John may believe he is not responsible for his wife's death and makes, as he was not aware of what Pharma Care intended to do, in terms of producing, promoting, and distributing AD23. It is entirely possible John was working with other pharmacists, with the notion that Pharma Care would file with the FDA and should keep all transactions legitimate, while conducting clinical trials. However, as a pharmacist, John knew the potential side effects and was likely aware of what his wife was taking. Whistleblowerers are protected by law, against actions of retaliation from the employer or former employer, among other things. Companies can intimidate and even cause harm to those wholesale report unethical or illegal activity. John decided to report
Whistle blowing does take courage. There is the risk of being bullied or harassed as a result, but anyone who whistle blows has the right to protection from the person they have raised concerns about. If you suffer as a result of a whistle blowing incident the UK Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998 offers legal protection.
Company X is committed to providing education for each employee to report unethical behavior and resolve conflicts without fear of retaliation. One such example would be the need to report employee theft. Employee theft is not only unethical but could also be criminal in nature. Regardless of employee status (entry level or upper management), each employee should feel it their responsibility to report any unethical behavior they observe. Employee theft can range from theft of money, time, office supplies or merchandise to providing proprietary information to unauthorized entities. These activities can result in a negative public image of Company X and should be reported as quickly as possible. Prior to reporting such offenses, each employee should ensure the accuracy of the evidence they will be reporting. There are various methods to report such abuses including but not limited to an anonymous toll free hot line number, verbal or electronic reporting to the local Human Resources office and the open door policy which encourages employees to approach members of management without the fear of
All employees have a duty of care to report any concerns of abuse they have. These might include evidence or suspicions of bad practice by colleagues and managers (whistleblowing), or abuse by another service user, staff or their family and friends.
a) Pharmacists have ethical and legal obligations to ensure that the prescriptions they fill are valid, both in that the physician must be prescribing the medication for a valid reason and that the person filling the prescription must be doing so for valid therapeutic reasons (ASHP, 2008; Brushwood, n.d.). The court needs to take these obligations into account, and then must determine whether the frequency with which the prescription was refilled would have required a pharmacist to check with the patient's physician or at least another pharmacist in order to determine if the pattern represented abuse (Brushwood, n.d.). The basic considerations before the court, then, are the pattern of behavior (i.e. prescription refilling) represented in the facts and the relationship of this pattern to the legal and ethical standards of pharmacists. The addition was certainly a foreseeable consequence, and this means that standard applications of negligence torts might also be applicable.
2. Muckrakers were writers who exposed corruption and abuse in politics, meatpacking, businesses, child labor, and many more problems. Upton Sinclair wrote The Jungle were he described the unsanitary conditions of the slaughterhouses which many wok and the sale of rotten meat to the public. Theodore Dreiser wrote Sister Carrie were she talked about a young woman’s corrupt morals in Chicago’s rough urban environment. Lincoln Steffens published The Shame of the Cities which showed how political corruption profited business leaders and party leaders. Ida Tarbell exposed Rockefeller’s Standard Oil Company over its arrogance and economic machinations.
The allegations by Robin Horvath against the Packo Family and Mrs. Dooley occurred in June of 2010 bringing to the forefront a civil case in which Mr. Horvath sued the Packo Family and Mrs. Dooley. Mr. Horvath accused the Packo’s and Mrs. Dooley of misappropriations of funds, and defrauding the company of over $300,000. Mr. Horvath then notified the Board of Directors about this issue, and after bringing this issue to the board he was subsequently fired.

There are different ways of reporting prohibited activities in the healthcare setting, it just depends on what the activity is that you are reporting. For example, how people report medicaid fraud.
In the novel and film “The Whistleblower” the authors and directors did great jobs making you really connect with characters and sympathize with more than one of them. It was a story that really made you feel an emotional rollercoaster, at least with me there was anger, sadness, frustration, confusion and more. At the same time as there were negative feelings there were the feelings of hope and cheering for certain characters. No matter what was going on I almost always felt some sort of compassion, sympathy, empathy and apprehension. The authors and directors did a good job of making you feel mainly sympathetic in the entire film/novel. Specifically I was constantly had the feeling of sympathy with the lead character Kathy
This states that you must obey our ethics policy and every employee has a personal responsibility to benefit International Widgets. Even though there is no legal action that can be taken against John Anderson if he is found guilty, International Widgets is well within their right, as an employer to terminate John
Bouville (2008) describes whistleblowing as an act for an employee of revealing what he believes to be unethical or described as an illegal behaviour to a higher management (internal whistleblowing) or to an external authority or the public (external whistleblowing). Whistle-blowers are often seen as traitors to an organisation as they are considered to have violated the loyalty terms of that organisation while some are described as heroes that defend the values and ethics of humanity rather than loyalty to their company. In the medical community, it is the duty of a practitioner aware of patient care being threatened to make it known to those in charge and for those in charge to address the issues and act on it. The General Medical
this is where the behavior is examined and changed by using reprimands or retraining. Finally,
An argument can be made that whistle blowing should only be warranted when there is a group or a majority that feels something should be brought to the attention of an outside authority if deemed so. As discussed in the study the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) determined that since his actions were not a concerted effort among him and his colleagues, the
Whistleblowers perform in many careers and are found at all levels of an organization: scientists and secretaries, lawyers and paralegals, managers and staff, security personnel and computer specialists, etc. They are as varied in age, ethnic background, education, profession, sex, and income as the population at large.
2. What measures can and should be taken to make it easier for corporate employees to ‘‘blow the whistle’’ on a fraudulent scheme they uncovered within the firm?
