While a person is living, he or she cannot please everyone, though that person have not really shown offence or unkindness. At work, not all colleagues enjoy him, and some of them even envy him because of his achievements. At school, if a student cannot simply expect friendliness from everyone, for some peers may dislike him for whatever reason. Nevertheless, those people do not matter. In life, many people will attempt to push one downwards for no good intents, but one should ignore them and fight for what he yearns. That is what Taylor Swift always do. She is charming, talented, and wealthy. She sings beautifully with her heart-touching songs; she dresses up aesthetically on stages as well as in her daily life; she has wonderful and supportive friends such as Ed Sheeran and Gigi Hadid, and she owns expensive estates. Taylor Swift is affluent, yet her early life was not as successful as her current life. Although Taylor has been gifted with her voices, she was not really popular at her school. During middle school, Taylor Swift did not have many female friends, though she was desperate in finding some, and she was excluded by her friends most of the time. Being an outsider is depressing, and having only a few friends is much worse. I empathize Taylor Swift, for I am also unpopular and, sometimes, lonely. Taylor Swift was lonely, yet she viewed it as a motivation to rise instead of surrender. Later on, Swift got a contract with Scott Brochetta’s Big Machine Records, and her first single, “Tim McGraw,” became top 10 hit on Country Songs chart. Her fame rose dramatically with her “Our Songs.” In 2010, Swift won a Grammy Award for Album of The Year. She steps into a different society, where different people with unique and fabulous skills often hang around, and the problems she faced become more difficult. There are no more school gossips which can fade away in a quick moment, but larger rumors circulate around her for years. Everyone definitely knows about Taylor Swift’s notoriety for having twelve boyfriends, and most of them are celebrities. Furthermore, Taylor Swift also has obvious feuds with other famous people such as Katy Perry and, just two years ago, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Taylor Swift is attacked frequently by her enemies, who called Swift a coquette, faker, and even a serpent. Those offences are harsh, yet an impregnable Swift did not fall. She declares them her enemies and throws shade at them through most of her widespread songs. Those such as Blank Space and I Knew You Were Trouble have been always known for her messy relationships. On the other hand, Bad Blood and Look What You Made Me Do avenge her enemies pretty strongly. Taylor Swift has a strong character, causing her to appear interesting in many fans’ eyes. Swift is truly a tough, confident, resilient warrior; she will not step down from haters and heartbroken dates. Those are traits of successful people. They ignore gossips, resurrect from downfalls, and recover quickly from
Anytime someone takes a complicated emotion and simplifies it so I know it like I know the ABC’s, my heart wells with pride and admiration with an intensity that's slightly embarrassing. The album is uniquely defining for me mainly because it fits into so many aspects of life. Although it has a seemingly shallow message about her ex-boyfriend Harry Styles, I have always thought of it as slightly deeper. With lyrics like “This love is alive back from the dead” and “Take my hand and don’t ever drop it, my love” I relate it to daily life. One song describes a time when all you want to do is hide, but the next track describes something beautiful and lovely. Just like one day the storms are raging everywhere I go, but the next God has cleared the skies and created something lovely. The album taught me to not be ashamed of who I am or what I believe, so for that I owe Swift big time. Finally, I recently fell in love with writing songs and at 1989’s core it's just the result of great songwriting. Songwriting does for me what punching someone does for someone
Whether or not she wants to be, Taylor has proven herself to be a very devoted person to what she feels is important or to
Taylor Swift likes to invoke a lot of emotion into her music and includes several things she has experienced in her life. One major recurring theme in her songs is love.
Her lyrics are inspiring and optimistic. In her songs "Shake It Off" and "Mean" she becomes a counselor for the hated. Both songs tell people that others will belittle them because they are mean and that is what haters do (Mesfin 1). Swift shows people that they are perfect in the manner they are because her songs are also about her being hated. This causes people to accept who they are because they can relate to her.
She is a 10 time Grammy award winner, and among the five artists to ever win a Grammy for album of the year she is the only female to ever win more than once. Her hit song “You Belong with Me” resonated with millions of young girls many of which connected with the lines “If you could see/ That I’m the one /Who understands you/ Been here all along/ So why can’t you see/ You belong with me”. She turns ordinary teenage girl experiences into fresh country and pop songs. She grew up fascinated by music which led to her success as a Country/Pop artist. She constantly strives to make sure that her fame does not get in the way of her truly being herself. Taylor does not read into any of the articles about her in magazines to avoid getting caught up in all the gossip that publicity spreads about her. Taylor has made a huge impact on music industry, from selling out Madison Square Garden, to record breaking songs and albums. Award winning singer and song writer Taylor Swift, is still forming her legacy as she continues to make history in the music industry, while garnering a large fan base worldwide.
In this new album "Everybody here was someone else before,” is the first track song in Swift's album which talks about how everyone is someone fake for the moment or they turn into something they were not before. This switch in genres has showed a more mature side of Taylor swift and has made her album specially different
Taylor Swift, a pop icon and polarizing figure, is often known for her empowering music, feminist attitude, and meaningful lyrics. Many of her fans praise the feminist messages some of her songs deliver, however others say she comes from a position of privilege and only advocates for white women. Still, a common perception of Swift is that she has evolved from an innocent country singer into a more controversial and sometimes provocative pop singer. What is ignored though, is that despite this perception, themes depicted in “old” Taylor’s music still displayed highly problematic concepts about gender, just in less obvious ways. Particularly in her music video for “You Belong With Me,” the audience if presented with a fulfilling love story involving a nerdy girl getting the popular. On its surface, this concept may seem normal, but the narrative of this video unintentionally conveys significant gender issues in today’s society. Thus, through her 2008 music video for “You Belong With Me,” Taylor Swift ironically presents herself as the ideal nerdy girl next door who gets the guy when she suddenly turns beautiful while demonizing a cheerleader, revealing problematic notions of how women are supposed to look and behave in society, as well as reinforcing negative female stereotypes.
Recently, 24- year old country singer/popstar Taylor Swift released a music video “Shake it Off” which was I sort of introduction to her newest album 1989. The video received some backlash for it was seen by many as offensive, and stereotypical to African American Culture. In the video Swift dresses in what some may consider Hip Hop attire, attempts to “twerk” and even has a section where she partially sings as well as raps. She even uses talks about
Taylor Swift really knows how to have hidden messages and secrets throughout her lyrics and music videos. Taylor Swift also likes to trash talk other celebrities including Kim Kardashian and Katy Perry. Which gives a viewer a good chance to critic her lyrics and videos.
Thesis statement: Taylor Swift is one of the most successful female artists in the world who portrays her personal experiences through her music.
Have you ever had those certain catchy songs that you just can't get out of your head? For me Taylor Swift is always at the top of my playlist. Taylor Swift was born on December 13, 1989 and has a family background of singing in her family her grandmother was an opera singer. Ever since Taylor started recording her albums she has always wrote and performed all of her songs. She started performing at a very young age. At the age of 11 Taylor Swift performed the national anthem at a Philadelphia 76ers NBA game. (??) The contributions to Music demonstrated by the career of Taylor Swift to prove beyond a doubt the Country Music Hall of Fame should induct this singer Taylors worthiness of this award is shown in her awards, charitable contributions and impact.
Taylor Alison Swift was born on December 13, 1989, making her 26 today, she grew up in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, she had an interest in musical theater at the age of nine and took vocal and acting lessons in New York. At 14 Taylor moved to Nashville, Tennessee attempting to pursue her music career. Shortly after the move, being the youngest person ever, she got signed by Sony/ATV music publishing house. Taylor’s songs that she writes are based on her personal life experiences and are mostly pop and country, she also plays many instruments including the piano, guitar, and banjo. Swift’s second album, Fearless was her Album of the Year winner in 2009 and claiming that Grammy made her the youngest Album of the year winner ever. In 2014 with Taylor’s second album, 1989 lead her to be the first ever to have 3 albums that sold 1 million copies within 1 week in the U.S.A. 1989 also lead her to claim the Album of the year award for the second time in her career making her the first women and fifth overall to win the Album of the Year Grammy twice.
Most notably among these artists is Taylor Swift. Over the 8 years of her professional career, Swift has seen amazing success both in country and pop. Her upcoming release “1989” is her first official transition to the pop genre, so much so that she “won’t be pushing the new album to country radio at all” (Whitaker 1). Over the course of Swift’s last album or two, there has been a definite adjustment and maturing of her sound, gearing herself more toward pop. In an interview with USA Today about Taylor’s transition, the associate editor at Billboard, Jason Lipshutz, described her last album, “Red”, as being “based in country music, but [having] a lot of bubblegum pop in it” (Ryan, Mansfield 2).
In musical superstar Taylor Swift’s music video for her song “Blank Space,” she is portraying herself as the high maintenance and dramatic girlfriend that the media believes she is. The speaker of this text is the media’s perception of Taylor Swift and her message is about the disconnect between who Swift really is and who the media sees her as. I believe Swift has two purposes for this music video. One is for her character in the music video to warn her audience about the type of love that boys want, and the other for real life Taylor herself to poke holes into the media’s concept of her love life. The video is filled with satire and paradoxes to convince us that our idea of Taylor Swift is not an accurate opinion of her.
For my Taylor Swift assignment, I took very detailed notes on the music video to try and help me get a good idea of exactly what was going on. I then decided to have my main focus on the dark spots on Taylor Swifts career. I decided to focus on these because most of the music video focused in on her past and how it has changed her to be a new person. In the video, there was also reference to taboos which I explained in my writing. I was very confident on this paper and decided not to revise for that reason.
