For the past three years I have been convinced that although I was in classes with the smart kids, I was not one of them, but maybe, I am different after all. I was raised with the expectation to have a perfect GPA and to grow up and do something amazing to make a lot of money. Because I did not have a 4.0 GPA from the start, I was under the assumption that I was not smart or good enough and therefore would never qualify for anything, especially not for the National Honor Society. But I worked hard, I pushed myself as far as I could, and never gave up, even through tough times. I made sure that I put forth my best effort and finally, my Senior year, I believe that I meet the standards for which the NHS is looking for; scholarship, service, leadership, and character. …show more content…
In my Junior year of highschool I took a total of eight college level courses through Central Ohio Technical College, and passed each one. This was a struggle for me due to personal issues, however I studied hard and pushed through. The summer before my senior year I took an online Statistics course offered by the same college, and attended the Camp 4 Scholars at Kenyon College. I spent three weeks on campus having making memories, having new experiences, and building my academic skills in a Behavioral Neuroscience course, as well as an African American History course. In this program I learned many skills and had my mind opened to the world beyond my hometown though hearing others’ stories. I then took another course offered by COTC, and am currently taking an American Studies course offered by Kenyon. I believe that I have pushed myself very far academically, in addition to my other
I want to preface this by saying thank you for taking the time to considering me as a member of your organization, it is truly an honor. Throughout my life I have developed a drive for excellence in everything I do. I believe that when it comes to homework and projects you should only consider yourself finished when you are satisfied with the work you have done. This drive for excellence took full force after I had joined Civil Air Patrol (CAP). There they not only taught me how rewarding doing your best can be, but they taught me leadership skills and the benefit of stepping out of my comfort zone.
I, Troy Weber, want to join National Honor Society to benefit my community and myself. This experience will help me with completing difficult tasks, handling a situation or just finding a way to talk to another person. I want to help my community because there is so much work that can be done. People need help everyday and I want to give up my time to lend them a hand or two. Volunteer work can lead to a better character and create a sense of care for the people within a small and large community.
I want to be a member of National Honor Society because I believe it will provide me with more opportunities to help out in the community. I will use the honor of being a member of NHS to set an example for the younger generation of Storm Lake, starting with my four younger siblings. I hope to add to the character of Storm Lake by being a positive influence on those around me. Volunteering in the community will allow me to gain skills that I will use throughout high school and into the rest of my life. I hope that you consider adding to the National Honor Society roster as I truly believe I can do great things for the Storm Lake community.
The National Honor Society is a group whose members are known for their academic accomplishments, leadership, and integrity. This group is greatly prestigious and I am honored to be invited to apply. This group also contributes a great deal towards the community, which is something that I am interested in doing more of. Until now, I have not gone out of my way to do much service and being in this group, I would have a higher motivation to do so. I would like to experience more giving to the community because whenever I have helped others, I felt satisfactory and valuable afterward. This society would be an excellent opportunity to be a bigger part of the community.
To be in National Honor society is an enormous accomplishment. I should be picked because I have copious skills that I can bring to the table. I am a great leader and I am very organized. I am a huge role model for girls who want to go into fields that typically only guys do. I am an honorary member of National Honor Society of High School Scholars which is impeccable. I already have 26 high school credits and 16 college credits. I have been in numerous different activities such as, soccer, volleyball, band, drama, VES kids chorus, ballet, tech club, and tae kwon do. I am a very strong student when it comes to grades and I also like a challenge. I am very creative and can come up with countless ideas on how to help the community. I love helping
As someone who loves new people and new experiences, I am confident I would be an energetic and positive contribution to my class and community. Having gone through two knee surgeries within two years I found that positivity is an invaluable part of recovering as well as maintaining the same drive and passion as before the two injuries. The ability to be positive is a precursor to building resiliency, and is, therefore, one of the most essential traits a successful person can have. In addition to staying positive and upbeat, I also find it imperative to give back to the community in which I live, wherever that community may be. Participating in the National Honor Society instilled in me the significance of serving one's community. Helping the
I am genuinely honored to be one of the few students considered for acceptance to the State College Area High School chapter of the National Honor Society. I feel that my hard work and dedication in academics is beginning to show through. Throughout my life, I have shown drive and devotion for everything in which I have been involved, ranging from athletics to academics. My mentality has always been focused on helping others. For this reason, I aspire to become an orthopedic surgeon so that my career will evolve around helping others to get the most out of their lives. My summer will be spent volunteering at Phoenix Rehab for fourteen hours each week as it will allow me to begin providing care to the community. Currently holding an unweighted
It is an honor to be considered for membership for the National Honor Society. The service that I have done throughout my high school career will benefit me later in life. If I get accepted I will do more service with the school, classmates, and community. So far, I have joined Band and am part of the News Crew.
As a freshman at the University of Maryland, I am pursuing a Masters degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Cyber Security. I formerly attended the Academy of Health Sciences at Prince George’s Community College, a dual enrollment program in which I graduated with my High school diploma and an Associates of Arts degree in General Studies. Having a unique experience by attending these different school has allowed me to become familiar with technical communication in a multitude of ways, whether it is in the work place or school related. Being vice president of the national honor society, being a barista at Peet’s coffee shop, and with being fluent in multiple languages I have used technical communication to encourage people to “take action” in a multitude of ways. Whether it was influencing people to join the national honors society or trying to get customers to buy a new coffee drink, I have consistently been able to encourage others to “take action” with whatever it may be. Over time I have learned the do’s and don’ts of being a technical communicator, and I now understand what must be done to accomplish a task through technical communication.
There are many academic goals I want to achieve at Loveless Academic Magnet Program. First, I want to be inducted to National Honor Society since I was in National Elementary and Junior Honor Society. I wish to make a 32 or higher on my ACT. In addition, I would like to receive a four year scholarship to Auburn University. I also plan on making the volleyball and cheer teams.
National Honor Society is nationally known to recognize students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Throughout high school, I have accomplished many things that I feel should qualify myself for National Honor Society.
As a student, I am very honored to have received this invitation from the NHS. From the start of my freshman year it has been a goal of mine that I have focused on, a dream of mine that that has now turned into reality. It has also made me gain confidence in myself knowing that I can achieve many great things in life. Being in the National Honor Society will push me in school and also help me strive for greatness and not for average. Throughout my years in school, I really didn’t care about my grades and also my behavior. I always was the one to get into trouble every day and really not care about
It is unbelievable that I have been selected to potentially become an NHS member. As I look back on the last two and a half years of my high school career, I realize there have been many times that I could have given up on trying to achieve my academic goals. I have had opportunities to cheat and lie my way through it, but as a meticulous student chose to do my very best the honest way. I have maintained a 4.0 grade point average, so I am an incredibly hard-working student. I promise to continue to work hard in order to keep getting straight A’s and that is only one reason I should be chosen to be an official member of the National Honor Society.
I believe I should be a member of the National Honor Society because I believe I would make a good addition. I am a hard worker and would not slack off on any work asked of me. I am responsible and am able to keep my grades up while doing other things. I am on the tennis team and while on the team the quality of the work that I turned in was no different than the quality of work I would have turned in if I was not on the tennis team. I believe the National Honors Society is something great to be a part of.
The four pillars of National Honor Society (NHS) include scholarship, service, leadership, and character. I have already received this application opportunity due to meeting the requirements of the scholarship portion of NHS, which requires a strong commitment to learning and putting effort towards achieving high grades in the classroom. I intend to benefit the remaining three pillars of service, leadership, and character through my willingness to work for others free of reward, initiative to lead my peers, and optimal decision making.
