Statement of Purpose
When I was in standard 6th, I was introduced to some basic scientific theories like gravitation and force. Since then I have been very curious to learn more about them and when I studied them further I wondered how Newton came to the conclusion that force is equal to mass into acceleration. We know that acceleration is dv/dt, the first derivative of velocity with respect to time. But what is time? Is it more than seconds or minutes or even hours? Since the definition of time is duration and duration is just the passage of time, so the curiosity to know exactly what time is entranced my interest in Physics. Due to some of the family circumstances I wasn’t able to accomplish my dream. in Physics but when I enrolled myself in Philosophy Honors. course at Miranda House , University of Delhi , I saw a ray of hope about my dream to study theories related to What Time is.

With confidence, I want to proceed with the master’s work at Oxford to gain a higher degree and greater research opportunities in the midst of British culture. I believe that my personal interests, social conscience and experiences, would contribute as much as my research skills to Oxford’s social and intellectual culture. I began teaching as a graduate teaching assistant and project assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. As a teaching assistant, I conducted labs, discussion sessions, and some honor sessions for introductory physics courses in electromagnetism, thermal dynamics, optics, and modern physics. As a project assistant, my responsibilities included grading homework, discussing it with students, and prepare some homework solutions in quantum mechanics, quantum field theory, and an introductory physics course. In teaching physics, my main goal is to have my students actively thinking like physicists. I believe that the ability to think like a physicist is valuable to everyone, whether physics graduates, physics majors or non-physics majors.
For years I have shown a passion for physics and I aspire to read it at a deeper level because of its many phenomena and applications, and the need for skilled physicists in the world, as without them, civilisation would struggle to thrive. The thought process and unique perceptions that physicists have are key in driving businesses and other innovations. Furthermore, society is hugely reliant on technology, resulting in physicists becoming increasingly important to both maintaining and creating new technological ideas. For example my work experience at Sky allowed me to see how the approach that the physicists there took enabled them to be very successful in their line of work. More importantly however, the beauty of physics is found on an intrinsic level which allows us to understand the universe we live in. For thousands of years, religious beliefs dominated explanations for important ideas such as how the universe was created, the afterlife, and of course the question of a deity. Biology explains what occurs within all living things. Chemistry explains the reactions between different substances at the molecular level. Physics, however, explains how and why everything occurs in the universe. Through the use of mathematics, physics explains why things must go down and why it is impossible to reach the speed of light. Physics simply mirrors my personality as I am an individual who enjoys an explanation for everything.
Understanding that challenge is necessary to expand skills, I took Advanced Placement Physics as a junior in high school. Determined to excel I pored over books, sought assistance from teachers, and diligently applied myself. I was certain that an A grade was imminent. I was working hard, alas an A grade eluded me. Ironically physics, a subject I actual enjoy, was teaching me a hard lesson, sometimes, no matter how hard you work, success does not come on the first try.
I was reading something about the time dimension, and it's so complicated to understand, that when I more think in it, more questions I make to myself. It's a concept so abstract! You're right, the time hasn't mass, and it's not compound of atoms nor particles, 'cause the time is basically motion, but if the time is movement, don't it depend from the object that it moves? I mean, if the different objects move to different rhythms from one another, wouldn't exist so many "times" as objects
Timing is everything they say, well what exactly is time? So I decided to do some research and look up the definition on Oxfords Dictionaries to see what the exact meaning of time is. Time is the “indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole” it also means “a point of time as measured in hours and minutes past midnight or noon” (Oxfords Dictionaries). The thought about time and the concept of it came to my mind today because it actually happened to be the last day of daylight savings. It made me wonder what is time and does it really exist and why do we have daylight savings. Is time something created by man or nature, or could it all just be an illusion inside your brain.
I wouldn’t be doing philosophy if I didn’t think it progressed, and that we know now more than we did a century ago. For that reason, I don’t view its history as a story of the clash of defensible but irreconcilable views, from which the most we can expect is a sympathetic understanding of how things looked to the participants. I am Andrew Soebagio, from Indonesia. I’ve been a student at North for about a year and a half now. I’m planning to graduate from North this upcoming fall, with an AS degree. A major that I have in mind is Petroleum Engineering; hopefully this plan will stick with me till I graduate.
Time is eternal: there is no beginning and there is no end. People measure it by years, months, days, hours, and seconds and give it meaning by using the terms “past,” “present,” and “future.” It is such a precious thing, more precious than anything because when a moment is lost, it’s lost forever. Time is always moving; it doesn’t stop for anybody. And as time goes by, history and memories are made and passed down.
Time is the continuation of events, whether this be in the past, present or future. Time has been found to have different consistencies depending on variables, two of these variables have been found to be gravity and velocity, which both have an effect on time. The effect of this can be seen by looking into space, or more exactly, space stations, it was found that clocks on a space station run differently than clocks on the surface of earth, although the time difference is incredibly small, about a tenth of a second after a year, the effect is still observable.
I chose Applies Arts and Science because I wanted to continue to make a difference and have an impact on young people in my community. This field, allows me the opportunity to take more courses to enhance my overall knowledge and understanding of some the issues that face our society. Time Time is defined as a measured or measurable period, a continuum that lacks spatial dimensions. This broad definition lacks the simple explanation that humans are searching for. There are many scientists, philosophers, and thinkers who have tried to put time into understanding terms. The aspects of time that we can understand are only based on what we can perceive, observe, and calculate. Every day we look at our watches or clocks.
Chemistry is ubiquitous and its prevalence is evident in everything right from environment, biology and even in technology. It is this versatility, which aids me in gaining insight in every field of science. Being a graduate in Bio-analytical Chemistry and Organic chemistry, my enthusiasm and inclination grew towards quantitative and qualitative analysis of natural and synthetic compounds in research laboratory. It is with this passion, I look forward to unravel the mystics of analytical chemistry through theoretical and practical knowledge.
