Being socially and emotionally abused is devastating and the effects on family members of the person who is socially and emotionally abused, like being suicidal, can be severe. One of the negative impacts an entire family will have when dealing with one of their members that are going through social and emotional abuse is that they will feel scared, guilty and frustrated from all the speculations that they hear every day, from the people in their community telling them that they contributed to the development of their family member's social and emotional abuse. Also, when a member of the family is suffering from social and emotional abuse, but has not properly examined and treated, it will put their family members in a difficult position when

Imagine in a place where everyone that you knew all displayed depression and everyone lead to giving up. And you were the only one that saw the world as a beautiful place. How would you help others in need? There would be no one trying to help one another and you were the only one that wanted to help everyone else. What if everyone you knew were getting hurt all the time and were always fighting for no real reason what would you say to try to help them get back on their feet? If you were the one that everybody dependent on what would you tell them to try to solve their problems? Most people don’t know what to do in these sorts of situations. Therefore they look for help or stay in their comfort zone and stay quite as long as they can or solve their own problems. The government has all the power in the United States it is only right that they should spend money on programs for people that may suffer from depression or suicidal thoughts.
STEP 1:Suicide and the effects it leaves on their Families. I choose to write about Suicide and the affects it leaves on the individual 's families. Once you have dealt with this personally you won’t understand what those families have gone through.
A person who is physically abused reacts in society differently then others. The way a person interact socially molds the way society accepts and works with them. Teisl and Cicchetti (2008) study showed that children who are maltreated are more aggressive and disruptive them those who are not maltreated. People develop the basis how is it appropriate to act in society at a young age. When trauma takes place, like physical abuse, it disrupts the process. Some research done on students in high school has shown that the abuse had lower effectiveness. This may mean that the students are able to develop effective coping skills or that the full effects have not yet emerged (Kamsner & McCabe, 2000). It was made known
The Psychological Model of Abuse tells us how families function. It also tells us that when a family breakdown occurs it should be recognised as a family dysfunction. “A dysfunctional family is a family, in which conflict, misbehaviour, and often abuse on the part of individual members of the family occur continually and regularly, leading other members to accommodate such actions.” (www.en.wikipedia.org, 01.03.2011). Taking this quote into consideration it tells us that all of the problems within the one family are taken out on one child. However it could also mean that all the children in the family are abused. This is often referred as a scapegoat which means that the families’ problems are recognised in one of the family members. This theory believes that if the family takes part in a therapy it will restore any deprived relationships. Therefore this therapy will prevent the children or child in the family from getting abused. However I do not believe that taking part in a therapy will stop someone from abusing their
Researchers conduct hypotheses that suicide could be contagious. Researchers had a total of 22,064 individuals ages 12 to 17. When conducting the study they met on cycles to monitor the exposure to suicide. All groups which were separated into age had an outcome of 95% of exposure to suicide. Researchers also questioned how often certain groups were or had feelings of depression or suicidal thoughts from stressful events during the cycles. In further research, 24.1% from the ages 16 and 17 responded that someone from school has committed suicide and which 20.1%
The harshness and length of effects differs depending on the abuse that occurred, the type of child, and the care and treatment. Long term abuse can have short term effects throughout the duration of abuse. Incidents such as abuse by a close friend or family member, long term abuse and self-blame, add to the chance of a negative effect. “Some studies have shown that as many as 80% of young people at the age of 21, who have a history of abuse or neglect in childhood, meet the criteria of at least one psychiatric disorder” (Jelic Tusic, Buljan Flander, & Mateskovic, (2013). Physical effects, like impairment to a child’s developing brain, can have consequences like cognitive delays or emotional problems. Psychological issues frequently display high-risk behaviors. Things like depression and anxiety could influence someone to smoke, abuse drugs and/or alcohol, or overeat. High risk behaviors can lead to health issues such as sexually transmitted diseases, cancer, and obesity. Child physical abuse is reportedly more likely to occur in females than males. Those who experience the abuse are more likely to be widowed, separated, or divorced and to have accomplished a lower educational success. “A majority of victims of CPA had a lifetime history of a least one psychiatric disorder” (Sugaya, Hasin,
There are significant signs of psychological trauma due to any kind of abuse. Children experience feelings of low self esteem and depression. Many exhibit behavioral problems including aggression towards other children. Other emotional problems include hostility, fear, humiliation and the inability to express feelings. The social impacts of physical abuse include inability to form relationships, poor social skills, poor cognitive language skills, distrust of others, over-compliance with authority figures, and tendency to solve interpersonal problems with aggression. (2008, p. 1). Verbal and physical abuse has a cumulative impact on children’s socialization. Abused children are caught in damaged relationships and are not socialized in positive, supportive way (Craig & Dunn, Ex.: 2010, p. 196). They learn defiance, manipulation and other problem behaviors that are used to escape any maltreatment. In turn they will learn to exploit, degrade and terrorize.
Durkheim argues that the suicide rate is a social factor that can be interpreted as an indicator for social solidarity within a society (http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/BF01114474).
Thesis: While Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem, I believe That Suicide is wrong.
The terminally ill patient should not be blamed and criminalized for allowing physicians to take their own lives. This also holds true for the severely disable who also may wish to end their life to their disability and life style. The one with a terminal illness may have to suffer the intolerable pain physically, but with overwhelming emotional and mental anguish. Unless you have been in their shoes, one can not fully imagine and understand what lives may go through and manage. Although there are some religious prohibit assisted the suicide of the terminally ill and severely, but they should consider that in special circumstances due to pain and suffer from patients and their family give the choice to them to decide about their own lives.
One of the most provocative and powerful ways of treating depression is through picking up the phone and calling a hotline.
Suicide is a major problem worldwide; especially for teenagers. Self image plays a big roll in American society today, especially in enabling someone to make a wrong and destructive decision like suicide. Self image and low esteem effect the chances of a teenagers suicide greatly. There are many events that lead up to a young persons suicide, for instance a little problem that seems inescapable which manifests themselves into overwhelming burdens. Detection and prevention are both key for adults and young people to stop suicide from happening.
Child sexual abuse has been reported up to 80,000 times a year, but the number of unreported instances is far greater, because the children are afraid to tell anyone what has happened (American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry). Childhood sexual abuse is a traumatic experience affecting the lives of not only the victim, but those close to the victim as well. Many think there is only one person truly traumatized, but in fact, everyone involved is affected. The victim has to deal with their experience the rest of their lives. They may be more at risk for other mental issues as well, including depression. The family involved has to deal with its pain, often causing hardship and discord within the family. This is especially true
Someone, somewhere, commits suicide every 18 minutes. You might never be able to tell who it will be, it could be the person sitting right next . Statistics reveal that approximately three million youths, between 12-18, have either thought about or attempted suicide in the past year. More than 1/3, actually succeeded.
