Education plays a vital role in shaping tomorrow’s leaders. Education is the process of giving or receiving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university. There are many reasons why one would need an education. For example, having an education can help someone obtain an exceptional job, increase their knowledge, and even increase their earnings potential. Obtaining an education is not only learning math, science, or history, but it also teaches people about the world around them. Having knowledge about the world can teach people about other cultures and different types of lifestyles. People can also learn about different and higher paying jobs. Another way to gain knowledge is through technology. Technology plays a significant role in education. The role of technology in education is to enhance learning.

Hernando County has a technology initiative; however, within the each classroom it can be hard to obtain, due to lack of technology. Within Challenger K8 most classrooms have about 2 working computers in the elementary grade levels. In middle school there are classrooms with no computers. We have 5 computer labs that can be scheduled for daily use and then scheduled for testing. Through our community partners the school has received 4 smart boards, and an iMac Lab. Our media person just received a grant for a class set of ipads. Some teacher have bought there own for students to utilize within the class. Hernando County also provided a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy for schools to use at their discretion. The middle school uses BYOD on a daily bases for informal formative assessments, games, and engagement. Technology is everywhere, attached to us in almost every part of our daily lives. Places like café shops, home and as well at schools have technology. Nowadays, schools have technology devices like laptops or tablets that they use as a learning tool for students. Teachers and students use these devices in class for every subject. Text books have been replaced by the laptops or tablets, which are lend to each students in school and can take home. The devices have the apps for each of their subjects and students can read their text book in an e-book format. Additionally, students can do their homework on it, send messages to classmates or teacher, or play educational games that involves their current subjects. Although, these are convenient reasons to use devices in and after school, I must say I don’t agree. Technology devices should not be the primary way for students to learn in school. It has taken away the traditional passive learning pattern, some teacher are not helping or not teaching at all, and students are exposed to danger while walking towards school or home.

In many ways, bringing our devices would save a lot of money not just for the school but for the students. The school wouldn't have to buy as much printer paper or paper in general. Not to mention that they would'nt have to buy the textbooks, workbooks, and etc. Not having the immense textbooks would save a ton of money and all of the curriculum would be online. Although the school has i Pads for the students we don't tend to use them because we always use our books. However, if we brought our own devices, the school would be in a better financial stand point. This way of doing school with technology is the most economical way for everyone.

In order to communicate an important subject to readers, the structure of the paper must be well done so that it can be well used when defending a certain point of view. In this case, Jacobs’ work would be a strong resource to use to support the argument that teachers should use innovative devices. Technology has taken us to unimaginable highs and it all starts in the classroom. Millennials are considers the dumbest generation because of our “dependency” on technology, but previous generations misunderstand our use of technology when we are just being productive with getting information. Also generations prior to ours never experienced this amount of technology in their time at school so to them they feel as if we are just being lazy to open up a book like they had too. The most successful way of providing students with this knowledge would be a 1:1 technology program, as students are fully immersed in learning with technology. The following report will discuss articles and research regarding technology integration to allow McAuley Public School to make an informed decision whether to implement a ‘Bring Your Own Device’ (BYOD) approach. This report will give an understanding of the implications of BYOD for teaching and learning, and some benefits and drawbacks of implementing this program. From this, a recommendation will be made suggesting if a BYOD approach should or should not be implemented into this public school.

For example, certain schools around the globe are moving on to implementing technology in classrooms because it provides many benefits and statistical research that states how students are improving their academic readiness because of the instant access to information, a greater engagement and interactive process in learning, and the personalization that instructors can do towards the educational experience that students receive. The benefits of technology in class can be rather debatable, for there are people who think it's a distraction, but it certainly seems to be beneficial according to the increase of passing percentages in schools.

In the last several years, college, administrators, faculty, and staff have observed the growing number of adult students enrolling in classes. Since these nontraditional students have recently come back, they are struggling more with technology-dominant classrooms compared to their traditional counterparts. These institutions have initiated methods to work with this problem, such as implementing beginner computer courses and encouraging them to be proactive in practicing their new found skills. Contemporary education research has observed numerous obstacles that adult student encounter returning to school. There is a learning gap that educators must close between traditional and adult students. While adult students bring valuable life experience and practical skills, they lack a background in modern programs and navigating access to technology tools. Working together hand-in-hand adult students and instructions through training in technology and time management, adult students will have a better outlook on achieving their goals and dreams.
