Most of the countries around the world call the terrorism a common enemy, but there is not a common definition of terrorism. There is not any significant unified goal and objective among the states against them, but they have their collective and shared goals. They are against the peace, stability, and development and they want to kill, destroy and spread fear. They misuse and misinterprets any faith in their favor and they try to mix terrorism with the religious ideology. And they support each other globally for these shared goals, but we should ask ourselves, what do we do to defend ourselves and defeat terrorism?
Climate change, the proliferation of weapon of mass destruction (WMD) and terrorism is widely debated as a threat around the world. These three issues might be the top three issues in front of us in the 21st century. However, the WMD proliferation and climate change are considered as major issues since the 20th century, but still there are some states, who want to produce nuclear weapons and pollute the environment and they struggle globally to justify their interest against the interest of the world community and humanity. There is no doubt that some states sponsor terrorists, but I have not heard of any government, who publicly backs or defend terrorists. While every state agrees on the threat of global terrorism, yet we do not have a common definition for them, which should be widely accepted or adopted by every country in the world.

Terrorism is a massive problem--everybody realizes that. Regardless of origin, culture, country, or political standpoint, every sane person understands that terrorism is something that is still relatively prevalent in the world, and something needs to be done about it. The problem, however, is that there is no easy solution. The United States tends to take overbearing control and responsibility for all terrorist threats, groups, and attacks, but this is simply not reasonable. Although we cannot expect every country to take initiative against terrorist threats like ISIS, sustained international coordination is necessary to effectively confront transnational terrorist groups (Shirkey). This way, the US can begin taking care of themselves and their own country, as they still have many issues that have yet to be solved. While working together is important, though, it is not the key to solving the problem. What we must do in addition is investigate and address the root causes of terrorism, and analyse them in detail in order to best combat terrorist groups at their roots.
Terrorism is a frightening reality that all people in today’s world must face. While some areas of the world are facing terrorism more than others nearly are regions and all people are facing the violence and devastating effects of terrorism in one form or another.
Dailymail.co.uk says that over 32,000 people died in 2014 alone (Dailymail 1). Terrorism can be interpreted many different ways. From the terrorist’s standpoint, terrorism is a helpful tool used to promote their way of life and to keep their people in line. From a pacifist’s point of view, terrorism is a dangerous thing, but should be left alone unless it is targeted toward them. From an activist’s point of view, terrorism is too dangerous to be left alone and must stop before it spreads. No matter what point of view it is being seen at, terrorism is dangerous and has ended the lives of too many citizens and soldiers.
In order to determine whether an action is a terrorist act or not, terrorism must first be defined. Terrorism is the use or threatening the use of violence as a weapon to influence a person or a group of people to change policies or influence decisions according to the terrorist’s desires. The terrorist can be a single person acting on personal wishes or a group of people with an ultimate goal. The goals of a terrorist are normally political, ideological, or religious in nature.
Terrorism is defined as the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion. It’s a problem that the United States and other countries have dealt with since before 9/11 but more significantly afterwards. On September 11, 2001, there was a series of four attacks by the Islamic terrorist group known as al-Qaeda. Two planes crashed into the North and South towers of the World Trade Center in New York City and a third crashed into the Pentagon, which houses the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense in Virginia. There was a fourth plane that was on track to Washington, D.C. but crashed into field in Pennsylvania. Several lives were lost, a total of 2,977 according to a CNN report. However 9/11 was only the beginning of terrorist attacks. Although 9/11 happened in the United Sates, terrorist attacks are felt worldwide and happen in countries other than the U.S. Recently, there have been terrorist attacks in Paris and Brussels. In 2015-16 alone there have been 10 known terrorist attacks in places such as Syria, Nigeria and Iraq, which doesn 't include the minuscule ones that the media doesn 't cover. I will describe the beginnings of terrorism. Second, I will show the influence of religion on terrorism, particularly Islam. Lastly, describe the effects of terrorism on different parts of the world and its causes.
Global terrorism has been increasing problem since the end of the Cold War. With conditions favorable to terrorist organizations like Al-Qaeda and ISIS, global terrorism started to take rise when the Russians withdrew from Afghanistan. Due to the war on terror, there have been many tragic events like 9/11. As the world keeps advancing to newer and more advanced technology, so will ISIS. Therefore, we will need to arm ourselves with the knowledge of why terrorism is important to us as a society and how much damage terrorism is actually doing to us by looking at past history, current events, and the future of terrorism. To know more about terrorism, we first need look into past events and realize how much damage terrorism has already done to
Why does the way we define terrorism matter? It matters because we can make wrong judgements of a group or individual and not have a clear vision of what is in store in the future. In the article “The Struggle to Define Terrorism” it says that chaos is that describes the state of things concerning definitions (Tuman 2). Academics, government, experts all have different definitions of what terrorism is. Even a terrorist has a different definition of what the meaning of “terrorism” is.
This definition outlines that the actions within terrorism is contradicting to the law. The key component of definition of terror is that the people who are being targeted are civilians. The attacks of the 11th of September took place on the America soil, and soon after the expression and the definition of ‘The war on terror’ was set by President Bush. The Bush-Cheney administration defined terrorism as following:
Terrorism, in a recent couple of years, has become an international problem and the international community has used a lot of resources in an effort to solve it and reduce its effect on people. The United Nations has carried out many conventions and resolutions have been adopted in the international arena. In the regional levels too, the European Union has had plenty of measures to handle this problem. Countries especially that have suffered extensive attacks such as the United States and England have strict measures to eliminate this trouble. Despite international, regional and individual countries efforts, terrorism still remains a huge problem which must be tackled. In this essay, I tackle a national and endemic terror group. I look at the
One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. Some will say this is a true statement another would say this is an ignorant statement. It is simply up to interpretation. But going deeper into the statement we must always remember that “words mean things.” So what does the word terrorist mean? Or better yet, what is the meaing of terrorism. If we can define terrorism then untimately we will define what is a terrorist.
In recent decades, society has been victim to one of the worst scourges ever known: terrorism, which is an expressive act of violence seen throughout history (conquests, wars) with varied forms of expression and cruelty. If a general definition of terrorism could be given it would be, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1269, a terrorist act is any act intended to cause death or serious bodily harm to civilians or other person not directly involved in armed conflict, when the purpose of such act, by nature or context, is to intimidate a population or compel a government or international organization to do or abstain from any act.
Countries around the world also have different definitions of terrorism. The definitions of terrorism contain key ideas
3.Terrorism is the threat of violence used to achieve a political or religious goal, it could be carried out by individuals or groups (“Briggle” 1)
Have you ever had a fear for your family, your town, your country, or your world. How about the fear to have everything taken from you, destroyed, and not caring if it has hurt you or not? What about your fear and pain is, and can be someone else’s happiness? The fear of you being terrorized? That is terrorism. Someone else bringing fear and terrorizing you. That is a terrorist’s goal. Terrorism is common and is very difficult to stop. The government promises protection for the people, and their home, but they can not give that protection if they can not stop terrorism. Terrorism needs to stop to protect the live of the people, and their country.
Terrorism, which has been around for as long as people can remember, has been on the rise for the past ten years. Terrorists usually use murdering, kidnapping, hi-jacking and bombings to achieve their political purpose. For instance, according to Wikipedia.com (2006), in 1985 816 deaths, then in 2003, more than 1,000 people died by terorist acts around the world. In recent years, terrorism seems to be at a new height and attacks are much more violent than in the past. Unfortunately, in spite of many anti-terror campaigns, projects and organizations are being created for prevention (to prevent) terrorism, the number of terrorists only is increasing. These days terrorism is all over the world.
