When I first explored SMU, I saw a juxtaposition of a suburban campus in an urban, bustling city. The contrast, SMU's green campus in the midst Dallas' vertical grey city streets, fascinated me. SMU’s location in the Dallas allows for the quintessential campus environment and the resources of a global capital; this makes SMU truly special. SMU has the ‘tangibles’ I am looking for—a strong, hands-on business program near a major city. Through SMU and the Cox School of Business, I could partake in applied learning through a phelora of programs, including the Ann Rife Cox Fund, Tate Lecture Series, and BBA Scholars Program. SMU’s proximity to Dallas provides direct access to the business community. After visiting SMU in November, I knew that
Throughout my experiences on campus, I have met members of the UMD community from all walks of life. From international students to members of the LGBTQ community, UMD is a melting pot of cultures, ideologies, and identities. The beauty of the University of Maryland is that with all our differences, Terps has similar traits. We are passionate, problem solving individuals seeking to make the world a better
The boundaries of campus are marked by Northeastern banners on buildings along the perimeters, tall, eye-catching dorms, and diverse populations. The modern buildings labeled with red and white Northeastern signs along with thousands of students from a variety of backgrounds and countries are clear boundaries of where the Northeastern campus begins and where the surrounding neighborhoods end. Northeastern University has created a vibrant community of students that partake in research, community service and coops both at home and abroad that greatly differs from the neighboring communities at schools like Boston University, Wentworth Institute of Technology and Berklee College of Music. Northeastern is not just bordered by other institutes, it is also bordered by local communities and neighborhoods in Back Bay, Roxbury, and Fenway. These local communities may be physical borders, but they are just as engaged with the Northeastern campus as the students are. Locals reside in apartments and eat at restaurants located on campus and, likewise, Northeastern students engage in service learning and community service off
In the summer of 2017, I had visited Wilkes-Barre, Arcadia University, Temple University. Wilkes-Barre and Temple had the urban atmosphere that I craved for college. Living in York, where there is farm down the street from my house, I needed to experience fast pace, never sleeping aspect of the city. With this in mind, it disappointed me how much neither Temple nor Wilkes awed me. I could see myself going there, but I could also see myself not. Another impediment was that it is only one hour away from my parents.
When people hear the word “college”, many panic inside at the thought. But, when I hear the word “college” I think about Illinois State University. In early July, I attended an Open House at ISU for my very first official college visit. As I stepped onto campus, I couldn’t but help to feel like it was my future home. Many aspects of the tour made me draw nearer to choosing this college after finishing my High School career. Illinois State University seems to fit my personality very well, has an amazing program for what I want to study, and is an outstanding campus for my academic strengths and weaknesses.
“The Campus Beautiful” is a phrase coined to describe the plan that has been implemented to sustain Eastern’s campus, community, and classrooms. Goals set within the plan impact students learning and living atmosphere and can be greatly influenced by their decisions. The initiative lead by University President Michael Benson ensures environmental prosperity and sustainability. Eastern Kentucky University’s campus is changing, and students are witnessing their school shift in real time.
Throughout history, America has been referred to as the Melting Pot of the world. When I consider all that the University of Texas at Austin stands for, I recognize that the University of Texas is the Melting Pot of universities. It is a place with vision and heart; where diversity is celebrated and possibilities are infinite. There is no greater compliment and I hope I can contribute to the legacy of the University of Texas at Austin.

Delta State University pioneers a path for each and every one of their students by giving them resources such as the international business symposium. Having speakers with very prominent careers, students are given useful insight into the business world, and students learn key characteristics that they need to exhibit in order to have a successful career. These speakers leave a permanent mark on our students and can also serve as a foot in the door for future employment. During DSU’s 2018 International Business symposium, three speakers that proved to be extremely influential were David Abney, Rodney Francis, and Danny Lipe.
As a Wilmington resident of seventeen years, my choice to attend the University of North Carolina Wilmington is ‘without a shadow of a doubt’ an easy one. In eighth grade, I began to seriously decipher through colleges, and attempted to decide which one was meant for me. UNCW wasn’t initially my first choice, but as I got older, matured, did extensive research, and with my college years growing nearer, it became very evident that it was where I needed to be.
A meaningful experience for my college career will be my participation in the St. Joe CEO program. Over the course of my high school, I have determined that I am interested in pursuing a business degree. As I was scheduling my senior year classes, I learned about the Saint Joe CEO program which provides an excellent opportunity. The Saint Joe CEO program is not your typical style class. During the first semester, the classes are held at a variety of local businesses, and corporate officials or business owners discuss the process of beginning and managing a business. During the second semester, the students collaborate in creating a business plan, acquiring the funding, starting the business, and finally marketing and selling your product or service.
I have been on the UTD School of Natural Science and Mathematics Dean's List for every semester I have attended UTD. This is awarded to full-time students with a GPA in the top 10%.
Saint Louis University is located in Saint Louis, Missouri. There are 3 million people living in the metropolitan area of Saint Louis. Some people may think that 3 million people is too massive for a college town, nevertheless, that population may make it even better than a college town. There is a considerable amount of attractions around the Saint Louis area that makes Saint Louis University a pleasurable place to go to college. Conveniently near campus is Forest Park. Forest Park is larger than the New York City’s Central Park. Within Forest Park there are the Saint Louis Art Museum, Saint Louis Zoo, Missouri History Museum, and the Saint Louis Science Center. All of these attractions in Forest Park have free admission! There is also the City Museum, which surrounds you of intriguing
The University of Wisconsin-Madison struck my eye from the very first time I stepped on campus. It was a beautiful morning in November; the air was brisk, the sun was shining, and the leaves were just beginning to fall. Being from Arizona, there were only two seasonal weather patterns that existed: really hot with a nice, cool winter. I had loved every second at home, but I was ready to experience something new.
Scott Carlson’s “For Making the Most of College, It’s Still Location, Location, Location” was first published in The Chronicle of Higher Education on February 4, 2013. Carlson attempts to utilize his article to illustrate the ongoing (and future) success of traditional universities in contrast to increasingly popular (and modestly priced) virtual campuses. Early on he mentions an article he wrote in 2001 about the desertion of libraries in a world of the latest technology and compares how human interaction and modernization alone could save them both. Carlson clearly states his stance on the subject after asking whether “campuses and traditional teaching (could) disappear because we now have MOOCs (massive open online courses)?” After which he answers his own question in the same paragraph by saying: “No because that defies the human yearning for meaningful places and the real benefits that come with them. We see it in the migration to cities and in walkable neighborhoods. We see it most of all on college campuses.” Even tough Carlson utilizes rhetorical appeals of ethos, pathos, and logos
