Dirt racing is a sport that is growing heavily in popularity. The two main dirt racing series are the World of Outlaws late model series and the Lucas Oil late model series. They both work together in the way that if one has a high paying race that week the other will not race so he other series drivers can racers can have a chance at winning the money. There is 400+ tracks in America and 600+ worldwide their is 30 registered tracks in Wisconsin.With hundreds of drivers with a large majority of them being extremely experienced drivers at it.

When it comes to bob-sledding there are 4 main aspects of a team winning or losing. Acceleration, Drag, Friction and Momentum.

Snowboarding has came along was a was for how it was in 1960s and 1970s it was a skateboard with out wheels it was controlled by rope so you can turn with it and the snowboards did not have binding on it yet. As the snowboarding has been the fastest growing sport in the US there is over 7.2 million and rising. When people go snowboarding they should keep in mind that snowboarding is a risk. When the winter Olympic games snowboarding and skiing can go in the Olympic games and do all this can do to get a medal for doing nice tricks or flips in the air. Snowboarding has it own culture and it own language and its own style after all this years.

In 1988, the Winter Olympics were held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.  One of the most remembered events within the Winter Olympics was the debut of the Jamaican National Bobsled team.  Bobsled is a winter sport in which teams of two or four sled down tight, winding ice tracks.  It is done in a cart that is called a bobsled; “a large usually metal sled used in racing and equipped with two pairs of runners in tandem, a long seat for two or more people, a steering wheel, and a hand brake” (Webster Dictionary). The Jamaican underdogs in the competition were highly underestimated by their opponents. The four historical Jamaican men that participated in the games were considered the most influential bobsledders of all time. Dudley Stokes, Devon Harris, Michael White, and Chris Stokes were the four men that changed the face of bobsleigh.  One of the most common known movies still today that references the 1988 Winter Olympics is called “Cool Runnings.”  Although the situation itself is the same as in the story, the storyline differs from what happens in the movie.

A sturdy bobsled that can hold you and your team is needed. A sturdy bobsled so you don’t get hurt when you slide down the track. Also, the bobsled would hold you and your team’s weight. How fast the bobsled can turn has advanced over time with technology. Safety is also very important in this Olympic sport. The track should be icy for the bobsled to slide down on it. Helmets and goggles are necessary for this sport, for safety precautions for the face and head.

London characterizes the three Americans, Hal, Charles, and Mercedes, as inexperienced dog sled riders, which caused them and thirteen dogs to die. This is because, one, the way they packed the sled. They had overpacked the sled with items that they didn’t need. For example, they packed a tent that they didn’t need because it was spring and warmer outside, they packed canned food which would put more weight on the sled, plates, silverware, and too many clothes. In addition to overpacking, they did not pack the sled well. When the dogs would get going fast and come to a turn, the sled would tip over and the items inside would spill out because it was poorly packed in. Snowboarding is a sport that originated from two pieces of wood. One day tom sims was looking to make a gift for his daughter and he made the snowboard out of two skis. Once other kids saw it, others wanted one. Tom sims ended up making it into a business and selling them from his garage. Then other people heard of the ideas and began to make them. When others made them that was when it started to become more popular. The origin of snowboarding is characterized by, when it was created, who it was created by, and how it was made.

When I think of my best memories, snowboarding is the first thing that comes to mind, those memories are some of my greatest. Going away for a ski or snowboard trip was what I got really excited for. Getting opportunity to explore what the world has to offer. I’ve been to many different hills, all with different experiences. Most good, some bad. Each trip I go on just gets better, and better. Last February my Dad, Brother and I went up to Quebec City for the weekend for a good time to bond and have fun. It was the right time to go up, leaving the province, school, problems and stress all behind us to enjoy the weekend.
