During my undergraduate program, I have come a long way in expanding my horizons and I secured 70% and obtained top grades in a class of 50students.
To slake my intemperate thirst for sciences, I regularly refer to the internet and journals containing international publications for updates in various branches of science and technology. My academic background has been strengthened by seminars and project work. These activities helped keeping me well acquainted with latest trends in pharmaceuticals. I always shared these updates with my peers and sophomores by participating in intercollegiate technical fests where presented about topics like irrational drug
Everyone desires to feel loved, valued, and appreciated. A career in pharmacy opens a door into the lives of other to make a difference. My intentions, now and as a pharmacist, ensures the value of each person by offering quality patient, guiding them with healthy lifestyle choices, and respecting each individual. Being a pharmacists offers a chance to care for those in need. Opportunities to brighten some one’s day with a listening ear or a smile comes occurs on a daily basis. From there, I began to explore more of what a career in pharmacy would mean and take the steps necessary to pursue my dream. As I reflect on the past and look forward, becoming a Doctor of Pharmacy is still the clear answer to achieving both my immediate and long-term goals. My immediate goal is to work towards additional education to be better equipped to utilize my undergraduate degree. In particular, I have a strong interest in applying my knowledge of biochemistry to the area of pharmacy in order to better understand how different medications work, how to help patients understand their medications, and how to solve problems to better care for patients. Ultimately, through achieving a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, I desire to develop a meaningful career that would allow for life-long learning and impacting lives.
My strongest impetus for the study of this major is pegged on the personal urge to improve the lives and health of those around me. I would only be able to serve the health of others when I am fully acquainted with the knowledge of pharmacy, which to me is one of the noblest professions. I am deeply concerned about the welfare of others. My experiences, especially as I visit hospitals form a significant part in influencing my choice to study pharmacy. At one point, I felt very bad when a pharmacist in a hospital I had visited was very indolent in serving a patient. All human beings would feel adored and valued when they are given appropriate attention in regard to their health. The health profession has a mission geared towards safeguarding people's health and that mission is perfectly in sync with my desires. I want to be exceptional, to do my best in caring for people, and attend to their interest to the best of my knowledge. I admire nourishing hope to desolate patients and always give them a reason to

During my time in the pharmacy technician program I met a wonderful pharmacist who introduced me into the world of compounding. After completing my first clinical rotation, I had to place a temporary hold on pursuing my career and education as health concerns prevailed. During my time away from school, I worked in various pharmaceutical settings. During this time, I was able to fine tune many skills that I felt were vital to becoming the best future pharmacist and
I am currently a fourth year doctoral student within the the pharmaceutical sciences graduate program at the College of Pharmacy. I have finished the course work and passed the preliminary comprehensive exam. I have also completed an oral pre-defense for my dissertation, in which I presented the first 3 chapters (introduction, literature review, and research methodology) in front of the designated committee members.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in physics in 2009 in Vietnam while I witnessed two deaths of my two 65 years old uncles due to medical related errors. Their unnecessary deaths at that relatively young age struck all my family members. I asked myself whether, if someone in my family had worked in the health care field, it might have been possible to save my uncles’ lives. As a science major student in Vietnam, I felt an urge to apply scientific knowledge to improve the situation. Over time, I came to realize that, in order to make a difference, I would need to gain a deeper background in understanding the mechanisms and the principles behind the field of medicine, a pharmacy major.
I made this choice because I had always been interested in how Biology, Chemistry and Physics tie in with each other. In my studies I have enjoyed learning about the inner and outer workings of the many cycles and pathways occurring in the body. One class that I enjoyed in particular was Nucleic Acids, which opened me to the importance of genomic studies and the possible applications in treating genetic related diseases. Another course that has greatly influenced me was Cancer Biochemistry. This course reinforced my knowledge of the cycles and pathways occurring in the body and introduced the errors that can occur in these processes leading to cancer. Pharmacy requires a strong knowledge of natural sciences and I feel that my studies in biochemistry have given me a foundation to build upon. In addition to obtaining a B.S in Biochemistry, I will also be obtaining a minor in Business Foundations. This minor has provided me with the basic knowledge of business. Pharmacy requires knowledge of business, which is evident in Community Pharmacies. With that in mind, having a basic understanding of business provides knowledge that is needed in Pharmacy. While in school, grew interest in research and so I joined a lab. Working in a lab gave me important research skills moving forward. Pharmacy is a field that also requires much research, and the skills I have acquired from working in a lab should prove to be useful. The knowledge and experience I gained from school have provided me with knowledge and skills that will help me in pharmacy
Growing up, I watched my mother study rigorously to earn her degree. The curious adolescent that I was, I constantly flipped through her anatomy book and it was then, that fueled my fascination for the medical field. As I continued my education through High School I found that I excelled in the sciences and I especially enjoyed chemistry and biology. My passion for these subjects and innate curiosity intrigues me to learn more about the composition of drugs and their functions in the body. My immediate goal is to gain knowledge and expertise in the areas of study that I enjoy by implementing my natural diligence and curiosity.
I believe my curiosity and interest in health helped lead me to medicine. My parents and close family members still laugh about how my most used word is why. I like to know where things come from, how they are made, and why they function the way they do. One of the questions that lingered in my mind during my high school years was why none of the medicines or treatments I took, eased the pain of my daily migraines. With the encouragement of my dad, who works at a pharmaceutical company, I decided I was going to be a pharmacist. I was going to study drugs and the active ingredients and how they affected the body. I loved science and I even went to pharmacy camp. But, as I shadowed and learned more about pharmacy, I realized I didn’t want to be a pharmacist. Drugs seemed interesting, but I was more stimulated by human body processes. As I sat in anatomy and physiology courses I remember thinking that the human body and its ability to compensate and respond to its environment was amazing. I also wanted the capacity to impact and change lives. While pharmacist can have some patient interaction, physicians have access to the direct and influential role in patient care that I
The road to choosing pharmacy was a winding path. I knew from a young age that I loved science and that the medical field would someday become my home. As I progressed through high school I explored other careers, like physician’s assistants and medical school but I never felt like I had found my niche. I started working for Publix and soon found myself working in the pharmacy as a technician to gain more knowledge about medicine. Before I knew It, I was hooked. I knew I had found my dream field of work. The combinations of Sciences, patients, and the flexibility of the changing world of pharmacy is enticing. I have a wide interest in the scope of pharmacy and find comfort in knowing I can have many different careers within the field. While competing at the Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) student leadership conference I met a faculty member from a nearby University who inspired me with stories of various careers all within my reach. The following year I had the pleasure of presenting with her at the 2017 HOSA conference and was able to share my experiences as a Pre-Pharmacy student, as well as knowledge on the career path to high schoolers. This inspired me further and I found that I enjoy teaching and sharing my passion for pharmacy. As I come to my third year as a Pharmacy Technician my passion for pharmacy has only increased. Not a day goes by that I am not inspired by my pharmacist. My work in pharmacy has presented me with many skills from pharmaceutical
Dedicating the next four years of my life to a professional school is a challenge. Certainly, paying for pharmacy school will be difficult; however, I am convinced that it is my only true option. Like my mentor always told me, the key to be successful is having a work ethic and being dedicated. Throughout my childhood days, I was always fascinated about the body. Growing up I soon began to get exposed to the world of pharmacy. I believe being a pharmacist will give me the intellectual fulfillment I yearn for. I have gotten to the stage in life where I now know my calling; given my several trails and experiences.
I plan to advance my studies in the fundamental theoretical knowledge of the relevant subjects, keep myself up-to-date with the latest developments, and venture into new dimensions based on the knowledge and the skills that I have accumulated. I would like to dedicate myself especially to those important projects which are just in their incipient development and enjoy tremendous potentials. I will avail myself of the abundant academic activities to exchange and to learn from leading specialists, and to develop new perspectives. In this way I hope to achieve some pioneering research results and produce several high-quality research papers. I expect that this research-intensive Masters program there will help me become well prepared for careers in biomedical research, pharmaceutical and biotechnological
