I am not familiar with the Bolinwood trail; I’ll have to check that one out sometime. I may need to see the sprint triathlon picture. Trust me, after working in the hospital very little disturbs you, except maybe C.Diff. A conference in Miami will be fun. I’ve never been to Miami but it seems like a rather lively city. Do you get to travel for work often? Your job sounds fascinating. You don’t like the Princess Bride?! Inconceivable! Well, I guess I can give you a pass on that. I am pretty sure I am part of the 1% of the population who still hasn’t seen the new Star Wars. I actually was planning on seeing it and just kind of forgot about it. I haven’t been to the Silverspot, but I am a Maple View enthusiast! The DPAC is great; I attended
In starwars episode 6, Leia gets captured by Jabba the Hutt and released, Luke resumes his whining (this time as a Jedi), and former Anakin turns to the light side after going through 3 episodes as Darth Vader. Luke is like his father in the sense that he has lost his mother, he learned the force easily, and he saved his father just as Darth Vader saved his son.
Star Wars was first released in May 1977. It is a series of movies based on an epic space adventure and was created by George Lucas. The franchise depicts a galaxy described as "far, far away" in the distant past, and portrays two important characterization like the Jedi as a representation of good, in conflict with the Sith, their evil counterpart. The overall box office produced over 4.38 billion dollars, making Star Wars one of the fifth highest grossing films of all time. Many believe the film would not have reached its highest without the prominently themed music created by John Williams. The renowned themes 'the force' and 'imperial march' are one of Williams most widely known music scores and motion pictures of all history. John Williams was able to vividly depict the characters conflict between good and evil through the use of musical elements like timbre, pitch and duration to create the individual characters.
Stories are magic; that’s what my old literature told me. They can transport you to the furthest reaches of space, to the far distant past, to the arms of a lover, to the death of your comrades, even if it is all a lie. He was right: Stories are magic, they are the one magical thing we have in this world. Movies are the best way to tell a story; to show the world your story, to make your story -- your lie, you untrue truth -- beautiful, to make it terrible, ugly, bold, stunning, unbelievable, and most importantly, to make them real. I love film. It is my passion, my life; I was raised on them, before I could walk my mom had put Star Wars in my little VHS tv. I know I am meant to make movies, but in their current state, they infuriate me.
Star Wars takes place a long time ago in a galaxy that is unlike anything modern society could conceive as being authentic. It exists in a time before Earth was even thought of. At the start of the movie, a civil war is occurring between the Rebel Alliance and The Galactic Empire. A leader of the Rebel Alliance, Princess Leia, stole plans from the Galactic Empire (also known as the Imperial forces) for the Death Star. The Death Star was a very heavily armed space station with weapons capable of destroying an entire planet. After stealing the plans, Princess Leia sent two droids, R2-D2 and C-3PO, to the planet Tatooine with a copy of the plans in R2-D2's memory bank.
In the movie ´´Star Wars the Force Awakens´´ we can identify all these elements and first of all the one that initiates and light up the story, and that is the call to adventure. After thirty years of a very important battle between the good and the bad side, the Resistance stills fighting the First Order a very dangerous threat. The call to adventure occur when the General Leia send Mr. Poe to a mission which main objective is to find Luke Skywalker, who is lost since many years ago.
Now that we have covered how Star Wars got to be a set of bestselling blockbusters, it is time to examine the phenomena that has occurred because of it. This phenomenon starts with young George Lucas. When Lucas was younger he was into racing cars. He wanted to make a career out of it. An event that three days before he was supposed to graduate high school changed all of that. On that day, Lucas made an illegal left-hand turn into his family’s ranch and was hit by his friend who had ran a red light and was trying to overtake Lucas (Taylor 42). The accident hospitalized Lucas. After his recovery, George Lucas slowed down and gave up one racing. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2012 he said “It gave me this perspective on life that said I’m operation on extra credit” (Taylor 43). In this way, the crash was to became a supernatural experience for Lucas. He felt like some higher power had given him extra time to fulfil a purpose. The path that Lucas elected to take instead of racing was going to Modesto Junior college to study psychology, anthropology, and philosophy (Lucasfilm 17). The crash is what made Lucas confront the questions about the human psyche that we all have. Lucas was able to address these philosophical, psychological, and quasi-religious questions by making the Star Wars movies and in turn, viewers have used Lucas’s answers to satisfy their own needs to settle the dilemmas that plague the human psyche. Lawrence Kasdan once laid out the for questions that
Star Wars the Force Awakens is every sci-fi fans dream. The 2015 hit, directed by J.J Abrams brought record-breaking numbers to the box office, reviving the legendary story of Star Wars. The series brings aboard new characters to the beloved series such as John Boyega playing as Finn, Oscar Isaac playing as Poe and our main characters, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren and Daisy Ridley as Rey. The movie completely revamps the Star Wars universe with breathtaking scenes and music that will punch you with nostalgia. The action packed movie creates a very new, fresh environment and sprinkles in just the right amount of easter eggs to make it my movie of the year.
Since it is Star Wars mania, I will talk about a film that has meant so much to me personally and why I consider this film to be the greatest film of all time. The Empire Strikes Back and I have a long history--from when I was a kid to my re-awakening of its greatness in 2004 (my greatest film experience of all time), it has always been a part of my life. I remember first seeing Empire (1980 version) on a pan-and-scan VHS tape on a 10 inch screen (yes they had TV’s that small back then) and being disappointed that it did not match the zany pop humor of A New Hope (What was I thinking, really!). However, flash- forward to the time when they re-aired Empire on the FOX channel in celebration of the 1997 special edition versions of the trilogy; the restoration was phenomenal, to say the least. Once I tuned in and saw the carbonite-freezing scene, I was
I awoke in my bed, hearing my phone go off. I pressed the green button in the middle wearily. “ HEY!” the phone seemed to scream at me. It was just my friend Paul, thank goodness. Even though he was two years younger than me, he was still a good friend. “ Are you up? Come on, kid! I’ve got a surprise for you!” I got dressed, fixed my hair, and ran out the door. Paul, was standing there with the story that we had written together a few weeks ago. I wondered why, but the thought raced away when she spoke: “You’re NEVER going to believe this, Kiana! Our story is going to be made into a MOVIE!” My eyes widened, my smile was so big my face hurt. “ You're kidding!” I joked. Paul smiled even bigger. “ You betcha! You know I’ve got George Lucas’s email, right?” I nodded. George Lucas was the one who had written and directed all the original Star Wars movies. Me and
I chose to explain how the composer John Williams used The Main theme from Star Wars to capture and enhance the mood of the film. The song, in my opinion, did enhance the mood of the theme. Right from the beginning when listening to the song you would know that it is about adventure, struggles and a fight between good and evil. It makes you want to find out more about the movie while building up anticipation for the movie.
Your head was aching from working today. Your boss kept, well, bossing around. “Y/N do this, Y/N do that, blah blah blah.”, you grumbled. You put your key in the lock and opened the door. You could hear Stiles and your son arguing about, Star Wars, again? Once you walked into the living room, you let your bag fall on the ground of astonishment, the room was a complete mess. “What happened here?!” You looked at them and your son stood up, running to you. “Daddy and I made a hut out of blankets and other stuff!” You sighed and crouched down to your 5-year-old son. “Sweetheart, that’s really nice, but you and daddy have to clean up everything. Otherwise we have to cancel Star Wars night.” He nodded and began picking up his toys. You walked over to Stiles, who has been looking at his feet the whole time. “You, upstairs.”, you commanded him and he did what you said.
The film series began on May 25, 1977 with the release of the film Star Wars (subtitled Episode IV: A New Hope in 1981[2][3][4]) by 20th Century Fox, which became a worldwide pop culture phenomenon. It was followed by the similarly successful sequels The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983); these three films constitute the original Star Wars trilogy. A prequel trilogy was later released between 1999 and 2005, which received a more mixed reaction from critics and fans in comparison to the original trilogy. All six films were nominated for or won Academy Awards, and were commercial successes, with a combined box office revenue of $4.38 billion,[5] making Star Wars the fourth highest-grossing film series.[6] The series has
The rising action begins as Marvin and his father travel up and out of the lunar colony building, and in doing so, experience the change in the characteristics of the indoor air. The air is dry, cool and ozone-tinged in the residence levels, but changes to an earthy smell in the Farmlands. Marvin finds this interesting and exciting. When they reach the observatory level and pressurized exit door, they step into an oxygenated, pressurized surface vehicle, and actually travel outside. Marvin is thrilled because this is his first excursion outside.
Motion Pictures have always had a strong influence in today’s culture, but maybe none as prevalent as Star Wars. Originating with Episode 4 A New Hope, the series boomed from 1977 to 2005 with yet another addition coming in 2015. The strongest of the series was the original trilogy episodes 4, 5, and 6, all generally released in the 1980s. As one of the strongest film francaises still today, it’s impact within the 1980s was only the tip of the iceberg. Children and adults alike still anticipate the new edition of this seemingly endless journey. If any singular film series still holds prevalence in its future decades it is Star Wars: Original Trilogy.
It was always the left flank. Lt. Jackson Collins peered through his binoculars as the overgrown foliage and wondered how the hell he had ever gotten out here. He mused over the thought that he should be playing polo in Newport, Rhode Island right now instead of wondering how the Imperial Japanese Army was always moving through “impassable” jungle to outflank his unit.
