Status of women in society

Present scenario of the status of women in Indian society
According to India’s constitution, women are legal citizens of the country and have equal rights with men (Indian Parliament). Because of lack of acceptance from the male dominant society, Indian women suffer immensely. Women are responsible for bearing children, yet they are malnourished and in poor health. Women are also overworked in the fields and complete all of the domestic work. Most Indian women are uneducated. Although the country’s constitution says women have equal status as of men, women are powerless and are mistreated inside and outside the home.
India is a society where the male is greatly revered. Therefore women,

• Educated/literate women will be better able to manage their families, so that their children become good citizens of the country.
• Mothers create the foundation stone on which children can build their careers and grow to become respectable citizens.
• The family is the foundation for building & sustaining any nation and women is an important aspect of a family.
• Family participation should not be limited to their children only but must also include children of relatives, neighbors and the less privileged. Since people do not live in isolation, we must encourage mothers to participate in the parenting of people in and outside of their own families.
• Young and even older children must also participate in supporting the family activities on a regular basis. Through family participation, values can be instilled that will build and sustain a great nation.
My views
A woman is an architect of society. She establishes the institution of family life, builds the home, brings up the children and makes them good citizens. Her strength in totality contributes in the making of an ideal family, ideal society and an ideal state.
The question is how secure a woman is in her family and society and what is her socio-economic and political status. The position of women in any society is the indicator of health of the state.
Women contribute to society in many, many ways! There are very, very few professions that
The role of American women has changed significantly from the time the nation was born, to the modern era of the 1950s and 1960s. Many people, "... believed that women's talent and energies ... would be put to the better [use] in the new republic." (Clinton 3) Clearly showing that society has seen the importance of the women's talents and that their skills can be very useful, exploited this and thus, the change of the women's role was inevitable. Society has understood that the roles of women played an important role on all parts of life.
Women have been a vital key to the shaping and progression of our society. Throughout time, women’s roles and opportunities in the family, workplace, and society have greatly evolved. They started from being housewives that don’t have many rights, even in the household, to being valued citizens in our
When it comes to the idea of a woman most individuals see them as house wives that are only good at taking care of their family. Women are also perceived as a weaker gender that is so emotionally inclined that they could not “lift a finger to apprehend or punish a criminal”(Doc A). Although this statement was made before the civil war we still see many problems
As a result of these reviews, the ongoing reconstruction of the social status and roles of Hindu women has brought about many new changes in Hinduism. Some of these changes include changes in education, health measures, problems of early marriages, the positions of widows, and the representation of women in governing bodies (Desai, et al., 1995). For example, within Hinduism now,
The role of women goes far beyond being a caregiver at home, breeding of fun for kids or men, as Sor Juana reflected in his work. It is the first responsible for all social change as it is transmitting values of life and other human beings. It is able to release an entire society of authoritarian submission of any government to education that gives them their children at home and the example set in your environment.
Social togetherness and the effectiveness of structure can occur when culturally different people are allowed to be fully engaged in society and feel a sense of purpose and identity within their culture. Positive outcomes of diversity will happen when there is participation on all societal levels, participation is proportional to the makeup of ethnic groups, there is a common purpose, and the different cultural identities are valued (Jones et al., 2000, p. 55). Story time had mothers, fathers, and grandparents all of different ethnicities and ages. This activity as well as other activities the mommy and me group participate in are designed to give parents a forum where they can have an adult conversation, discuss any issues child wise they are having, and provide a learning activity that is also fun for the child. While I will never truly walk in their shoes, I can appreciate the difficulty of juggling their lives and enjoy the simplicity of
that families can be encouraged to spend more time together and place family values first.
Women and men have had certain roles in society that were understood amongst them to be specified for their particular gender. Males were known to have the leading role as head of the house hold and the bread winner while the woman’s duty was to stay at home and take care of the house and children. While many people years ago deemed this way of life and practice to be the right and ethical thing to do, times have changed and so this kind of treatment towards a woman’s equality must be questioned. Even though times have changed, this mindset of a woman’s ability to be as good as a man has not completely gone away. In today’s society a woman contributes to the economy and her family as equally as that of a man. Therefore, women should share equal rights and opportunities as their gender counterparts.
Women have always been taking part in building the future of this world. They continue defying the stereotype set for them by men in the early years of civilization. Women are influential and this notable female helped the U.S. become a greater land. She transformed the role of First Lady from a White House hostess to a powerful leader. Eleanor Roosevelt made numerous contributions to society.
One of the most important roles for the woman is to be a mother, family’s support, and multi-tasker. Being a woman means to fill many roles at once. Moreover, in every of this role a woman supposed to be perfect. A woman as a mother is irreplaceable because any man will never be able to bear children. Nobody raises her children as good as a woman. She takes care of them with gentleness and mother’s intuition. A mother feeds her babies and changes the diapers; next, plays with infants, reads them books, and teaches a proper behavior. She helps with homework, drive the older children to their activities, and support teenagers in need. Undoubtedly, a woman is a support for a whole family. A woman keeps a family
Women are born into a man’s world. The traditional tasks of a woman are meant to bolster a man. These tasks include taking care of children who will go on to represent the father, sewing so the man always looks his best, or even making herself look good to represent the man. Kizer describes women as “freed in fact, not in custom,” but they can begin to change the customs and lead the world in a new direction. As mothers, they have developed respect for life and place life above abstractions such as “national honor.”
Women today participate fully in activities such as education, sports, politics, media, art and culture, service sectors, science and technology, etc.
The modern world has resulted in earnings, wages and salaries for the women similar to that of men, but the women are continuously facing inequalities in the work force (Andal 2002). This can be attributed to the pre-established notion that women shall not be given access to finance or communication with the world outside of the home which is highly unethical and unfair (Eisenhower, 2002). In the past, they were considered as the underprivileged ones which were not thought of having equal rights but this fact has changed now. For instance, the status of women can be explicitly defined as the equality and the freedom of the women.
Throughout history, women have been seen in many different lights. From a woman’s perspective she is strong, smart, helpful and equal to men. In the eyes of men, she is seen as the weaker being, the housewife, and the caretaker. By looking at the following pieces of writing, one can see that through the centuries, women have struggled to break out of the mold that man had put her in and make themselves known in society as important.
It is general belief in our society that role of women is restricted in four walls of home or for mainly household activities. Economy of any country can’t boom without contributing women. The growing industrialization, urbanization and social legislation and with the spread of education and awareness women have shifted from kitchen to higher level of professional activities. Today’s women are taking more and more professional and technical degrees to cope up with market need. The position of women and their position is any society is an index of its civilization. Women are to be considered as equal partner in the process of development.
