Some HPV types can cause warts and others can lead to cancer. Men and women can get cancer of the mouth, throat, and anus. The most common in men is penile HPV cancer and the most common in women is cervical cancer. HPV is transmitted by having vaginal, anal, or oral sex with someone who has contracted the virus.
