Stressed Out By TWENTY ØNE PILØTS Stressed Out is by a band named TWENTY ØNE PILØTS. It appears to be about a song that focuses on nostalgia (a sentimental longing or wistful affection for a period in the past) for childhood, the pressure of becoming an adult and adulthood, family and relationships. This song speaks from the point of view of "Blurry face", which is the albums title character. In the lines "I was told when I get older all my fears would shrink" this is when all of his stress starts and also in the line "But now I'm insecure and I care what people think". Later on in the song, lyrics said are "Out of student loans and tree house homes we all would take the latter", meaning that student loans and grow larger and larger, …show more content…
"Blurry face" is all of the built up manifestation/ demonstration of all of Tyler's bad side; all of his doubts, fears, and self-loathing. "Blurry face" makes Tyler think way to much about what other people think of him-self, and over all exaggerating his insecurities. When you first hear about "Blurry face" in the pre chorus, it is the first direct mention of "Blurry face" in both the song and the album Blurry face. Blurry faces' character sings in a very similar register to Tyler, as this differs from the deep-voiced rapping featured on other songs. This also suggests that there are many different aspects to "Blurry face" and who he is, and has also started to take over more of Tyler's personality, essentially blurring the distinction between the two of …show more content…
I think this song makes me have a deeper feeling when listening to the songs audio, and breaking down the words one by one, as it feels like "Blurry face" is always on your back, but you ponder for something greater than what you are going through at the moment. Its supposedly going through what life is going to be like in the future, and can also be a realization that I've been using something such as music as a distraction, and how you can he in awe of what you've been so unconsciously doing and how long it has taken me and other s to realize it. What I like most about these lyrics is how in "Stressed Out" it alternates between the point of view of a character "BLURRYFACE" who is a representation of Tyler's insecurities and the anxious Tyler feeling intense nostalgia about his childhood. It's about a wish to regain all the innocence of your childhood, in which it existed before insecurity and all of your money troubles became a big problem. It suggests that Tyler and Joseph have a state of crippling nostalgia and that perhaps even an arrested development. What I can see throughout these lyrics is that there is a repetitive feeling of
He mentions the fight in the House of Representatives that broke out, in relation with the civil rights bill. He also about the equality between black and white people in the 1960’s. At this point this is being read the words “all is calm, all is bright” this completely contrast from the subject about racism but the song is representing a sense of tranquillity as if everything is okay when it is not.
This is what they call imagery. The singer is saying be yourself do not follow others, be yourself and don’t let your perse stop you. Later on in the song it say,”The ice we skate is getting pretty thin/ The water’s getting warm so you might as well swim/ My worlds on fire. How about yours/ That’s the way I like it and i’ll never get bored.” (Smash Mouth) This entire line of the song describes stress and it will try to stop you from being you, but when he rose up and he made a difference and forgot all about the stress he once had. The first part of the lyric is a simile. The final lyric in the song that is important is,” Somebody once asked could I spare some change for gas/ I need to get myself away from this place/ I said yep, what a concept/I could use a little fuel myself/ And we could all use a little change.”( Smash Mouth) What he means by this is people ask him what he did to become this famous and he said,”you have to follow your dreams.” This is an example of a
The symbolism in this song is that life is hard for other members of the society. This song regards a man trying/ resolving to alter his ways before starting to change the world. This
On page 76 the entirety of the stanza is a happy tone of nostalgia. The whole stanza is the child remembering his life as a wonderful time filled with imagination and freedom. He is reminding the reader of how amazing his life was compared to his life now. Collins utilizes this tone to really ingrain in the reader that the kids younger life really was fantastic, and it sets of the reader to for a more dismal feeling when the next stanza comes around. This stanza is so exciting and it gets the reader to remember the extravagant stories they used to imagine with utter joy. This happiness is directly contrasted by the rest of the poem. Collins does a great job of distracting the reader and makes them almost forget about the sadness they read in the previous stanza so they get hit really hard with the sadness again. this is exactly how the child feels about growing up. In the final stanza the child says, “This is the beginning of sadness, I say to myself, as I walk through the universe in my sneakers.” (76). The child recognizes that he must grow up and let go of what he used to hold dear at younger ages. The boys feeling are expressed as laborious and distressed, the boy clearly does not want to grow up, yet he is extremely saddened by the fact that he has to. The reader shares the kids feeling of sadness because like
Angelou, in the first stanza, she talks about being characterized very negatively. This can be the effect of the history during the time that Angelou grew up, back when segregation was allowed in the United States. The “bitter” and “twisted lies” can represent the racist and negative comments that people made and thought during this time. Line three may illustrate the hate crimes that
The tone of this song expresses an attitude of not caring what life presents to the artist, he'll be fine. He describes a virtual experience making life about getting intoxicated or high, and glamorizes the effects these substances have. The lyrics insist that these substances are necessary for this pursuit of happiness Kid Cudi is on. When someone is under the influence typically they feel at ease and this song is supposed to replicate that feeling.
Once I was able to associate these words to emotions and issues present in everyday life, the poem started to make me feel sad. I began thinking about all of the emotions and feelings that everyone hides as they go about life. For example, how the waitress I see once a week may have an eating disorder, or how the singer I look up to just lost her son, or the businessman who got laid off today. Everyone has their own personal battle that they carry everywhere, at any given moment. This explains why the setting is so plain, since the internal struggles people face affect them even at a bus stop. While each person waits, the waitress may be thinking about how much skinnier the person next to her is. The singer could be remembering when she held her baby. And the business man could be planning how to break the news to his wife. No matter how small, everyone experiences a type of trauma or bad experience, and this poem seemed to show what happens when these emotions become bottled up. No one can help each other because they are so stuck within their own issues. The difficulty helping others reminded me of the idea of having to take care of yourself before being able to take care of others.
This theme is brought through the song by showing multiple literary devices. Such as “I'm the one at sail, I’m the master of my sea”. This metaphor shows the realization and empowerment that oneself can give in a depressing situation. This simile “Falling like ashes to the ground, Hoping my feelings they would drown” compares his feeling of sadness and depression to ashes, and wanting them to drown and vanish, from his life. This line, “All the hate that you’ve heard has turned your spirit to a dove” explains how all of the hate that he has experienced and gone through has turned his feelings around, and decided to look on the bright side of things. Personally I think this is a great
The song talks about being in a state of “rigor mortis” which can translate to a person having no energy needed to go with their life. Then it transitions to an uplifting tone saying “Til you hit the ocean And you turn Californian You don't have to have the answers Don’t you worry,” in other words you don’t need a plan just do what feels right to you, there’s no need to feel stress. The singer, throughout the song keeps reassuring the audience, for example, “It's gonna be alright If you're on a sinking ship The California kids Will throw you a lifeline,” going to California can be liberating and can ease your worries. Cuomo's experience helps the listeners feel safe and he also encourages them to be stress free because stress leads to depression which can cause life threatening
The reason Torres is performing this song is because she is in a coma and essentially her spirit is singing to herself to make own self wake up from her coma. In the beginning since she is in a coma, it represents death as she is at the end of the symbolic cycle, death. She starts by saying "So many stories of where I've been" which shows she has experience of life and she is at the west side where she is an adult knowing everything. As Torres is singing, she is walking through the hospital as she gets closer to willing herself to wake up. One of the reasons was her girlfriend, Arizona Robbins, who loves her and she has her child Sofia to fight for. Her child, Sofia, represents life and birth as she beings her symbolic cycle. Most of this song is about being experienced as Torres says she has "climbed mountain tops" and "swam all across the ocean blue" and by her saying this, she is motivating herself to wake up and be strong for everyone. Also she talks about how everyone around her is ignorant. "And all of my friends who think that I'm blessed, they don’t know my head is a mess. No they don’t know who I really am". This quote from the song proves her point how no one realizes how much she has been struggling in her life and how she has had that pain of experience and depression from everyone. The song starts the same as "How to Save a Life" with a calm and softer beginning. As
Based off the lyrics, the song is all about how Beyonce truly feels deep down inside. The message behind
These specific lyrics explain how even though you’re handed one thing, it doesn’t always mean it will happen. Not only that but also, how you can learn to fight when new opportunities present themselves. “Love and the loyalty that's what we stand for, Alienated by society, all this pressure give me anxiety, Walk slow through the fire, Like, who gon' try us?, Feeling the world go against us, So we put the world on our shoulders”. Now, what these lyrics portray are the journeys the 3 are in the mitts of while seeking a new fate that is currently unknown. Under the circumstances, because of how their society is formed, they feel as if their families abandoned them or let them down, because it’s law, that they are now forced to ultimately trust each other with how the fates have all been crossed for them. Therefore, it’s up to them too, “put the world on our shoulders”, and try and figure out what’s next for them individually and together. Along with, how they will survive and get along with each other. Lev, Connor, and Risa have to make difficult decisions in order to know what the world will bring in their
It highlights the struggles that are happening for people. There are some great guitar riffs and distortion. It has a verses/chorus composition. The song is a little bit slower to begin, but soon picks up the tempo, it is a great song to sing along because the lyrics are not distorted by the instruments, like you find with some other bands. This song was written by Richie Sambora, Jon Bon Jovi, and Desmond Child.
The first verse of the song shares the troubled relationship between the father and son, when it said, “he came to the world in the usual way, but there were planes to catch and bills to pay. He learned to walk while I was away.” This verse explained that he was away on some type of career to make money for the family, and provide for the son financially. However, he wasn’t able to spend quality time with him, and missed important milestones in his life, such as taking his first steps. His career obviously came before his son and family, and he made excuses for that. Then it finishes with the chorus, which says, “when you
This very slow song, so in my opinion I think it reinforces a sense of bittersweet, because even though she mentions how she wants to be remembered for the good things that she did she also mentions death and regrets in her song.
