After graduating for college, I plan to apply to help serve in the peace corps. I once read in my french class how it one of the United State Ambassadors got to where he was and it talked about how he helped serve in the Peace Corps and how that opened many doors to him because he was not only able to put the degree in college to good use but how he was also able to work with foreign countries helping show that he had the skills and abilities required to work as an ambassador. This is not the only reason that I would like to help with the Peace Corps however, I just want to help people. In the end that is my overall goal and working with the Peace Corps would give me the opportunity to help. To see what people experience on a day to day living
The volunteers are overseas for 27 months and work in areas such as agriculture, community economic development, education, environment, health, and youth in development. “Agriculture volunteers work with small-scale farmers and families to increase food security and production and adapt to climate change while promoting environmental conservation,” according to the Peace Corps website. Volunteers teach new techniques and develop projects to assist them. Education is about teaching lessons that last a lifetime. Volunteers teach subjects like math, science, or English. They can also develop libraries. The environment volunteers are like agriculture but focus more on the conservation part. They promote sustainable use of natural resources. “The health volunteers work within their communities to promote important topics such as nutrition, maternal and child health, basic hygiene, and water sanitation,” (peacecorps.gov). They also work HIV/AIDS education and prevention programs according to the Peace Corps website. Youth in development volunteers are all about empowering the next generation of leaders. “Volunteers work with youth in communities to promote engagement and active citizenship,” (peacecorps.gov). Volunteers teach about gender awareness, employability, sex education, fitness programs; think of it as a Big Brother campaign.
Currently, I am in the process of earning my Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a pre-medical emphasis from Grand Canyon University. Upon graduation, I hope to attend either a medical or physician assistant school. My specific goal in the medical field is still up in the air, however, I am avidly exploring the fields of pathology, oncology, emergency medicine, and surgery. My interest in the medical field was sparked by my human anatomy and physiology class during my senior year of high school. Put simply, my life in high school was rough, and I was completely lost, as far as my career decisions were concerned. I enrolled in a human anatomy course, to fill a hole in my schedule during my senior
This experience would be a true blessing in so many ways. Helping others and giving back is always my main goal when volunteering. Understanding the story behind the cause and having the ability to empathize is a big part of every volunteer job. Knowing that your
Lately I’ve been researching my options for after graduation. One of the things that I absolutely want to do is volunteer in the Peace Corps. Since the Peace Corps. was established in 1961, over 225,000 Americans have served. That means over 225,000 Americans have taken time out of their lives to help others.
Being a part of AmeriCorps would be great opportunity for me, because I've always loved helping people. Both of my parents work in social work, so I've been around people wanting to help other people my whole life.
Essay #1, I really highlight my experience as an EMT to show how it would help me as a volunteer overcome any challenges i may face (327):
My next career goal is to work in human services as a caseworker and/or advocate for a marginalized population such as the chronically homeless or people with severe disabilities. I haven’t quite narrowed it down and plan on doing some volunteering to help with that process. Volunteering has always been important to me. When I was first out of college and working my first full time job I didn’t make a lot of money. It bothered me that I couldn’t afford to give as much money as I wanted to my Church, so I started volunteering and doing things like food baskets around the holidays in order to give something back.
Renowned for teaching how to create economic and social values through liberal arts, at Swarthmore College I want to study how to become a deft American government policy maker, hopefully a future Secretary of State.
Its very nice to be in class with you. I am very happy for you, I cannot wait until I reach my last year in the program. I have been working very hard this year, so hopefully I will be finished next September. Once I finish school I plan to work for the VA. I have a passion for working with veterans, only because I have served in the military before and I feel a connection with them. I know how difficult It can be to talk to someone about a problem and feel like they don’t understand because they have never wen through the same situation. I have working in a mental health facility before; it was one of the best jobs that I have ever had. I think that you will learn a lot from you supervisor as well as other staff and the environment. What school
The mission for Peace Corps is to help people in need in other countries, help people from other countries understand Americans, and help Americans understand people from other countries. (About 1-4) There are a few different types of volunteers, but the most popular volunteer program is 2 years long. These volunteers can work in over 60 countries for their 2 year service. Many college graduates try this and 94% of the openings for Peace Corps is in this position. (Is Peace Corps Right For Me? 4)
The Peace Corps is an organization of people who are America’s international helpers. This is a federal government program that was designed to bring about peace and hospitality to developing countries. This organization has a virtuous history of people of all race backgrounds and genders who come together to help others. The volunteers have no obligation toward the people of the world but they serve by their own intent as Americans and individuals. Volunteers who finish their service are of great character because they offer their own time to help those in need. They are the people with hearts and minds that are ready to give their energy to endure what situations that may rise in their service. However a person going into graduate school
Service learning has given me the new opportunity experience helping others and including myself. I enjoy volunteer work because It’s a way of giving back to the community, but also I’ve become confident in public speaking. In addition, volunteer work is a great rewarding experience, and it 's also helped me develop social skills, by supporting others. The contribute can make a positive impact in many ways, Barack Obama said, “ the best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the work with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.” There are element that could promise will succeed in life, however, I believe to learn and discover. I will continue volunteering work whenever I can, and I strongly encourage people to join volunteer work because the meaningful impact the lives of their and help thousands of the students confront in reading. It was a great pleasure for me to contribute to the organization to the development of the community through Political Science class volunteering work. The impact that was able to make our community better future.
“I am hoping to eventually work in either economic or social development, so I think the Peace Corps offeres a really good opportunity to go into a developing country and be able to really immerse myself into their culture,” she said.
My name is Shirl Green. I became a student at Liberty University, because of a massive layoff, as a Loan Officer, in the legation department. However, God has blessed me with an amazing husband that has supported me throughout my educational journey. Remarkably, my spouse has carried the load and insisted on me not working but focusing on my studies. On the other hand, I'm expecting to gain Biblical and circular management principles. Once I complete my graduate studies, I intend to work as a Biblical Social Worker. I believe that there's a great need for Spiritual Social Workers because God word is more powerful that any
Throughout my life, I had a challenge that none of my friends had. As the child of a soldier, I had the experience of my father being deployed to Afghanistan three times. The first time he left, I was 7, then at age 10, and again at age 14 going into my freshman year of high school. Through these deployments, not only did I learn to help my family out; but my father brought back memories of Afghanistan showing me how lucky our country has it. Through these experiences, all I could think is there has to be a way I can help, which was when I was nominated into the People to People Ambassador Program. This is a student summer program; and I took my first trip the summer before my freshman year of high school.
