The Age of Francisco
Francisco Franco was a ruthless dictator of Spain from 1939 to 1975. He started as a talented military general, who rose up to power and lead the Nationalist rebels to victory in the Spanish Civil War. During his time as dictator, he ruled with confidence and control,and sided with the Axis Powers during World War Two, but then quickly gained a good reputation with the United Nations after the war was over. As one of the many dictators of the World War Two era, Franco is an important figure in history.
Biography
Francisco Franco was born in El Ferrol, Spain on December 4,1892 into a military family. Following in his father’s footsteps, Franco joined the military and graduated from Toledo Military Academy. Franco’s main goal was to restore Spain to its former glory. Just five months after the Spanish civil war ended, World War Two started. Spain remained neutral in the war because of their intense debt, however they sided with the Axis Powers. Francisco Franco did meet with Adolf Hitler in the middle of the war saying Spain would join the war on the side of the Axis powers if Germany agreed to some of Franco’s terms. Hitler denied this request and Spain stayed out of the war. Franco tried to become completely neutral in the war in 1943 but it was too late, Spain was invested too deeply with the Axis Powers and gained enemies. The west already viewed Franco as a fascist and did not support him. Franco tried to change this by changing the name of “ The State Party” to the “State Movement to appear as though he was not fascist. With this change and his anti communist views, Spain gained political popularity with the United States and was asked to join the United Nations in
MacArthur was born on an Army base in Little Rock, Arkansas, on January 26, 1880, into a family with military history. When he was born his Dad was a captain , and had been decorated for his service in the Union Army during the Civil War. His Mom's brothers fought for the south during the civil war. The base where he was born was just the first of several military post which he lived as a kid. In 1893 his family moved to San Antonio, Texas, and he attended the West Texas Military Academy. After high school, he enrolled in the military academy at West Point, where he excelled, and in 1903 he graduated with honors. After graduation, MacArthur was commissioned as a junior officer in the Army Corps of Engineers.

Several things brought the Roosevelt administration down to earth, these were first parts of the New Deal was unconstitutional and second he wanted to appoint more democrat supreme court justices to get them to rule in his favor. Before he got this far because, he was able to appoint 5 new democrat justices to replace the retired ones. After this there was a market crash due to high taxations, minimum wage law and protection of the union workers law. Because of the New Deal business owners did not have a favorable environment. This caused the Roosevelt recession.
