7.Q4 Script for the animated video below
Introduction
Your goal is to stop the pirates (aarrgh). No not those pirates. You will be creating a poster discouraging others from illegally downloading and reproducing content from the Internet (pirating). Your poster should have a clear message. Remember, copying copy protected music, movies, and games is stealing and it is harmful to the creative artists, musicians, developers and others involved in the work. To create your poster you may use various media such as digital photography, drawing tools, downloaded images, as well as online sites. Check with your teacher to find out what application should be used to create your poster. Some online
Complete the poster presentation using one of the templates provided as a guide. The poster presentation must include a description of the selected topic, the components of the topic, why there is a need for change, the theory you will use for a change to occur, and an evaluation plan for the change. The finished Assignment should be a Poster Project, excluding the title page and references. The writing should be well ordered, logical, and unified, as well as original and insightful;
(Just as a side note, I had pictures of the posters in the original paper but couldn 't transfer them to here. The first link in the bibliography has tons of WW1 propaganda posters you can use.)
Posters are splashy, large-format images, which are accompanied by a short text. Usually, the purposes of the posters are to agitate, advertise, inform, or teach people. Posters from World War I and World War II often used metaphors, different figures, events, and places. During the First World War propaganda posters were enormously widespread. Artists used them to agitate people to conscription, subscriptions to war loans, and aid to the wounded soldiers. One of the most important posters from World War I and World War II is “I Want You for U.S. Army” by James Mantgomery Flagg. This poster is very influential because of its figure, the message, and the effect on the people.
The legendary “We Can Do It” poster was created by the magnificent graphic artist J. Howard Miller in 1942. The poster featuring Geraldine Hoff Doyle first appeared during World War II in Westinghouse factories before making its way to the streets of popular cities for everyday people to see. Rosie the Riveter was advertised all over America. There was not one American woman who could not identify the illustrious riveter. In today’s times, there still remain countless Americans that are acquainted with her notorious slogan, face and posture. Everyone knows the importance that Rosie the Riveter left on the culture. However, numerous people may have overlooked some significant signs of empowerment in the poster that also contributed to her legendary
In the movie, “On The WaterFront”, I would apply the theory of virtue ethics to the problem that Terry faced in corrupt union. According to virtue ethics, “we know what is morally correct because it is what the virtuous person or one who has good characters would do” (module 7). Virtue ethics is different than the theory of utilitarianism and deontologism. The action isn’t judged by its outcome or rule but by a person who acts. Virtue ethics looks deeply into a person’s soul. It looks for a person’s good characteristics. It claims that no matter what you do as long as your are a virtuous person, your action is morally correct. For instance, a honest person is put into a situation where he has to choose either to tell his Mom about his Dad’s affair or not to. He loves both of his parents. He knows his Mom would leave the house if she knew the truth. He nevers wants them to be separated. His Dad will be in big trouble if his secret gets revealed. But, it wouldn’t be fair for Mom staying home and cooking for the family while Dad is happy with another woman. Also, he never hides things from his parents before. Therefore, he decides to tell his Mom the truth despite of the fear of separation and Dad being mad at him. We are not born with innate good character traits. We develop good potential from time to time as we grow. In order to develop virtues, we have to keep practicing them until they become a habit.
The first element of art present in this poster is the value of the poster. The dark brown colors allow the rest of the poster to really pop when looking at it from a distance. An example of a principle of design is the rhythm of the poster which is very much noticeable with all the players organized across the poster evenly. This allows the poster to feel like it has a visual tempo when looking at it. The next principle of design represented in this poster is the harmony which is shown with the accompanying text styles. This is achieved by repletion and small changes which is present in the photo. The second element of art that is represented by this poster is the shape of it. The poster is flat and is limited in height and width. These are just two examples of both the elements of art and the principles of
“On the Waterfront” was photographed in such a captivating way. Boris Kaufman had a vision ahead of his time. Many scenes in the movie are understood, not just through the script, but from the cinematography as well. Three scenes in particular catch my eye. It is the artistic style and flare of conveying the same idea in multiple mediums. The first scene is when Terry and Edie are on the rooftop at Joey’s pigeon coup. This scene portrays the moment in which I believe was the catalyst for Terry that lead him to be truthful to Evie and stand up to Friendly. The second scene that I will speak about is when “Kayo” Dugan is killed. When the preacher is giving his speech to all the longshoremen. That speech was a testament of one man speaking out for what he knew was right. The third scene that I will choose for this essay is where Terry walks to Friendly’s dock office. After the fight, Terry’s march to work puts you on the edge of your seat. Each scene has depth that few movies achieve.
Holden’s appreciation for the museum and the way he acts with adults illustrates his unwillingness to enter the adult world and leave his comforting childhood. Holden is a teenager who is about to become an adult, but he does not want to and is not ready yet. For example, Holden demonstrates that he wants to remain a child when he visits the museum. The museum is a place of solace for Holden and appealed to him because of its unchanging state. Holden does not like change and likes when things, such as the exhibits in the museum, are unchanging. He says, “the best thing… was that everything always stayed right where it was. Nobody’d move” (121). He feels comfortable with things that he already knows and has experienced; this is likewise the
The visual components are very important because this is the way to send my argument message to the audience. The visual components in my poster are the use of colors, use of images, use of font and text, and choice of word. I think I used the colors very well. For example, the color for advantages was green which is mean something good. And for disadvantages, the color was red
What i mean by that is, the images i wanted to use in the poster, also the message on the actual poster. I did not want to use a picture that would be offensive, gruesome, and/or inappropriate to the #BlackLivesMatter movement. My primary audience is all men and women, all ages in the United States. I anticipate this concrete audience will respond to the PSA in a negative and positive way. Negative in the sense of all races not being represented and positive in a way that gives those who have lost their lives due to the police a
On the Waterfront is a classic, award-winning and controversial film. It received eight academy-awards in 1954, including best-picture and director. The director, Eliza Kazan, in collaboration with Budd Schulberg wrote the film’s screenplay. Based on actual dockside events in Hoboken, New Jersey, On the Waterfront is a story of a dock worker who tried to overthrow a corrupt union.
Alice and Jack are both in the ocean each getting chased by pirates. Alice is the good guy getting chased by the bad guys when Jack is the bad guy and is getting chased by the good guys. Alice survived the pirates and Jack also survived the people who were trying to capture him.. They both get off their ships and are on land. Jack is hiding and Alice is not hiding. In Alice through the looking glass there is an ocean of time and in Pirates of the Caribbean there is one world. and there is no ocean of time. Alice goes to another world in the movie while Jack only has one world in the movie. Both Alice and Jack are running from someone in the movie one of them is good Alice is running from while one of them is a bad guy that Jack is running
Have you ever wondered what music piracy, or did you already know but never knew both sides? Well music piracy is the large scale, of unauthorized duplication of recorded music with the intent to defraud the copyright holder of his/her royalties; this includes the composers, lyricists and performing artist. The importance of music piracy is that it impacts the music industry causing them to lose billions of dollars each year. Some people feel like music piracy is stealing , and should be illegal because it causes millions of people to lose their jobs due to the lack of money being made.
Movie posters are meant to capture the audience’s interest and reel them into going to the movie they are each individually presenting. Some posters do their job in catching the audience’s attention and some just don’t create any interest. Whether it creates interest from the audience or not mainly depends upon the visual aspects of it. These aspects include alignment, repetition, contrast, balance, direction, color, and font. Other aspects that most posters try to achieve that aren’t necessarily visual are appealing to the audience, showing the purpose, and staying on the right side of ethics. Also most of all movie posters contain the aspects of ethos, pathos, and logos.
Pirates of the Caribbean was the first film of Pirates. The whole movie was about Pirates, their lifestyle such as stealing a boat from other people which were shown in the movie when Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) stole a boat from the British people. Other fascinating facts which I found about pirates were shown in the movie when they showed a couple of punishments for pirates who committed crimes and of course the myth of mermaids which for me was inaccurate. This movie was released in 2003 and was directed by Gore Verbinski.
