Terri Winston is an amazing female pioneer. She has helped open door for many women in the audio industry. Terri Winston’s love of music and recording arts spans more than 25 years as a songwriter, composer, recording engineer and producer. [1] She went to college at Purdue University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering [1]. While in college, Terri Winston worked two jobs:; as an electrical engineer in the co-op program at Purdue University and playing in bands. She was signed as a recording artist, engineer and producer at Polygramer and BMG [1]. In 2003 Terri Winston, while she was a tenured professor and director for the Sound Recording Arts Program at the City College of San Francisco, founded the Women’s Audio Mission (WAM). [1] She founded the organization in direcrt response to the economic and social inequity that women face in music production and the recording arts. Her duties at WAM includes managing the long-term strategic plan of WAM as well as, oversee all of the fundraising, operations, programming, recording sessions and staff; she makes sure the organization grows and stays on mission. One of the biggest influences for her was working with the producer/ musician Lenny Kaye of the Patti Smith Group. She has also worked as a recording artist and producer for Main Man whose roster included: David Boure, John Mellen Camp, Lou Reed and Iggy Pop [1]. She had also produced and engineered Kronos Quartet and the SHE’s [2]. She has composed music for KRON-TV’s “First Cut” series, Banana Republic and various films that have shown on BRAVO’s Independent Film Channel, French Television Cine Cinemas and other major festivals around the world
