Central Idea Statement: Jackie Chan is a prominent actor, singer, and philanthropist
Organization: Topical
Introduction
Attention Getter: Everyone loves a good martial arts movie, and I’m no exception, so when I was on my computer in 2012 and came across an article stating that Jackie Chan was retiring from action movies, I was devastated.
Reveal Topic: Jackie Chan is a huge icon in today’s society. Show anyone a picture of him, and they’ll identify him on the spot.
Credibility/Relevance: So it turns out the articles were based on a public statement he made publicizing his new film “Chinese Zodiac,” and what he actually meant was that he was going to cut back on the amount of stunts he does, not completely stop all together. He stated, “I don 't just want to be an action star, I want to be a true actor. I want to get rid of my image ... I want the audience to know I 'm not only a comedian. I can act. Day by day, year by year, I 'm going to show you the real Jackie Chan." The article got me wondering, “Who is the real Jackie Chan? What happened throughout his life and how he got to where he was?” So from what I learned back then, as well as what I researched over the past two weeks, I’m going to be answering these questions and more.
Preview of Main Points: My first and main point is going to be about his acting
Steve Jobs was like the Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell and the Albert Einstein of our time. He not only innovated personal computing, but personal media and communication, iTunes which became one of the most popular music and video retailers and Pixar which was one of his side projects had become one of the greatest animation digital movie creators and software. But all that is a just part of the list of his legacy, because in the end he still left behind Apple which is world’s most valuable company, which is valued at $350 Billion Dollars.
VI. When I was born he taught me to be the strongest person I could be and to do my absolute best at everything I try.
There is a lot of controversy over Caitlyn Jenner receiving the Arthur Ashe Award for courage. While some believe she is worthy of the award, others believe that the award should have gone to someone else. D.L. Hughlye is one person speaking out against Caitlyn winning the prestigious award. He told TMZ, July 17, 2015, that Arthur Ashe founder of the award, showed real courage. Those who receive the award should be the same. Arthur battled AIDS and lived in a time where the South and his profession were segregated. He compared that to Caitlyn putting on a dress to win the award. To D.L., the two aren’t even in the same ballpark. He thought it was a targeted that the late Lauren Hill, a college basketball player who battled cancer, lost to a man wearing a dress. D.L. said that Caitlyn looked like a PE teacher, but his comments went further when he compared Caitlyn to the TV character Mrs. Doubtfire. He said she is as beautiful as Robin Williams was as Mrs. Doubtfire. playing the character played by the late Robin Williams.
A highly influencing person that visited to our school was Bobby Jones. He came to share his story with us on October 23. Bobby Jones grew up in Yankton, South Dakota, with his parents, his brother, and his sister. Bobby came to persuade our students about staying on track and not to go down the wrong paths in life. A powerful message was delivered that day. He had a very specific goal, which was to tell us his story and give us more of an insight to stay focused on life. Bobby Jones had great information for everyone and I will always remember this presentation. He had a unique way of getting the audience’s attention. Frequently, he would do clapping exercises with the audience, which was very fitting due to the audience members who attended. There were middle school students at this speech as well as high school students. In that aspect, I feel as if he did a great job adapting to his audience.

Honestly, both my mom and I--whenever we watch you--I know you haven't done all the plastic surgery stuff, but you look incredible. And I know it's not just the physical. You have lots of joy and happiness with what you're doing, and you have that inner light that radiates out.
When people hear the name Marilyn Monroe, mostly everyone has the same image in their mind of who this woman was. Some of the adjectives people would use to describe her are beautiful, glamorous, iconic, or even dumb. What people don’t understand is that all those words could be just an image that the media created for her. Marilyn Monroe was a troubled young woman who had a rough upbringing that haunted her for the rest of her life. All of that aside, she was one of the most influential people of the 20th century and one of the first sex symbols. People even consider her to be a legend.
Have you ever had a life changing moment? Many individuals have faced life changing experiences like Feng Ru in the “Father of Chinese Aviation”, like Jackie Robinson in ‘I Never Had It Made’, and like Melba Pattillo Beals in ‘Warriors Don’t Cry.’
Started off as a leading vocalist in Jackson 5 at the age of 5. (Remarkable range & emotion)
In class we were shown a recording of the speech, “A call to men”. The first thing I noticed was the title, which made me immediately assume it was going to be a female speaker that was going to speak about feminism; or something along those lines. To see a man giving the speech grabbed my attention instantly. The man giving the speech was Tony Porter, and his audience was mostly women, who made me think, “Is this guy going to be giving a speech about feminism?” While listening to his speech I felt guilty for being quick to judge, because his speech was actually about growing up as a male, and being masculine is today’s society. While Tony Porter was giving his speech, he brought up stories that without a doubt every guy in our class could relate to that left many of us saying, “Wow”.
