“Good morning! Today we will be going to Yosemite National Park. I hope you are prepared…” Eddie, the tourist guide, announced a little too enthusiastically for an early morning after my family and I entered the bus. Taking a seat by the window, I tried drowning him out with my music, and then proceeded to sigh when I could still clearly hear him through my headphones. I was annoyed, but not because I did want to go to Yosemite; I just did not want spend time with the group of loud and obnoxious tourists on the bus. When my family and I first agreed to go on a tour of Yosemite, I was excited because I had never been there and I had heard many positive reviews about its scenery. That day, however, it was hot, I was worried about starting college soon, and all I wanted was to sleep comfortably without a Chinese tourist behind me complaining about the American government. “Great,” I thought sarcastically to myself, “what a fun trip.” When we reached Yosemite, however, my attitude completely changed. Although I was still with the group of loud tourists, I was able to mentally escape from them and my worries for the short duration in Yosemite. The immense cliffs, everlasting sequoias, beautiful waterfalls, and abundant wildlife were mesmerizing and for the first time in a while, I felt humble and small, as if I were just a tiny ant in an incredibly huge world. We, as humans, often forget our relationship with Mother Nature, but this trip to Yosemite had reminded me of this
Planning a fall wedding? Think grand. Grand Canyon or Grand Teton National Park, maybe. Outdoor-loving couples -- and duos seeking a dramatic backdrop without a daunting florist bill -- are turning to national parks for ceremonies. "I do" locales range from Hawaii Volcanoes on the Big Island to Independence Park in downtown Philadelphia, says Carol Anthony, a spokeswoman for the National Park Service. Some parks issue fact sheets on locations, regulations and permit procedures. "There's a wedding almost every day at Shoshone Point," and there were 66 weddings elsewhere in the Grand Canyon so far this year, says Nan Stricklin, who issues the permits. "We get people from London to New Zealand. I just had a call from a wedding consultant in Australia who
At Yosemite National Park I got a chance to truly experience the nature and wildlife around me. The Merced River ran through the valley, and I could hear the sound of the rushing water from far away. I could hear the whistle of the wind and the birds chirping from high up in the trees. The vivid colors of the flowers there were incredible. On top of Pride Rock, there was a splendid view of famous landmarks including the Half Dome. From OMG Point the view of the valley below was absolutely breathtaking. --Some plants and trees had a nice scent to them.-- The Jeffrey Pine tree had a pleasant aroma of vanilla. I also got a chance to smell the fresh scent of earth when rain was falling on the last but one day of the trip. --We got to taste the leaves
The mountains are a beautiful adventure. As you walk up the incline, trees overhang, animals run wild, and rivers roar. All of these are things that keep me coming back to hike. On my most recent hike, while it may have been 100 degrees back home, where I was it was a chilling 40 degrees. As we walked around ten miles up and over the mountain, I took many breaks to catch my breath and take in the majestic scenery. There are also the snow skiing vacations. While you can’t see anything besides snow and trees, the adventure of cruising down the slopes is full of adrenalin. The mountains have always signified an adventure for me. Just like the mountains, life is a beautiful adventure. I do not know yet what adventures are in store for my life, but I look forward to them. I strive to see the beauty in everything.
To entertain the audience by telling them about the best time I ever had in
Hello Mayor Batri, and fellow citizens. I’m Talia Johnson and I’m here on behalf of the entire Local Aboriginal Community. Musgrave Park Can Not be destroyed by property developers and their ‘aspiring plan’ to reinvent Brisbane. I know that amongst us today there are good people, and I know that there are property developers. And, I’ve got something to say to you Property Developers. Musgrave Park is not a patch of grass on a large block of land, it is a crucial part of my Indigenous Heritage. We need to consider not only the Indigenous significance of Musgrave Park Past, and Present, but we must look at the true importance of Brisbane’s Green Space.
Generally when one thinks of the American west their mind jumps to an image of untouched, unspoiled land, such as the land that is represented by America’s national parks. These tourist destinations in the West showcase the history of our nation’s land in a way that many people assume is and has always been the reality, but although the natural beauty of these lands is represented perhaps the beauty of the cultures that used to inhabit them is not.
The first time I every experience the Wildcat Hills was during a difficult time in my life. My parents were going through a custody battle over my siblings and me. They were also both in the process of being remarried. So, when my step father brought us to the Wildcats to explore for the first time I realized how amazing our earth can be. Here in the county known for the Scotts Bluff National Monument, sits over 1,000 acres of land. It wasn’t just the sight at the top of the escarpment that took my breath away. It was the fact that whether you were at the bottom of the hills or the top, when the wind blew that’s all you can hear. It isn’t overwhelming, it is
I look up from my phone after the clock turns from 11:59 pm to 12:00 am and gaze upon Honey Pot Lake as it mirrors the pink and gold clouds illuminated by the setting sun’s rays as they bend over earth's curvature. I take in the beauty of the sunset and await the soon to come sunrise. As i, for the last time, experience the beauty of the pristine nature that bethel alaska has to offer, turn my head towards my adjacent friend and proclaim in a gloomy yet glad tone, “I never want to leave this place.” My experiences in bethel alaska from my two school immersion trips truly formed who I am today.
In their article, “Can the Selfie Generation Unplug and Get Into Parks?” (Egan and Egan), they wrote about the difficulties they faced when they left to experience the calm, natural world in some their national parks. They spoke about the withdraws they felt when they lost their service and that “The NBA finalsthe championship!remained unknown to us in our digital desert. The U.S. presidential campaign was in turmoil, and of course I wondered, What had Donald Trump said now?” (Egan and Egan). Even though they knew they were fixing to set forth on a rejuvenating journey through nature, they were still concerned about the everyday news they hear constantly, and why would they not? Those are the everyday, normal habits they have, but after traveling through the parks and other natural wonders of the world, Casey in his mid20’s revealed that, “It has started to grow on himthe idea that his generation had a duty to ensure that people could stand atop Ryan Mountain a hundred years from now and take in the same things (Egan and Egan). Even though in the beginning of the fatherson trip they were both discouraged about what they had begun, once they took in what they had been missing for so long, they realized that it did not matter what was going on in technological world because they were experiencing something much more rewarding. If funding is cut, and national parks are not preserved the way they should
In our society, we have our ideals set on the values of Yosemite National Park as gateway to explore nature. As Yosemite is a tourist attraction, its breathtaking scenery is one of the marvels that brings people together. As others have seen or heard of Yosemite, only a few can personify and connect with its elements. Yosemite is home to the Ahwahneechee tribe as they live religiously and spiritually.
Times Square in New York City, Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington D.C., and Denali National Park in George Parks, Alaska. The moments I spent in these places are characterized by my ability to roam for hours and just explore. Whether it be meeting street artists who are creating caricatures of tourists, running into John Kerry, finding grizzly bears in their natural habitat, these moments weren’t just mundane hours; they ushered in the notion of mindfulness. Every instant during these trips, I thought of living in the moment and not dwell on the past or the future. The unknown experiences that awaited me as the day progressed in these places correlate my ability to finally embrace one idea:
Yosemite National Park is a spectacular natural wonder. Outdoor enthusiasts of all ages flock to this area of California every year. Since the parks establishment, it has been a worldwide tourist attraction. Upon entering the park, travelers are greeted by marvelous, majestic views. Once in Yosemite, serenity can be found. Yosemite is decidedly one of the nation’s vast beauties.
I am writing to you today to talk about the state of Utah Lake and how to clean it up. Utah Lake is the only lake that is easy to access without going on an hour or longer car trip from Utah Valley. Because of that we should try and make Utah Lake more tourist friendly and better looking. This would bring more people there and make it a better experience to be there.
It took fourteen years to make and it had 400 men make it. Luckily no one died but it looks like it took a lot of power to make. That is Mount Rushmore that I am talking about. Now I think you know what I am but I bet you don’t know all about it besides it can be found in South Dakota and it has four of the greatest presidents in the world.
I chose Disneyland because I've never been there. I plan on going someday in the future and i'd like to know what has happened there. I plan on going someday in the future and I'd like to know what has happened there. I find weird deaths interesting. I also like conspiracy theories because it's interesting to find out so many things that at one point people believed was true. I've heard Disneyland has some weird rules and i would like to know more.
