Charles Dickens opening to a Tale Of Two Cities is the perfect to judge the Celtics 16-17 season. The Celtics had the best of times with Isisiah Thomas having a historic season, and becoming one of the most beloved Celtics of All-Time. Their best of times continued with them over achieving and overtaking the Cavs record wise as the best team in the Eastern Conference. Their worst of times wouldn’t come to fruition until deep into their playoff run with the death of Thomas sister, and his __- injury that would keep him out for most the Eastern Conference Finals. When teams are usually eliminated in a sweep or in five games they’re usually faced with many questions of uncertainty , like any other franchise the Celtics are faced with difficult …show more content…
Adding George with a Nucleus of Thomas, and Horford will give Boston a formidable Big Three to push the incumbnadent Eastern Conference heavyweights- the Cavs to possibly six or seven games. The addition of George would put them in a win now situation, with that they would have to add depth to their roster to make a serious run to the NBA Finals. They’re some cap friendly veteran players that will benefit Boston, free-agents such as Kyle Korver, Shaun Livingston, J.J. Reddick, and if they renounce the rights to Kelly Olynk maybe they can make a run at Paul Millsap. These players aren’t spring chickens, but they’re playoff tested and the veteran presence, mixed in with the youth that Boston currently has might be the perfect match. One person to keep an eye on is Chris Bosh, Bosh is nearing a settlement with the Heat that will enable him to become a free agent. Bosh depending on his health status will give the Celtics the scoring punch off the bench that might enable them to get over the top. If the Celtics were somehow able to sign Bosh I see him playing a role similar to the role Alonzo Mourning played with the Nets in 2003 when he left the Heat due to his kidney …show more content…
Four years later the fruits of this trade is still paying off for Boston. Boston has the number pick in the draft, and they have so many options they can go with. Markelle Fultz Is the consensus number 1 pick on most mock drafts boards. He has the potential to be so great that recent rumors had Boston trading their current superstar Thomas in favor for Fultz. I think Fultz and Thomas can coexist in the same backcourt, Fultz was a point guard in college, however I think he will thrive in the NBA as shooting guard with everyone playing small ball. Fultz doesn’t need Thomas to create a shot for him, he can create his own shot off the dribble, and if Thomas is out the game he can be the teams primary ball handler, and the second option on offense. Fultz fits into the modern NBA because he shoots the three at a decent rate, and he can slash and attack the rim like James Harden. If the Nets continue to struggle just like they did this year Boston might have another top 3 pick coming their way in
While this is a team moving to a new city that recently hired a new head coach, there are several intriguing defensive pieces for Bradley to work with.
The Rangers might be the biggest regression candidate this year. They are a perennial playoff team—they’ve
Robin Lopez (center) just recently signed with the New York Knicks, leaving the team without its top interior defender. Robin Lopez is the most replaceable out of the group, however, he was a great contributor to this team. He rebounded well for them last season and played great defense, but the Blazers can still find a replacement.
As one of the leagues most exciting young team Gordon hopes to make a huge imprint on the Magic and take them back to the NBA playoffs.
The Heat brought back 11 players from last season and is hoping to build off of the second half of last season 30-11 record success.
The Milwaukee Bucks continue to struggle at the start of the regular season. And it seems that they are going to rebuild early on and unload some assets. Rumors are now spreading that they will finally trade Greg Monroe this time and looks that he is on his way to the Boston Celtics.
Going into the season we would not be surprised to see Cleveland against Boston. However, as the playoffs were set to start we thought that there was a very small chance that both the Celtics and the Cavaliers would face off in a rematch of last years Eastern Conference Finals. That thought was strengthened after the Cavaliers struggled into game 7 against the Pacers. Despite this so-called diversity that these two teams have had to experience, here we are with LeBron trying to extend his consecutive NBA Finals appearances to 8, and the Celtics to defy all odds once again and advance to the finals without there star player Irving.
All of that and the thought that the franchise made a lateral move at the draft is a bit premature and I'm partially to blame as well. I hadn't been too high on Jahlil Okafor in the pre-draft process, ranking him fifth on my big board, a decision the Sixers hope looks hilariously awful in just a few short seasons, playing up his defensive limitations and woes from the charity stripe and overlooking his deft footwork around the rim.
With the big offseason acquisition of Al Horford, the Celtics are hoping to change their recent playoff history; the last two seasons have been two one-and-done, getting swept by the Cavaliers and losing to the Hawks in six respectively.
The team made small moves in the offseason, bringing in a couple of cheap young veterans that can help the team in a supporting role. I think there’s one guy that can potentially have the biggest impact for the team this year. I think Andrea Bargnani is going to have a monster year for the Nets.
His performance in Long Island caught the eye of the Mavericks' front office brass as they brought him in and signed him to a 10-day contract. Ferrell has not disappointed and proved he belonged in the NBA on Friday night. Against Portland, Ferrell led the charge on offense for Dallas, knocking down 9-of-11 from three-point range, en route to a career-high 32 points.
The 76ers continues to struggle in the ongoing season. Losing their last 4 games, they are holding a 4-14 record and now at the bottom of the Eastern Conference division. It seems that they are decided to trade Noel to acquire a more capable player in return and could change their fortunes in the ongoing season.
The Magic needed a wing player who could score and defend. They got that with Hezonja. He is a perfect fit and is a great replacement for Tobias Harris.
The Warriors have a big 4, while the Cavaliers have a traditional big 3. Contrary to popular belief, a big 4 is not what the Warriors have had throughout these playoffs. In the postseason, Klay Thompson has averaged a meager 14.4 points per
4) Brandon Jennings - Having a legit starting PG is crucial to being competitive in the NBA but having a legit backup PG can lead to success into the playoffs. (Ask the Warriors). Brandon Jennings has been the heart of this team. Every time he comes off the bench the energy and flow of game changes immediately. Coach Hornacek needs to find better combinations of players to have on the floor with Jennings. He constantly wants to push the pace, which is a great change from the slow it down game that Melo and Rose want to
