The 11-Year Long Roller Coaster
Ella Dutton I, Ella Dutton, have officially been a “lifer” at St. Anne’s. From Pre-K to eighth grade, I have continued to be a contributing member of the community. Throughout the years, I have been a tour guide, led an activity period, been a member of Tech Crew, and participated in as many sports as possible, been in three drama productions. I’ve also made many amazing friendships with people who I never thought I would be friends with. At St. Anne’s, I have learned everything from diagramming sentences to how to strive to be the best person I can be. It has definitely been a long, but wild ride at St. Anne’s. The first day of school: a day where I would begin an eleven-year journey full of academics

To start it off, I moved math classes to Mr. Dicker’s, which was one of the most stressful events of my life. Personally, I thought moving up would be much easier than it actually was. I found myself in a constant struggle and had to push myself to my limits. I constantly had to go in for extra help because I got down on myself. All of the hard work, long nights, and stress I put in to math eventually paid of. I ended up getting all As on my report card throughout seventh grade, which I could barely get my mind around. During seventh grade, I participated in volleyball, basketball, and soccer. I played soccer for six years when I was little, but I hadn’t touched a ball since. I knew from the beginning that soccer would be hard for me since I am not foot-eye coordinated in any way. Normally, sports come pretty naturally to me, but soccer was different. I compared myself to other people, but I decided that that was enough. I began to practice soccer almost everyday, and soon enough, I began getting compliments about how much I had improved. Getting good grades and trying a new sport were both amazing experiences, but my personal favorite time from seventh grade was the Colorado trip. The Colorado was not only a break from all the stressful academics, but it was a time where I could bond with new and old friends. Before the trip, there was a group of people who I had never really come in contact with, but during the trip, I made some incredible bonds with these people. Like I said, seventh grade was a time of change, but it was a change that set me up for success in eighth
As I take this chance to reflect, I discovered a truth, the sky is the limit. During my years at St. Luke, I have developed as a student, an athlete, and as a member of the Catholic Church. I believe that everyone brings something special gift to the world, and I believe my gift is that of determination to become a great man through faith and education. I have been an alter server for about two years. Being an alter server has brought me closer to God and my Catholic community. Education has been a big part of my life. I can truly say I am grateful for the opportunity I have had to attend St. Luke. After St. Luke, my plans are to use my education and become prepared to take on the challenges and rewards of high school.
In the days leading up to my school enrollment in high school, I wondered what this new school system would be like and if I could manage to cope and blend in with the rest of the crowd without losing my unique characteristics. Other than that, I was filled with great exuberance beginning to build the foundation of my destined career as a pharmacist at the same time increasing my skills as a woods craftsman.
I have not and will never forget those series of events. This time hurt me but also helped build upon my character. It was my freshman year of high school. I had decided to play soccer, which was not a hard decision for me since I had played travel soccer pretty much my whole life. Also my brother was in high school at the time and played for the boys soccer team, and had my dad as his coach. He loved it and was having a great experience playing high school soccer so of course I like to follow in my brother’s footsteps. I was very nervous at first. There were over eleven seniors on the team, and they were pretty intimidating to me. During the summer, I played with the varsity often and enjoyed it. As I kept playing with them and performing well, my nerves lessened. Finally when the actual season rolled around, I was put on full varsity. All my hard work had paid off. I was one of the two freshman put on varsity. I was ecstatic. I was actually very lucky at getting put on varsity because at this point in my life I played purely out of natural talent. I was never one to put in extra work outside of practice and be disciplined in the way I lived my life. I never really strived to be the best I could be. Making varsity made me somewhat of a threat for the older girls. Some were happy for me, others did not like the thought of a freshman on varsity. These girls were hard coore they were bound and determined to make it to state that year. They were not going to accept anything less than amazing. This put an incredible amount of pressure on us younger girls. I remember going to every practice nervous that I was going to mess up and they get mad at me. I never really felt at ease with them. In the first few games I got good playing time. I was doing really well. I was finally getting comfortable out there on the field, but that was not the direction God was taking me and with one swift kick of the soccer

Finally, I am finished with middle school. Anxiously thinking about the first day of high school, I knew that it would be hectic and wild, but I was ecstatic. Of course, the night before I could not sleep. I lay awake dreaming about how my first day at John Paul II will go. How will it be meeting new people and seeing old friends from last year? Will high school be hard? Will I get lost? I kept thinking about the unknown and worst possible outcomes. My first day of high school was unexpected.
Did you know Clara brown's life was an adventure?there were a lot of ups and downs in her life. The beginning of Clara Brown’s life was to start an up and went a little down. Her accomplishments were almost all ups except at least one down. The end of her life was a down and up.

By the time I got to about fifth grade, everyone started to notice how academically gifted I really was. In fourth and fifth grade, I even joined the spell bowl team. Me and a few other people I knew well were about two grade levels ahead of the rest of our class, mathematically speaking. Then, I got to middle school. It was a big change, lockers, stairs, a very large school it was. It was all very unknown to me, there were really tall kids, and they all had their friends, I had to adjust. By this time, I was still on the gifted academic path, being in Algebra in only seventh grade, a class that is supposed to be for freshmen. My family were always very proud of me because of this, and I had always tried to be smarter than my sister, who was always four grades and a step ahead of me. She was always the teacher's pet, overachiever type of student. School had never really been hard for me, just boring and mentally draining. By the time I was in eighth grade, I had found my true group of friends. There was a few that liked soccer, which fit me really
A serial killer is a person defined as a series of two or more murders, committed as separate events. “They are generally cunning, manipulative, and know the difference between right and wrong but dismiss it as applying to them” (Montaldo, n.d.) We are often captivated by what they have done and not in a positive way but the intriguing part as to “why”. In reality I stop to think what was happening to this person or within their minds that caused them to behave in such a way. It’s said that these acts are due to Abnormal Psychology gratification, this is the unusual patterns of behavior, emotion and thought. After thorough research Dr. Helen Morrison believes that it is due to a chromosome abnormality. Dr. Morrison believes that serial killers begin to start expressing these tendencies in their teen
The summer between my sophomore and junior year was spent as a preparatory period for the following summer. There was significant growth in two main areas, my intellectual and athletic career. That summer in Dale lab was spent learning basic lab techniques, introducing myself to my future coworkers, and continuing to draft a complete methodology for my work. Athletically, I was jumping to varsity basketball. Every day of June was spent proving myself and preparing for life as a varsity athlete. This past summer was a time of tremendous spiritual, intellectual, and athletic maturation. I decided to discontinue varsity basketball for various reasons and pick up American football, something I had always wanted to try. I was also working full time
