The title of the Sunday school lesson is Spirit-Filled Heart. The lesson teaches us about the Israelites, and how God gave them mercy. God said that he would give them a new mind and a clean heart. Nevertheless, the Israelites had to obey the Lord in order for him to bless them. The works of the Lord were not done for anyone’s sake, but for his own sake. The lesson teaches me to be obedient to the Lord. The Lord will create in you a clean heart and mind if you obey what he says. The Lord wants to deliver us from evil, but we must be willing to seek the Lord. Without God in our lives, it is impossible to succeed in anything. Therefore, give your life to God and he will give you a spirit-filled heart.
In front of an audience of 28 attendees, Pastor Anderson Kim preached from 1 John 4:7-21. He preached "God will greatly blessed zoey with great joy. When you bring up someone you need love. Anyone can be brought up with love, but what kind of love? Love from God first loving us."
Soon the Beekman’s were teaching them to read and write. Mr. Beekman was teaching many of the boys how to preach and tell others about Christ. One Preacher boy said, “ We do servico for Christ because the Holy Spirit compels us by filling our hearts with love.” He wanted to tell everyone about God and His love for them and he did everything thing he could to preach to
Through the book of Fever there is a lot of themes to be learned but the one I learned was "when obstacles come upon your life you can get through them". This theme is so important I hate (I don't use that word often, but) when people say "well I can't do that". Yes you can, you can do anything you put your mind to. I know
Even in the hardest of times, it is in the human nature to find different ways to triumph. The human spirit is strong enough to triumph anytime. There are three vital things that the human spirit uses to survive. For example; During the Holocaust and during World War Two, there were a few amount of people whose spirit triumphed during these terrible happening. The biggest question now is; How does the spirit triumph?
Lessons can come in many forms, some more straight forward than others. In the story “The Lesson,” by Toni Cade Bambara a girl with hate in her heart learns that good things can happen to anyone and in the essay “Commencement Speech, Kenyon College,” by David Foster Wallace he guides us to not live with hate in your heart. Both authors bring up the fact that people tend to be very selfish and annoyed with other people around them. They also suggest that a person can transcend a negative environment through effort. They explain this in different ways which leads to a lesson in both stories.
Each chapter has a different theme to teach the reader. Every chapter ends with a paragraph stating the lesson of the chapter. Although there were so many lessons, there was a few that stood out to me and were repeated a few times. One of the major themes of the book is that even if you are faced with a setback in life, whether it is an injury, grades, or a life or death situation, you have to fight through it and always think positively. If you think positively, take your time, and not rush the situation, you will eventually get through it. Another theme is that if you want to be the best at something, it takes hard work and dedication. When you want to be good at something you can just all of a sudden be good at it, you have to set goals and work for it. You have to set one goal, reach that, and make another goal to reach. Eventually, with dedication, you will make it to where you want to
Chapter 1 is entitled Someone Worth Losing Everything For. In this chapter there are many different incidents and principles that are introduced to draw the reader into a deeper awareness that there are many people in this world that need saved. The first incident talked about was “ Puddles of Tears.” The scenarios in this incident describes leaders meeting in a dimly lit room with all blinds closed. They have come together to discuss prayer needs and inadequacies of how they can relate better and have some answers for the people in their underground home churches. Some leaders talked about their members getting kidnapped while others spoke of losing everything, including their life for the mere cause of following Christ. Puddles of tears fell from their faces as “they audibly wept before God…” Some even
William Safire and James Wood are two different people, with different ideas, different views, but do have similar writing styles. In William Safire’s “A Spirit Reborn” he talks about the Gettysburg Address in comparison to 9/11 and he also analyzes the Gettysburg Address in more depth and has a specific purpose for writing his article. On the other hand in James Wood’s “Victory Speech” he talks about how President Obama flowed through different things, Wood also analyzes certain details of Obama’s speech, and offers some critique.
The Single most important thing I learned in chapter 3 was reciprocity and the four main components of it: mutuality, nonjudgmental, honesty, and respect. I think this is very important because you shouldn’t be rude, judge people, lie to them and disrespect them during any form of communication or interaction.
Most of the other ones are about love or believing, but this one is much more relatable and therefore has a much stronger message. Anyone who has a family, which is basically everyone, can relate to this sermon and will be able to take something away from it. They will have learned something about forgiveness and in my mind they will be a better person having read it. I personally believe that I am a better person having read this, because I know how important forgiveness is now. Even when it isn’t the immediate thing to do, sometimes it’s still the right thing to
hearts to allow God to work through them. As I sat in my seat listening to the pastor call upon
The Bible speaks almost three hundred times about the heart. It tells us about the condition of man’s heart, what God does to our hearts and the expectations of our hearts.
We've all heard the dismissing comment made by many in the managerial ranks that "I don't care what people think of me." Well, it may indeed be true for them, but it's not true of the best leaders. The best leaders want to be liked, and they want openness from other people. Not caring how others feel and think about what we do and say is an attitude for losersan attitude that can only lead to less and less effectiveness.
After we sat down and chilled. The title was “Believe”. Jaden and I shook our heads as if you were saying yes and said ok in a confused voice. What the picture she put in our heads is that image if you were a tree you need to dig your roots in the soil so if a storm comes you can stay on to him if he was the soil. I took lots of notes about the sermon. The main key thing was about how we need to believe in him and trust in him when we are going through something rough times, and we need to take his hand and go through this journey with him instead of
When you live with me and my family and you hear the sound, "beep, beep, beep", coming from upstairs, you know its mom cooking in the kitchen again. You head up the stairs and you see smoke everywhere, all the windows are open, and there she is standing on her tip toes waving a dishcloth by the smoke detector trying to get it to stop. This occurs probably more than it should at the Maasdam household, however, I wouldn't have it any other way. Even though cooking isn't one of my mom strengths, being one of the most supportive, loving, trustworthy, and having a servant heart is.
