Life is a beautiful thing. It can be created out of almost nothing and it has been spurring on this Earth for billions of years. We as humans have learned so much about ourselves and other organisms, yet the method of creating it has escaped us for as long as we can remember. Perhaps our feeble minds are not imaginative enough to unlock the secrets of the universe. Let us be concerned with other things while we slowly advance in time. Things such as making the most out of ourselves and the life we were given, to lead a good life. But what is a good life? Some say the “American Dream” is the key to a good life. An ideology that is specific to the United States, but can be applied anywhere, it deals with the pursuit of happiness and being successful. …show more content…
We as humans have the ability to form intense emotional bonds with not only other humans, but other animals. This is why we have the instinct to protect what we love, this is why we can become so close with our family, our significant other, or our dog. Tying this together with doing things that you love may be a basic formula for happiness. Being happy is almost certainly key to a great life. If you are not happy with yourself, there is no way you can be happy with your life. We remedy this by finding things that make us happy, hence the pursuit of happiness. This, unlike the others is actually an easily proven method to enjoy life. You do not need heaps of money or the fame in the spotlight to finally say that it was all good. So that is settled then, happiness is all you need right? Unfortunately this is still not the case for many people. Many times greed can be the sole provider for some individuals. The seven deadly sins actually do a decent job of covering how bad in life can outweigh the good. It would be ignorant to assume they are forever out of reach of happiness as they can fully experience it, within their own terms if need be. There is a bit of them within all of
Happiness is thought to be something that is paired with money, and that is what is misleading people everyday around the nation. Spending every day working towards things that are believed to make people happy will not provide permanent happiness. It may appear that the person has everything and leave them feeling temporarily satisfied, but overall, there
The American Dream is that the ideal that every US citizen should have an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work, determination, and initiative.
When the phrase “American Dream” is uttered, it is typically associated with having money or striving to have money. The dream of much of the public is to have money and to be able to purchase anything they desire whenever they want. For some, this dream is not about money, but it is about having the opportunity to better his or herself and his or her loved ones. In either case, there are certain circumstances and obstacles that make this dream increasingly difficult to attain. Some would even be willing to argue, the American dream is unattainable. “American Dream” is defined as the concept of every citizen of the United States having an equal opportunity to achieve success and happiness through hard work, sacrifices, and risk-taking (Fontinelle);
The term “American Dream” is defined as an idea which believes that all people have the possibility of prosperity and success. The idea first came from James Adams, a noted American writer and historian. He claimed, “Life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability and achievement.” Therefore, the core concepts of the American Dream were closely linked to hard work and opportunity.
Happiness is a key to everybodys life. Even the most depressed man on earth has a little happiness deep down inside. Its what keeps us striving to fulfil our needs and wants on an everyday basis. There is not one kid who does not get excited over a dollar to spend at the candy shop. What about the feeling of getting a promotion at your job, or even finding the cure for cancer. Being happy is not just healthy, but it is also rewarding for each and every individual. We strive to find anything that will turn a bad day to a good one. Individuals will compromise to attain their happiness. You can not get what you want without giving something first.
As people of the United States, since we were first formed, we have stood up and put our hands over our hearts for those who have lost their lives for our country. We do this at many important places such as sporting events, first thing in the morning at schools, memorials, parades, etc. Over time, some of us have stopped standing and or putting our hand over our hearts and holding up fists instead. Is this a shocking issue? We, as people, are not technically required to recite the pledge, but it is socially expected. We are to live the American dream. Being free, pursuing any job and life choice that we choose. Every. Single. Day. Ever since preschool or kindergarten, we are supposed to stand up, say the pledge and do it with our hand over
Essentially, seeking happiness is necessary in life. We often hope to find happiness from other people, other things around us and forget that we can create it by ourselves. The novel “The happiness project” by Gretchen Rubin is sufficient evidence. The author states, “I am happy – but I’m not as happy as I should be.”(13) Then she started a project within a year to change her life and seek for a happier life. By making a list of things she has to do in the next twelve months, the author have done many things which affects her “Vitality” (1), her “Marriage” (38), her “Leisure” (112), her “Friendship” (141),etc. positively so that she can achieve her goal, which is a life full filed of happiness as she dreamed before. We can also do that. We know that if everyone of us set a goal and live purposely, we are all happy. However, we can be happier if we know how to change ourselves on the right way. We can make ourselves happy by doing simple things in our everyday life.
Founded in the Declaration of Independence, the American Dream has long been around as a concept that merges a series of democratic principles such as liberty, opportunity, rights and equality promoting the idea and incentivizing Americans to work hard and strive to achieve upward mobility and prosperity. American writer and historian James Truslow Adams describes the American Dream as follows "life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement" regardless of social class or circumstances of birth.” (Adams, 1931). Over time the concept became deeply ingrained into society and culture
Ultimately happiness is something everyone wants to maintain, however some ways are only temporary or don't work at all. For example, people who treasure materialistic things such as clothes, cars and money will only be happy with it for a fleeting time. Materialism has become a substantial problem in society and is one of the reasons people struggle to be constantly happy. This is because people have been taught that success is measured in the amount of money you have and the worth and collection of the things you own. We live
Without having friends, being able to analyze, and being self-sufficient then there will be no pure happiness. For example, say if you have a lot of money, but no friends your money will accumulate but as for your happiness, it will not. The opposite of this would be you have just enough money to get you by which is not much, but you have the three essentials such as friends, being able to analyze, and being self-sufficient. In this situation, your happiness will go up and you will not get any happier as the money accumulates due to the level of happiness being steady.
I believe everyone can achieve happiness. In today's society everyone thinks that you will become happier with buying new things and the more you have the happier you will be. As for me I believe that you can reach or be happy if you just think about what you already have.It's not about having a lamborghini
Happiness is hard to achieve. Some people follow several steps in order to get what they want. People have unlimited wants. However, not all the things they want can give them happiness. Like what Matthie Ricard (2007) said “Happiness is a state of inner fulfillment, not the gratification of inexhaustible desires for outward things.” (p. 31) Happiness is
Happiness can lead to a valuable life. In spite of this, your own happiness will be forgotten eventually or maybe not even remembered at all. Humans busy themselves
Happiness will never be defined; although dispiriting, it’s important that happiness not be a central idea. Happiness does not have one definition because everyone has their own definition. The path to happiness is similar to a fingerprint, so we can’t create on definition. Everyone has distinct aspirations in life, and this creates a one-in-a-million chance that people will share the same path to happiness. Despite that, I have grouped eight generalized conclusions to happiness. These conclusions are generalized because my path to happiness will never be the same as the next person. The first conclusion I have found for happiness is wealth and fame. People tend to see these direct paths to happiness; however, they are used to get things that will bring people happiness. After this, there is also religion and philosophy. Religious people are often happier than secular people. A third conclusion is that understanding that suffering and death is inevitable. Death is bliss, and while people live suffering is the way to measure how happiness. Another conclusion is understanding our personality. The world is almost a 50-50 split of introverts and extroverts, and oftentimes introverts don’t know how to be content with themselves. Understanding how people’s personalities tie into their lives can bring happiness. The fifth conclusion is people gain happiness through contentment and meaning in life. People want to be included and have a meaning in their life. The sixth conclusion is
Happiness is something we are all entitled to, and even though some people might not admit that happiness is the true purpose of life, we all naturally spend our life time making efforts trying to find happiness. People have different definitions for what they classify as being happy, for some it 's acquiring a fast convertible car, buying a house or traveling to exotic places all over the world. Bottom line true happiness has nothing to do with material things or our environment, but finding happiness that is genuine begins from within us. All the happiness that we need is within us already we just need to find a way to connect with it so that we can experience it in our daily lives. When you discover how to harness the true happiness that exists within you, you will surely radiate in all areas of your life and even people around you will start noticing how your nature transforms to a happy one.
