Introduction:
In a game of Basketball the free throw is the most important shot in the game of Basketball, research has been conducted and nearly twenty percent of all points in College (NCAA) Division 1 Basketball were mainly scored from free throws (Kozar, Vaughn, Lord, Whitfield, & Dve, 1994). As the game progresses, the shot becomes more imperative later in the game (Kozar et al., 1994). The free throw would be considered one of the easiest shots in the game (Okubo & Hubbard, 2006), considering that the player is all alone, with no defensive players surrounding him and very little considerable amount of distractions (decides the admirers). A skilled intercollegiate team should be capable of shooting at least 80% or more from the free throw line, but very few teams are able to achieve that goal for whatever reason. Successful free throw shooting requires good concentration and most importantly have good mechanics throughout the whole motion of the shot. Which is why I decided to do my thesis on the analytical mechanics of the free throw. Throughout this paper I will be discussing about non-linear ordinary differential equations, angular velocity, the reaction force, velocity, and the contact point extension of the elbow motion measurements hyperextension on the wrist,….
By understanding the relationship between work, power and energy we can improve performance of a free throw. All these components of power, work and energy are present when the athlete is bending
“Swish”, the ball goes through the net! I often wonder how some of the best basketball players get to be so accurate with their shot. Basketball shooting form has changed many times over the years, and all of the great shooters today spend hours on end perfecting the process that they go through every time they take a shot. The process of shooting a basketball is very important.

There is a serious debate in the track and field community as to whether there is more benefit, namely increased distances, to be gained in the throwing events from improvements in technique versus improvements in strength. While this debate focuses primarily on the shot put and discus events, the events studied in this research, it is equally true for all the throwing events. As a significant part of the throwing community, the United States is thought of as a nation that focuses too much on strength, at the expense of technique.
Ten decades of athletic improvements will have yielded the ability to dunk on a fourteen-foot rim, but dunking is still rare enough among the general populace that basketball rims will remain at their customary ten feet. However, robotic implants in human limbs have augmented humanity's collective athleticism and propelled it to new heights. Relying on the natural actions of our muscles, these implants amplify what our bodies already do. Neither the high school game nor the professional game (the college game has long since been dismantled) allow these implants in their players, but independently-run amateur leagues featuring players so implanted begin to gain large followings. The rims in these games are set at fifteen feet, and there is very little jumpshooting; most plays involve a series of in-air alley-oop passes attempting to get a player open for a dunk. Astute readers will note that this new "dunkball" is the spiritual successor to the unheralded and forgotten "slamball", which was played in trampolines in the early 2000's to audiences of a few
The purpose of this project is to analyze an overhand volleyball serve from a biomechanical perspective. Biomechanics is defined as forces and movements on living systems. It looks at the internal and external forces that act on the body, and the movements that these forces create. By understanding the biomechanical concepts, you can train your body to move with accuracy. It also enables us to develop new skills, correct minor mistakes, develop new equipment design, and improve safety to reduce the risk for injury. The volleyball serve almost looks like a throw-like movement because the joints used extend one after another. The reason behind this is that within the movement, the shoulder extends before the elbow and wrist; the shoulder actually begins to extend while the elbow is still
I would want to research the basketball shooting physics is because I love to play basketball and I really want to improve my shooting. I have been playing basketball for a long time, and I think I would play basketball for a long time so why not improve it.A lot of other friends and classmates loves to play basketball so when I see some people that needs help I could help them with their shooting. I hope that my research could help a lot to my basketball shooting.
The reason that I choose to compare the free throw percentage of a NBA player and the players height is because I play basketball through North Eugene High School. I am one of the shortest people on the team and I wanted to know if the shorter NBA players have a higher free throw percentage.
free throw. I thought by looking more closely at the details of a movement I
Thesis: This paper argues that basketball is the most difficult sport, for a number of reasons that will be pointed out through the literature on the game, the coaches, and the players.
Method: The procedure for this experiment involved having a person throw a basketball across a distance while recording a video of the ball's path. A more condensed version is down below. Procedure: •
When a basketball player establishes basketball-specific strength training program the athlete will advance in every characteristic of their game. The athlete’s acceleration and quickness on the basketball court. They will also see an intensification percentage assortment of shots and passes. The athlete’s explosive dominance in fastidious with their vertical jump will ominously convalesce. It should also be stipulated that vigorous strength training for basketball players can also drastically diminish the probability of communal joint and tendon injuries. The remunerations from off season training organize joints, ligaments, tendons for penetrating effort in consequent training phases. It also helps to equalize the right and left side of
The authors conducted this study to see how and when this ability in humans evolved by studying the mechanics used in throwing. They compared the mechanics of throwing of humans to that of chimpanzees. The authors said that previous studies found that the internal rotator muscles are responsible fort the power of the human throw. The investigators hypothesize that the elastic energy storage is the important source for this power. They also stated that other features of the human shoulder are important in storing this energy and
The more and more I look around I begin to see how physics are integrated into practically everything that we do. These things would surely go unnoticed without making a conscious effort to notice them. For example simple things like riding a bike, or driving a car, or playing catch with a son or daughter. Just as these activities are loaded with elements of physics, sports are also, especially basketball. Physics play a part in every aspect of the game, from dribbling, passing, and shooting, to things as simple as setting a screen. First we should take a look at the elements of dribbling.
There are many aspects to the game of basketball and physics can be applied to all of them. Although to be good at basketball it is not necessary to play it from a physics point of view. Basketball players become good by developing muscle memory for the actions that must be performed in the game of basketball from years of practice. Nevertheless knowing some of the physics in the game of basketball can help a good player be a better player. In this paper I will cover the three most important aspects of the game, shooting, dribbling and passing.
