Because Muff has been drinking heavily and is not very sure what has happened, Injun Joe convinces Muff that he killed the doctor" (www.tpac.org/education/hot/guidebooks/GBTomSawyer). He frames old Muff Potter, and he is smart enough to make the townspeople believe that his story is true. His reputation is such than none of the townspeople will confront him with his evil. All the people of St. Petersburg know that he is evil; each is too frightened to confront him because they, like Tom and Huck, know that he will get revenge in a violent manner. Injun Joe is the same at the end as he is in the beginning; he does not vary through the course of the events in which he is involved. He plans to harm the Widow Douglas in retaliation for something her late husband did years earlier. Twains states in the story "He had me horsewhipped! horsewhipped in front of the jail, like a nigger! with all the town looking on! Horse whipped! do you understand? He took advantage of me and died. But I'll take it out on her" (Twain, 236). Injun Joe is vital to the novel's main adventure. Huckleberry Finn is Tom's partner in crime. Together, they go on adventures that ultimately guide them into dangerous situations. They first find themselves in danger when they go to the cemetery one night. They are witnesses to a grave robbery being done by
The main external conflict throughout the book is Injun Joe misdeeds. To test superstition, Tom and Huck meet in a graveyard to perform a ritual to remove warts. While waiting for the spell to work, three men appear; the men are Dr. Robinson, Injun Joe, and Muff Potter. The men argue and Injun Joe kills Dr. Robinson. He frames Muff Potter, and flees the scene. After Tom testifies against Injun Joe during Muff Potter trial, he jumps out the window of the courtroom. Injun Joe returns to the plot during Tom and Huck’s search for treasure. He finds the treasure and takes off. Huck, looking for any chance to reclaim the gold, hears Injun Joe’s plan to attack the widow, Ms. Douglas, but Huck prevents Injun Joe from succeeding. Subsequently, Injun Joe disappears. Tom, lost in the cave with Becky, discovers Injun Joe hiding out in McDougal’s Cave. The conflict resolves when Tom and Becky

The novel is set in the 1930's in St. Petersburg, a fictitious place supposedly reminiscent of the town of Hannibal, Missouri the place where Mark Twain grew up. It follows the events in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, also of the same author.
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain is about a boy who runs away from his abusive and racist father, Pap and befriends Jim, a runaway slave. We see everything through the perspective of Huckleberry Finn, an outlier in society and a child. As their friendship develops, Huck becomes more like his own person, breaking away from the rules society ingrained in him. He must decide whether is conscience or morality is right. The people Huck meets on his journey are representations of the different types of people in society. The audience gets to see how everyone and everything contributes to how society functions.

Tom Sawyer - Huck’s friend, and the protagonist of Tom Sawyer, the novel to which Huckleberry Finn is ostensibly the sequel. In Huckleberry Finn, Tom serves as a foil to Huck: imaginative, dominating, and given to wild plans taken from the plots of adventure novels, Tom is everything that Huck is not. Tom’s stubborn reliance on the “authorities” of romance novels leads him to acts of incredible stupidity and startling cruelty. His rigid adherence to society’s conventions aligns Tom with the “sivilizing” forces that Huck learns to see through and gradually abandons.
“The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” is a book written by Mark Twain, which is a sequel to “Tom Sawyer”. Most readers will find themselves laughing at different scenes from the book. It is autobiographic of a young boy in adventures along the Mississippi River. Tom Sawyer appears in this book again, but the scenes and characters are different. Everything is seen through Huck’s eyes.
The main character is Huckleberry Finn, also called Huck. Huck is the thirteen-year-old son of the local drunk of St. Petersburg, Missouri, a town on the Mississippi River. He is frequently forced to survive on his own wits and always a bit of an outcast. Huck is thoughtful, intelligent (though formally uneducated), and willing to come to his own conclusions about important matters, even if these conclusions contradict society’s norms (Sparknotes Editors, 2002).
Tom Sawyer is a boy who lives with his Aunt Polly, and two cousins, Sid, and Mary. His life consists of a lot of choices. Some good, and some bad. Once, he and Huckleberry Finn, Tom Sawyer's best friend, and their good friend Joe Harper, decided that they were going to run away and become pirates. They ran away and were gone for three days and nights. Then, when they were caught in a hurricane, they found out that being pirates wasn't all fun and games, as they thought it would be. Finally, they decided that it would be a good time to go home, but when they got back home, they found out that the towns people were holding a funeral service for the three missing boys. That was one of Tom's really bad decisions, mainly because he scared his aunt
The beginning of the novel shows the lack of moral fiber that Huckleberry Finn has obtained over the course of his life. Even though it is evident that Huck has more of a conscience than Tom Sawyer, he still shows his lack of a strong conscience by offering Miss Watson to Tom’s gang just so that he is allowed to play with them (C. Twain 135). After the return of Pap Finn, Huck’s drunken, abusive father, Pap kidnaps
Twain’s familiarity with the setting lends to the authentic and realistic feel for which the book is known. The main plot of the novel takes place on the Mississippi River, and as Huck travels down the river he meets different characters who influence him in distinct ways. These various influencers included those headed up by the Miss Watson and the Widow Douglas, Pap, the Duke and Dauphin, Tom’s Aunt Sally, and Jim. In some of these households, Huck is cared for.
He decides to save her and quickly runs to a neighbor, Mr. Welshman, for help after changing his mind. “Please don’t- I’d be killed, sure-but the widow’s been good friends to me sometimes, and I want to tell- I will tell if you’ll promise you won’t ever say it was me.”(Page 174). Huck runs the risk of Injun Joe figuring out he told about his plans or Mr. Welshman being on Injun Joe’s side. Nevertheless, the widow is always kind to him and even spares him food, so he knows he has to help her.
The protagonist Huck undergoes complete moral transformation due to his experiences throughout his course of maturity. Huck first enters the novel as an adolescent outcast lacking religious and academic education. Although his caretakers, Widow Douglas and Miss Watson, try to reform Huck’s independent habits, he was tired of being told how to act. Huckleberry Finn only looks up to Tom Sawyer, a typical middle class adolescent indoctrinated with white social principles. When Tom Sawyer decides to create a group of robbers, Huck is excited to join on Tom’s adventures. However, one of the requirements of a participant is to agree with the murder of a family member if the rules of the gang are broken. Lacking a true family
