By being able to identify my own values and beliefs is an important aspect of my continual personal growth. I use them to guide my actions and behaviours throughout my life as well as helping form attitudes towards different things. Some are rally core to me and they define who I am, whilst others change in importance dependant on my needs at any given time.
My personal and professional values play an important part in my life. I use these values in my everyday life either it is at home or at work. Having spirituality in my life shapes me into the person It makes me think twice about my actions, it also gives me a purpose in life and an understanding of the fundamental basics of the universe and someone higher than me gives me purpose in life. It also gives me instructions and guidance on how to treat other human beings. Passion is a quality I think everyone should want at a value it is not settling for doing something you dread when you are passionate about something you put all your efforts into it and you want to achieve excellences. When you are passionate about something you feel more energized and more motivated when you are doing something you enjoy. What do I consider my core personal values? A value can be defined as trait or attribute inherently desired. In essence, they are intangible qualities that are deemed worthy of possessing. Values can vary from person to person. With this being said, common values include religion, freedom, and high achieving. Throughout the early years Native Americans valued their religion in the literature. When the class was given the first few assignments there were many poems with the Native Americans valuing their religious views. These values help us to do what we believe is ethically correct. My personal values include being loving and caring towards my family and friends, showing respect to everyone, especially those older than me and to show general kindness to all.
“Values guide the behavior of people in society and shape the social norms in a given culture.” Every person you will ever meet has their own share of values. Some will have the same as you, others will have different views. Values are what make up a person’s behavior and actions. A couple of my values are directness, openness, honesty, femininity, future orientation, and family. These values significantly impact how I interact with others and my communication behavior. Without these values I would be lost as an individual and have no value in life.
