This article examined a study of children that lived in foster care and found that the children had significantly lower gpa’s, changes school more frequently, earned fewer credits toward graduation, had significantly, lower state test scores, and had greater difficulty in reading and math. These results are concerning because it is important that children receive an education and pursue higher education to receive a career. If a child is struggling in their classes, it will discourage them from attending school. The study is used to develop a theoretical model for special needs adoption.
