Great post. I agree that supportive care is recommended for viral infection treatment which include; good hand hygiene, increase fluid intake and rest, and close observation (Burns, Dunn, Brady, Starr, Blosser, & Garzon, 2017,). Although it is challenging to convince patients that antibiotics are not needed for viral infections, advanced nurse practitioners should reinforce its importance. My preceptors will reassure the patient, encourage rest, increase fluid intake, and return if condition worsens. I know you have come across such patients. How do you handle such situation?

This is very scary for many people. Nobody wants to go to the hospital go “get better” and then end up with another type of infection. Once again you see this topic a lot in the news, such as the “super bug” and the “MRSA”. Yes, these are all infections and most of them do occur in a healthcare setting. They can be very expensive as well to cure because the antibiotics are so expensive. Really the only way to take control of the spreading of infection is to really have good education from a physician or a nurse. But, once again it is something that you an acquire within the healthcare setting, so you have to make sure that the employees that are working there have the proper training of infection control and they know the proper steps in maintaining the spread of infection. If you are a patient and someone walks into your room to give you medication, take your blood pressure, of assist you in anyway, make sure that they have washed their hands and that they have gloves on. In a healthcare setting it is their job to treat everyone as though they have “something” and they should be taking proper precautions no matter what. A lot of the reason that infections occur in a hospital or nursing facility is because staff members are extremely busy and they are going from room to room to answer bells and take care of their patients, and they don’t always think to stop and wash their hands. Just try to remind them to wash their hands in order to keep yourself
Hi Lora, I liked how you incorporate client-centered approach throughout your initial post. Adding desire goals will increase patient cooperation during treatment sessions. Sharone likes singing and spending time with her family, so in my opinion it will be a good idea to have karaoke every Saturday with her family members. Choosing an easy and favorite song for Sharone could help on her slurs speech, guiding her to hold the microphone with her right hand, will work on right side body awareness/movement and playing don’t forget the lyrics can help her improve her cognition and concentration skills. My documentation will say: Sharone will engage with family members in a social activity with 50% accuracy. She will sing a song of her choice by holding the microphone with right hand. She will start in a standing position for 3-4 minutes, then transition to a sitting position to improve on her standing tolerance.
Advance care planning (ACP) is an nonstop method where the patients, their loved ones, and medical care providers express, on the patient’s desires, importance, and principles explore on how they should enlighten current and future medical care, and essentially, use this to guidance precisely document their future health care alternatives, preferably after an observations of the patient and caregiver’s understanding, worries, ambition, and needs. The timing and variety of ACP may differ depending on if the person is healthy, has gentle to unremarkable long-term sickness, or if they have an advanced, lethal illness and under the impression to possibly die within the following 12 months. Nevertheless of the clinical situation, ACP should be proactive,
Roger S Ulrich argues the importance of healthcare facilities creating a supportive surrounding that aids in the patient's ability to cope with stress. This can be achieved through providing patients with a sense of control over their environment, access to social support, and access to positive distractions. There is room for improvement in healthcare facilities, and these improvements might not cost too much. Research has shown “that supportive design can be credibly related to dollar savings in healthcare costs. (Ulrich 104). Elements of supportive designs have shown to reduce medications for patients and even reduce the patient's time in the hospital. These cost saving details would come close, if not fully cover, the cost of creating a
