Career Narrative My career goal is to be a surgeon. I chose that I wanted to be a surgeon because I feel like that would be a good fit for me. I fit that because I have an interest in the medical field. I like to watch those shows that are on TLC that show people getting surgery and show them getting prepped for surgery. Me and my mom watch those shows all the time, there’s this one show that involves a lot of surgery it’s called “My 600lb Life” that show is very interesting. It’s about these people who are like 600lbs and over and they talk about how they got like that and most of the people on that show can’t even walk. Some surgeons travel offices to take care of their patients. Salary varies on what type of surgeon you are. Radiologist and orthopedic surgeon’s salary is $315,000. There are many benefits of being a surgeon. You get to save lives, it’s always good to save another person’s life. Gives you another reason on taking care of your body, because when you’re performing that surgery I’m sure you wouldn’t want that surgery to be performed on you. There are many education requirements in becoming a surgeon. You have to complete 4 years of college, 4 years of medical school, and 3 years of residency.. You must have a doctoral or professional degree. The education process is very time consuming you must have 4 years of undergraduate school completed and 4 years of medical school completed, 3 years of residency, the maximum time you will be in school 16 years. It doesn’t really say the prices. I can get this education from any university, I hear Wayne State has a very good medical program.
