They evaluate and contemplate suicide as a way to run from their problems. The three actresses, Virginia, Clarissa, and Laura, are very perceptive and sensitive to their world. Each experience triggers a response that prompts them to evaluate the value of living and each time they consider suicide as a way out of the oppressive obstacles that they encounter. In today’s Australian society it has now become almost commonplace for us to question our beliefs and what it means to be an Australian. We have always turned to consider our cultural aspects and how they determine a strong Australian identity. The voice of a hot climate, the tone of the red sand, the indifference of man and woman and even the lifestyle of the Australian people all play important parts within our community. However to be an Australian is truly shaped by the kind acts of mateship that we possess within our relationships with friends and family. The mateship of society should not be affected by gender but really truly lie upon the relationships in our lives, which is why I have chosen Priscilla and Red Dog,

In all of the sources there is a common theme of how a significant event has affected the protagonist and the choices they may make in the future. We see this first in THE TENT DELIVERY WOMAN’S RIDE. The women in the story has a very dark and negative outlook on life we see this when she says things like “I hated knots, and looking at the butterfly got me riled up again” we don't know a lot about their life but we can assume they had a negative upbringing because thinking about her mother made her mad and she says she ran away. This poor upbringing has possibly changed the way she views the world. At one point she thinks “I had in mind To swerve against the side and shoot on past The safety lights, another kind of tit for tat, But what’s the use in one way to die? I kept on going.” this is a crossroad she has come to, she either has a choice to move on and continue driving or just end everything. This is where she comes to the realization that there is no point of ending anything, because then what would have been the point of making it as far as she had. She figures that despite anything that may have happened in the past she needs to keep moving forward with the understanding that life isn't comfortable but we must carry on. We see this further when she says things like “I feel like that, pulled out, unraveled. But I like it fine.”
On February 18, 2017, I attended a play production at the Bean Brown Theatre located at Shelton State Community College. The name of the production was The Real Queen of Hearts Ain’t Even Pretty. As a spectator of the play, with no foreknown knowledge of its content, I enjoyed the play. It had many comedic components.
The origin of this novel stems from a time with great attitude changes within the African-American way of life. Tensions between gender specifically had begun to emerge, women, who were thought of as subservient, belonging to the house as well as to their husbands. During the timeframe of this story, women had been beginning to emerge with dignity, grace, and authority. The play takes place in Pittsburgh, during the 1950’s when the gap between genders had been shrinking, as women had been introduced further into society as more than just mothers. To most, this diminishing gap, to most would be a seamless concept, however, to the characters of this play would be a deciding factor for many conflicting scenes. The main characters of this play
People are always under pressure to do the right thing, the thing that is not right for them, but what is right for others. We hurt the ones we love to protect them, whether it is from ourselves or others, it is whatever is seen as the better choice for us. Choices and sacrifice displays hurting loved ones accurately by taking examples from Forrest Gump, My Sister’s Keeper, The Great Gatsby, The Crucible, and The Divergent. The reasons that people hunt loved ones is because of the internal conflicts that will ultimately affect them and their decisions they make. As to show selfishness or protection of themselves.
During the play Steel Magnolias, Robert Harling shows a portrait of women from the fictional town of Chinquapin that portrays the common, familiar, and nostalgic environment of a small town beauty salon during the 1980s. Encompassing not only the extensive range of female friendship, the play also covers the safe spaces for women and how men and women relate. Harling covers loss, love, strength, and family throughout this work that is so unextraordinary yet amazing at the same time, fully highlighting human strength that often goes unnoticed. By showing how women simply interact with each other on an everyday basis, the audience is able to fully recognize the strength of character that permeates all people in small ways. A gripping tale of dedication and unconditional love, Steel Magnolias remains a poignant work that is still valid today.
The most prominent woman figure in this play is Linda, but the male characters in this play also give us insight into women’s roles and help feed the feminist analyses
Most romantic comedy movies fulfil the viewers’ expectations of the perfect love story whilst incorporating comedic elements. Typically there is always a pretty girl who falls deeply in love with a male character, often less popular and less attractive, who makes multiple comedic attempts in winning her heart until eventually they both fall madly in love and live happily ever after, in this case a genre movie is expressed as “those commercial feature films which through repetition and variation, tell familiar stories with familiar characters in
In Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Holly GoLightly battles with a psychological struggle between the basic need for stability and the aspiration for freedom. Throughout the book, Holly is coded as various animals symbolizing her independence. She fears being captured by her feelings of belongingness. Although she may toy with the idea of personal connection through superficial relationships, she ultimately chooses isolation, which she believes, is freedom.
Beauty has been a word that people use to described objects, things and most important people. Beauty can be defined in so many ways. The play “Beauty” written by Jane Martin has more than just one meaning. The author uses beauty to be her main objective that makes almost every situation in the play revolve around “beauty.” Being that beauty is considered something almost all women want and it can lead to devastation when you get greedy and envious about it, as it did to both Carla and Bethany.
