand; and that it is a myth resulting from flawed research and unverified scientific findings. Those who hold the former view accuse those of the latter persuasion that they are concerned more with perpetuating the fossil fuel industry than creating a safe environment for future human generations. The other side, in turn, are of the opinion that the public is far too susceptible to believe whatever they are told as soon as the scientific label is placed on it. Because of these two widely divergent opinions, the issue has been shrouded in uncertainty for many, with a third group believing that global warming does exist, but that human activity is not necessarily the main culprit. This opinion holds that natural events such as volcanic activity creates far more heat and greenhouse effects than human activity could hope to achieve. Hence, this group holds that there is little that can be done about what is essentially a natural process.
An important concern in the area of science is global warming. This subject is a heated dispute among presidential candidates. First and foremost, having a basic understanding about global warming is key. Climate change (“global warming”) is the continuous heating of the Earth. This includes oceans, the atmosphere, and land. (Bradford, A. 2014) According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the Earth’s temperature has risen by 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit within the past 100 years. This number is predicted to increase as time goes on, which is quite alarming. The majority of scientific organizations and scientists acknowledge that climate change is occurring. An important concept linked to this issue is the greenhouse effect. This is caused by the interaction between the Earth’s atmosphere and the
