Research Paper: 9/11
George W. Bush once said that “Our enemies have made the mistake that America’s enemies always make. They see liberty and think they saw weakness.” 9/11 was a devastating day in American history. Men, from the terrorist group Al Quada, attacked America on their own soil for the first time since Japan attack us at Pearl Harbor. But there are some things we can isolate from it. The basic overview of it. What were the terrorists doing to get ready for the day, and what was their major purpose and intention. First off the basic overview of 9/11. The day is September 11, 2001. Just a normal day to everyone. The world is at peace. 7:35: Atta and al-Omari board American Airlines Flight 11. Five minutes later the rest of the Flight 11 hijackers board the airplane. 7:59: Flight 11, carrying 81 passengers and 11 crew members, departs from Logan International Airport in Boston, its destination being Los Angeles International Airport in Los Angeles, California. 8:14: Flight 11 is hijacked when hijackers Waleed and Wail al-Shehri rise from seats 2A and 2B and stab two flight attendants. Atta rises from seat 8D and approaches the cockpit. Within minutes, he is at the controls. 8:14, United Airlines Flight 175, carrying 56 passengers and nine crew members, also departs from Logan International Airport in Boston; its destination was also Los Angeles International Airport. Five hijackers are aboard. 8:19, Betty Ong, a flight attendant on Flight 11 alerts
The late 1990’s into the early 2000’s was a time of great economic success that took a turn for the worst as the war against terrorism began. In America, the economy was at its peak especially on Wall Street until September 11th 2001. The attacks that occurred on September 11th deeply affected America. The attacks caused the Dow to drop tremendously along with causing the recession to deepen. America was led into of the biggest government spending periods in a long time. The cost to fund the war along with to rebuild the economy held a toll on all Americans. America had to dig itself out of a hole. Unlike the economy, technology was on the rise. Many new inventions such as wireless internet, mobile devices, and new forms of social media were created.
September 11, 2011, started like every normal day in New York City. People rushing to work, children going to school, and people taking a morning walk or jog. But no one knew that this day would turn into a horror film. A terrorist organization call al-Qaeda hijacked airplanes and hammered them into the World Trade Centers North and South Tower along with the Pentagon in Washington D.C. The September 11, 2001, attacks changed America forever (9/11 Attacks - 102 minutes That Changed America).
The morning of 9/11 I wasn’t going to go to work because I had an allergy appointment,
On the morning of September 11, 2001, an Islamic terrorist group known as al-Qaeda carried out a series of four attacks on the United States. The most well-known attack is when two commercial airline planes crashed into the Twin Towers in New York City. Many innocent lives were lost and families were torn apart. While many Americans were determined to show their resilience towards the attacks, this is a day many Americans will never forget. Although the attacks happened sixteen years ago, Americans are still dealing with the impacts these attacks have had on life in America. The 9/11 attacks have had several long-lasting effects on everyday life in America, some of which include an increase in airport security, a change in national security, and an increase the fear of terrorism.
9/11 was one of the darkness days in this country’s history and was absolutely a disaster. The death toll of 9/11 did not just stop with that day but followed into the months and years after. The original death toll of 9/11 was 3000 and hundreds of thousands died in the two wars that followed, in the first 18 months 100,000 Iraqis died, even more US troops did as well I’m sure. Of the 3000 that died on 9/11 200 of them were “jumpers” they were 7-8% of those who died that day. That was a very powerful piece that put those people’s choice into perspective. They knew that they were going to die they just had a choice to make. Either burning or suffocating to death or jump out of the window dying quickly and painlessly. When someone has to make a choice like that you know that whatever is going on is a disaster.
It’s a warm Sunday afternoon at Newark International Airport in Newark, New Jersey and my bags are filled with clothes like I am filled with excitement. I close my eyes and imagine the coastal calmess of Barcelona, tounges releasing the Catalan language while I strolled in awe. Take a turn and suddenly it’s the bustling streets of Paris, Seine River bridges and towering landmarks all in the name of liberté, fraternité, et égalité.
Multiple groups and civilians have responded to the terrorist attack 9/11 in different ways, having different viewpoints, values, and ideologies. George W.Bush who was the President of the United States of America at the time of the 9/11 terrorist attacks was against what occurred. George W.Bush talks about the incident as being a monumental day in our nations history, and how he went from being a “President primarily focused on domestic issues to a war time President”, something he never anticipated or wanted (27). George W.Bush valued America and it’s rights to freedom and believed that whoever was responsible for this act of terrorism is held responsible. His values and beliefs can be seen as a conservatism ideology as he believes terrorists must be stopped and destroyed, he doesn’t believe that militant Islamists can peacefully co-exist with the Western world, forever will be on going attacks on America implicated by Islamic terrorists (28). Conservatisms believe that terrorism posses one of the greatest threats to the United States of America (34).
In the U.S. today, one of the biggest threats our country faces today is that of terrorism. Terrorism has been around for hundreds of years, but only in recent years has it become so infamous. It is the cause of countless discussions and debates about what should be done about this sensitive topic. Terrorism is defined as, “the unlawful use of violence and intimidation against civilians for political goals.” As such, the vast majority of terror victims are innocent. No other terrorist act has claimed more innocent victims than 9/11. On September 11th, 2001, 19 hijackers recruited by terrorist group Al-Qaeda took control of four airline jets. At 8:46 AM, American Airlines Flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York
The Western World is a constantly changing machine, steadily moving forward in technology, in quality of life, and in culture. These changes are usually controlled and consistent. The terrorist attcks that occurred on September 11th changed all of that. In one morning, four airplanes changed America's quality of life and culture. Americans belived it's country was invunerable to an attack. Two Generations have passed since the last attack on American soil, and that was thousands of miles of the mainland in Hawaii. The attack on Pearl Harbor changed the face of America, just as September 11th changed the face of America today.
The September 2001 attack in the US that brought fear in this country and other parts of the world demands an increased effort to have a better security policy in the airports. Accordingly, one of the effect of the 9/11 terrorist attack was the government’s decision to come up with laws that are intended to provide better security for airline passengers. The success of the terrorists in planning and fulfilling the attack in September 2001 showed the weakness of the security system in the airports. The government has to respond with the passage of laws in order to deter further terrorism plans in the country. Further, there is also the implementation of guidelines about the screening of passengers and their baggages that may be inconvenient
On the morning of September 11, 2011 at 8:46 am the 1st plane hit the World
With this in mind, one terrorist attack that will forever be remembered is the attack that occurred in September 11, 2001 led by Osama bin Laden. During this attack, terrorists who were ready to kill thousands of innocent people and end their own life as well in the process of doing so hijacked two airplanes. They took over the airplanes and headed straight over to the World Trade Center. One tower was impacted first and the second one was struck minutes later. Suddenly after a couple of minutes after the twin towers were hit, the towers came tumbling down, causing even more panic an terror all throughout New York City and worldwide. Ever since the attacks in 2001, it seems that more and more attacks have transpired over the last couple of years not only by Osama bin Laden but also by al Qaeda, ISIS, and other extremist groups.
With all of the cracks in the ceiling of your bedroom, you can see the stars at night and the sun in the morning. With all of the old rotted hardwood floors, you hope to stay in that room until the morning and not end up in the room below you. At night you start to stare around your room as you fall asleep, then you see a splatter of blood on the wall and you get up and check behind the door and see HELP written all in blood. And at the vent there’s tons of blood leading down it. Then you hear a noise come from the room below, and when you go and see whats making the noise, there’s a girl in a chair and shes all tied up. Then you realize, that girl in the chair is your daughter. Right after you untie her the window bursts wide open with
The terrorist attack that has affected me the most was the one from the 9/11, since then I constantly fear about my security whenever I travel to the big cities such as Washington D.C. or New York City because those are some of the tempting targets. However, the government in hand with the military have done a great job on stabilizing our security, removing the mask off from the negative media that contributes on seeding terror between the citizens. Nevertheless, extreme security measures have been implemented since then, now in order to enter or leave the United States, one most follow and meet strict rules that in the end will be a benefit for our own safety. Yet us the foreigners, are now been treated more strict when it comes to entering
9-11 brings back of flood of memories for just about everyone. So I believe that is why this 9-11 photo pulls on my heart in many different ways. At the same time, it makes me so happy to see our flag still flying high. The saying “A photo is worth a thousand words”. Really backs this photo. By analyzing this photo you can see the heartache, and worn out bodies not giving up. They were each determined to help one another. Among all this in front of the dusted air you can see our flag flying high. The flag is propped on a beam. To me this is symbolizing that we are not defeated. This photo says that WE are The United States of America, and that no matter what we will not be defeated. You can analyze that from our flag that is still flying high in the photo. It also shows how no matter what we all stick together, you see this as there are firefighters, citizens, police, and many more helping to find loved ones. Through the sleepless nights, dusted air, and rubbish. These men and women never gave up. Just by looking at this one photo it says it all United We Stand. United States of America.
