Intro
St Peter, some call him a backstabber and others call him the gatekeeper to heaven or the rock of the church, some don’t really care who he is. St Peter was on of Christ’s first followers. He was the most outspoken and enthusiastic disciples, one of Jesus’ best friends, an apostle and a “pillar” of the church.

Simon was born in Bethsaida and lived in Capernaum. Both cities were on the coast of the Sea of Galilee. He grew up under the trade of a fisherman with his older brother Andrew. Upon meeting Simon, Jesus renamed him Cephas, which is Aramaic for rock, which is then translated to Peter. Jesus later called on Peter to follow him as one of his disciples after he produced a phenomenal catch of fish and walking on water.

The Saint I have chosen is Saint Gabriel the Archangel. I chose him to be my saint because, my name is Gabriela and he was God's messenger who told Mary she would be having Jesus. I also chose him because he was my Saint for First Grade Saint Presentation. Gabriel the Archangel is the Patron Saint of messengers, telecommunications, and those who work for the news. I can pray to Saint Gabriel about being a better follower of Jesus and spreading the word of God.
St.Michael the Archangel actually helps people so much even some people today. St.Michael helps people find the courage to face danger and carry on (St.Michael the archangel 12). St.Michael helps/affects people today because he has a prayer which helps and makes people feel stronger every time they pray it (Saint Michael Center 4). People who face danger every day working to protect us find that St.Michael’s medal fortifies their faith and reinforces their commitment to the protection for others (St.Michael the Archangel 12). The Archangel St.Michael is the patron saint of the warrior, who catholics have designated as the protector of those who strive to preserve security, safety, and peace (St.Michael the archangel 1). As such members of
Before Christopher Columbus sailed to Hispaniola with his men, there was a "native Arawak, or Taino, population of three million people or more, well fed, with cultivated fields, lots of children, living in peace...years later, there were fewer than 27,000 who had not fallen victim to the sword, the savages of forced labor, and diseases heretofore unknown to them. The Spaniards called the island La Ysla Española, which in use became Hispaniola" (iacenter.org). Rather than choosing to live together in peace with the Taino, Columbus killed them all of in order to form a new country filled with slaves. Saint Domingue was considered to be a slave island because the economy relied much on both sugar cane production and the wealthy white planters
"What dear brothers, is more delightful than the voice of the Lord calling to us?" ~ Saint Benedict. Benedict was born on March 2, 480 in Norcia, Italy. As a child, Benedict attended primary school in his hometown. However, he then traveled to Rome to continue his studies in literature and law. Appalled by Rome's political issues, Benedict decided to leave the city and reside with a group of priests. In the ministry, he preformed his first miracle. Benedict restored a broken wheat sifter to its perfect condition. Astonished by his actions, Benedict set out to dwell in a cave isolated from society. Consumed by desolation, Benedict's only contact with the outside world was a fellow monk named Romanus. He bestowed Benedict with basic necessities
St. Benedict was an incredible monk that created 12 monasteries and was an abbot for many years. St. Benedict was destined for greatness when he was young and was able to pray for a vase to be fixed. He preformed many miracles and was a man that has greatly impacted Catholicism. He created a Rule that monks, and everybody else in the catholic community should live by. Some rules that relate to my life that I have found are rules about clothing, rank, humility, obedience, and serious faults. Along with finding rules that relate to my life, I have found some rules that would be a challenge for me but would improve my life are amount of food consumed, silence, prayer, repent for reproofs, and impossible tasks.
Life in Middle Ages Italy was very prominent for some people, like Francis’ family. In the 11th century, trade across seas increased, and Amalfi, Pisa, Genoa and Venice became major trading ports italy. The papal power, or the authority and power of the roman Catholic pope, increased. This meant that more people were following the Catholic of Christian religion, and more people were following the Pope.
Saint Benedict was born in 480, in a noble Italian family in Umbria. To be placed in the public schools, he was sent to Rome at the age of seven. He fled to the desert mountains of Subiaco, which was forty miles from Rome, at the age of fourteen. He then was directed by the Holy Spirit into a cave, known as the Holy Grotto. He lived there for three years. Romanus brought him food and clothed him. When God advised a priest to take food to His servant, Saint Benedict was discovered one Easter day. They took their meal together, when the priest search the hills and finally found the solitary. Soon the fame of this hermit’s sanctity began to spread, when some shepherds also knew of his
When asked to write about a saint the one that comes to mind is Saint Luke. The reason he comes to mind is because that is the church we go to at home, St. Luke's Catholic Church. That is the reason why I chose him. For the reason the church we go to is names after him and I always wanted to know more information about who he was as a person.
Despite my experience at St Christopher's, I still dreamed of being allowed to implement just one music program based on apostolic principles in just one Anglican parish in the Diocese. Somehow I knew God would reward my persistence with yet another chance. The call came sooner than I had expected; this time from the Reverend Fran Willis, rector of St. Timothy’s Anglican Church.
Simon Peter is undoubtedly the best-known disciple of Jesus. But how well known is he,
St Dominic was born at the Kingdom of Castile in Calaruegua to Felix and Joan Guzman in 1170. St. Dominic’s mother had a dream before he was born, she said while she was dreaming a dog leaped from her womb with a torch in its mouth and that it seemed to light the world on fire. That’s how his parents gave him the named Dominic meaning “The Dog of the Lord”. Joan told her husband the next day and he was speechless at what he had heard. St. Dominic was very smart and loved to learn about the Catholic Faith.
Barnabas was an enormously influential individual in the early church that does not get much recognition. Although he was not one of the original apostles, he significantly enhanced the ministry of the apostles. Barnabas had a part in impacting many lives for the cause of Christ. He legitimized Paul, rehabilitated John Mark, and helped fund the church in Jerusalem. Without Barnabas, the early church may have been very different than it turned out to be.
The Saint I admire is Saint John Paul The II. Saint John Paul was a special man in many of ways. Saint John Paul grew up without any family members around because they all passed away at an, early age. He turned to Mary the Mother of God for his mother in his life, which results to be the best decision in his life. He also survived the times of Hitler and the concentration camps by hiding, and lying about his identification. Saint John Paul was a hard working guy, as he would work extra time for other people so they could do things with their family. He eventually became the Pope on October 16, 1978. John Paul then went on to become the greatest Pope this world will ever have to offer. Many of these reasons make me admire Saint John Paul
When Jesus first called him to be his disciple, he dropped all his fishing gear and followed Jesus, without a doubt. What makes Saint Peter stand out is the fact that he crucified himself of shame and regret because he denied Jesus three times, just as Jesus had predicted. Peter is considered by the Roman Catholic church to be the first of the unbroken chain of popes. He is also known as the leader of the twelve disciples.
Saint Peter the Apostle, original name Simeon, or Simon (died AD 64, Rome), disciple of Jesus Christ, recognized in the early church as the leader of the disciples and the Roman Catholic Church as the first of its unbroken succession of popes. Peter a fisherman, was called to be a disciple of Jesus at the beginning of his ministry. He received from Jesus an Aramaic appellation Cephas which means “Rock.” This was translated into Greek as Petros (from the Greek Petra, “rock”) and became a Latin Petrus and the English Peter. Jesus told Peter he was the Rock upon whom the Christian Church would be built. Throughout the public life of Jesus, Peter is represented in the Gospel as the Spokesman and principal member of Jesus’ followers. He is the first named in the entire list given of these followers and was present with a privilege at few special occasions, example, the daughter of Jairus brought back to life by Jesus. He was also the first to see Jesus after his resurrection from the dead.
