Rubesh Phaiju Professor Sherry Sharifian GOVT 2306-71003 28 November 2017 Committees Texas House of Representative consists of many committees which are working for the development of society and the people. Some of the committees which I would consider, if elected are Opioids & Substance Abuse Select Committee, Business & Industry Committee and Economic & Small Business Development Committee.
The first committee I would like to serve upon winning is Opioids & Substance Abuse, Select Committee. This house committee is concerned with rehabilitation services; how to reduce opioid use in Texas; how to fund substance abuse regulation programs and agencies; community education on substance abuse; and provision of medical services to

It is mainly procedural as well as substantive. It is justified because I have vast knowledge in business and industry field. This will give me a cutting-edge advantage in presenting substantive agendas to the committee. I would also focus to confirm that the entire business and industry sector achieves the set goals and decisions. The implementation of government regulations also serves best for various industries, and people should respect the fact that business operations need to follow the rules and regulations that will make them successful.
1 Lastly, I would like to serve Economic & Small Business Development Committee. This house committee concerns itself with development and support of the small-scale businesses; unemployment compensation and wages and collective bargaining (Texas House of Representatives). This committee deals with both substantive and procedural laws. As a member of the Economic & Small Business Development Committee, I will focus on presenting pertinent concerns of the small-scale traders, who face a lot of challenges in growing their businesses. This will benefit my district, bearing in mind that it has the highest number of Small and Medium Size Enterprises in the State. I have a deep passion for entrepreneurship, which makes me the ideal member of this committee as I have knowledge on the challenges facing small scale entrepreneurs.
Apart from being a member in these committees, I look forward to be a youth ambassador for substance and
Constitutions are a necessary tool in keeping a Nation running in a smooth manner. One is also necessary in keeping the components, which are states, running in an ordered way. The constitution of Texas has a long historical trail from 1827 to 1876 and there are many events that occurred during this time period. The current Texas constitution has many strengths and weaknesses and there have been revisions made to this document. This document limits the way government can be involved in certain problems that arise in Texas. The Texas constitution is a document with positives and negatives but it is definitely a necessity.
The Texas Legislature members cannot hold another official government office. In addition, the members must meet specific criteria such as voter status, citizenship, and district residence. Although all the large criteria required in order to become a member, millions of Texas residents occupy these legal qualifications. Biographical data, however, has advised that numerous individuals recent to Texas Legislatures have informal qualifications which are restricting opportunities for election.
From March 2, 1836 to February 19, 1846, Texas as its own independent country in North America. Those who resided in this independent country were referred to as Texians. Texas declared its independence from Mexico in 1836 during the Texas revolution which ended on April 21 of that same exact year. However, Mexico did not want to give the Republic of Texas its independence which resulted in conflicts between that of Texas and Mexico that went on into the 1840s. As a result, The United States of America recognized the Republic of Texas as an independent country in 1837 but failed to append their land. Later receiving its independence, Texas elected a Congress of fourteen senators and twenty-nine representatives in the month of September and year of 1836. However, within the Republic, citizenship was not a privileged for everybody living in Texas. Not everybody had legal rights to reside within the limits of the Republic without Congress permission. The Constitution of the Republic of Texas created differences for each and every ethnicity for each individual person. Meaning, whoever was there on the day the Republic of Texas won their independence had to be classified as a citizen of the Republic including Africans, those with African descent, and Native Americans. For Caucasian immigrants to become citizens they would have to had lived in the Republic for six months or less and take an oath. Those who were brought to Texas as a slave had to stay a
The government of the state of Texas is a difficult and complicated institution that is composed of many different levels. The question comes in to everyone's mind at one time or another whether or not to trust the government. It could be that people believe that the officials will take advantage of their power, or simply people don't like the idea of being controlled by someone who is not a family member or friend. To avoid this centralized power, the government is divided into stages and this is a reasonable ground for trusting the government. Government runs this state and it does deserve to be trusted.
Texas has a reputation throughout history of differing views from the federal government in laws and politics pertaining to social, fiscal, and educational issues. On the whole, Texas operates as a largely conservative state. Because of this, policy-making is often right wing. With the institution of a Democratic, liberal president, the State’s dissent from the Federal government has only increased over certain issues. One hot topic of the 2012 Presidential election was immigration. With the major increase in immigration, it is no surprise that the issue was so emphasized. Between 2000 and 2011 there was a 30 percent
Neeru lama Govt 2306 Sherry sharifian 10/27/2017 The most important things that needs to run the office in Texas is fund. Without fund it is impossible to mobilize other resources. Fund for office is fundamental. 1 According to Chris Essig, “The amount a candidate spends per vote is based on three variables: how much a candidate fundraises, how much a candidate spends and, most importantly, how many votes a candidate receives” which means fund is the primary necessity that any office needs. There are many ways to raise the fund which helps to run office. Various association can help the political party or office at the time of the election. Office can not voluntary raise the money from any place or office but if someone is willing to
To get elected as the Texas House of Representative required efforts and hard work. Side by side many responsibilities will be there after got elected. It is not easy to get vote without publicity and contribution to the district. A person who is already renowned and a person who did some contribution to the district can be trusted easily. Moreover, the chances of winning will be more for those people who is willing to do better to their district. Public vote for those people who will make their life style easy by providing them good service and facilities. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the wining person to do the betterment of the district. He/ She should be responsible to complete the task which they raise while running for election. I will run against Matt Rinaldi, a republican who is running district 115. Luckily, if I got chance to win the election, I would contribute my time and effort for the betterment of the district. I will look forward
As I am running for a Texas House of Representative, the agendas that I have set was to consider social issues such as terrorism, health or mental sufferings and environmental degradation. My reach of contribution to the society and campaign endorsement through a celebrity figure adds up to a positive result. If my campaign becomes successful and I get elected, then the three committees that I would serve would be Criminal Jurisprudence, Human Services, and Environmental Regulation.
My districts demographics show that there need to be improvements especially on Education sector, Health and Health insurance, and our economy, per capita. These committees will help increase the quality and opportunity of Higher education, a better, affordable Health care and insurance, and maintain our economic stability. Legislating laws in favor of what is right for the community will help grow and maintain a better living for our residents. This will allow the huge population of young adults to have the chance to complete their education, therefore we produce highly educated work force, innovators, and leaders to help continue grow our state and nation. The population living under the poverty line, or paid minimum wage, that can not afford to get a proper health care service, will now get the chance to get a better service, and in the mean-time the Finance, and Business and Commerce Committee will allow those people to get a chance to have a better work opportunity to lead their life better. The sum of all the committees and legislations only will guarantee that I accomplished what I stood up for our community, to our
On the one hand, business can be perceived as a difficult subject, taught and learned in specially designed educational institutions, and acquired through years of professional involvement. From this standpoint then, the business knowledge should now be perceived as an absolute necessity or its absence should not be perceived as a weakness for a candidate. The future position of the Congress member may not even be related to business operations, and the candidate might be a highly skilled and capable individual, with the ability to excel in their specific domain, different from business.
I am currently involved in Student Support Services, Freddy T. Davy Honors College, and Political Science club. Each one of these organization has nurtured and help me grow into the intelligent young woman I am today. My involvement in these organizations make me an ideal candidate because I can establish a beneficial relationship between one of these organizations and Hampton University Student Government Association. For example, there may be a scenario where we need to fund raise for an event or project we can link both organizations to raise more awareness and funds. Many people do not know that the three organizations that I am currently a part of do not choose you. You have to choose them. I have chosen to accept a challenge to
Afifah Mazhar GOVT-2306-71001 Professor Sharifian 29 October 2017 Running for Rep In my previous essay I discussed that I would be running for district 115 (R-Irving), for a seat in the Texas House of Representatives during the 2019 election. I talked about the what, the why, and the when about my running. (The what being what my platform is, why being why I am running, and when being when I plan on running.) In this essay I will address the how, I will explain my plans and the process I will take to get elected.
I am extremely interested in being on the DECA 2017 executive committee because I would love to continue competing in DECA as well as add on to my former executive position knowledge from high school. Being on the committee would provide me with opportunities to meet people that share the same interests with me, grow the Queen’s DECA community by influencing students to join, and share my opinions on how to make the organization better than it already is. As large as the organization may seem, DECA is honestly a family and it is not one I want to be left out of. Those are the reasons for why I am interested in being on the DECA executive committee.
To be on a committee you should be passionate and excited about what you are going to influence over the next year. I tried being in committee last year even though I was not passionate about the committees. I did enjoy helping people while I was on the poverty committee but it wasn’t my passion. This year I want to experience helping different groups because I feel like I would be able to find out what my passion really is. I want to know this because it’s something I feel I must know about myself and that will also help me choose what I want to do as a career.
I choose to run for the Texas State House District 105 representative, which consists of Irving, Grand Prairie, and some part of Dallas. The total population of my district 105 is 175728. Most of the people residing in my district is Hispanic with 44.9% followed by white with
