9/11 and the Denial of Conspiracy
Often people take things at face value without any interest in critically analyzing the authenticity of what he or she hears. 9/11 has been remembered as a day of fear and pain as thousands of families suffered losing loved ones to al-Qaeda. For four years Osama Bin Laden denied responsibility for the September 11 attacks of 2001 which mark the deadliest day on American soil in history, claiming that the current leader of the Islamic state at the time denied Osama the right to exercise the power to perform operations such as 9/11 (Avery: “Loose Change”). Though presumed the culprit, Osama denied any involvement in the incident for years before admitting in a video released by the Pentagon,

The possibility of financial gain from the event by Larry Silverstein and stock holders and the benefits of a psychological attack on the American people by the Bush Administration are what have been understood as the reasons for unrest (Avery: “Loose Change”). Though shocking evidence and explanation has been presented the majority of the American public refuses to believe in the 9/11 conspiracy or even consider it. Whether it be because of lack of interest or because of the inability to find logic in believing 9/11 was an inside job, more attention needs to be put forth at the possibility of conspiracy. By analyzing the psychological studies of commenters on 9/11 conspiracy videos, shocking results can be found that can explain why there isn’t enough interest in conspiracies. Whether it be a lack of interest due to its minimal effect on one’s personal life or a wish to avoid government attention due to a fear of getting involved in something he or she shouldn’t, there is a need to put more attention forth toward the conspiracy theory that is in plain view and easily accessible for research.
The most controversial flight in the 9/11 conspiracy, rivaled only by the disappearance of Flight 77, is the damage done to the pentagon. The first mystery surrounding this event was the impossibility of a Boeing
On September 11, 2001, 19 people hijacked four airliners and carried out suicide attacks against their targets.. Two of the planes crashed into the towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, the third plane hit the Pentagon just outside Washington, D.C., and the fourth crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. Over 3,000 people were killed during the attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C., including more than 400 police officers and firefighters. (“9/11 attacks”2010). The conspiracy theories started just days after the September 11, 2001 attack. The conspiracies were easy to spread fast when using the internet and they became more and more elaborate as time went on. The most popular 9/11 conspiracy theory is that 9/11 was orchestrated by the American government.
September 11, 2001 (herein referred to as 9/11) was a day in American history, which will be remembered as the most horrific attack on American soil. This attack, carried out by nineteen Islamic extremists, was associated with al-Qaeda, and involved the hijacking of four airplanes. Two of those airplanes were hijacked and flown directly into the World Trade Center in New York City, New York. The third plane’s target was the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and the fourth plane was brought down in Pennsylvania where it is believed the passengers aboard fought the hijackers. This horrific day in history cost over 3,000 people their lives, and was labeled the worst attack on American soil since the attack on Pearl Harbor during World War II.
Roughly 2,753 people were killed on September 11, 2001, by terrorists who overtook commercial airplanes (Jones). The cause of these thousands of deaths were a series of attacks in New York City by an Islamic terrorist group, Al-Qaeda. However, there are still many questions about what actually happened the morning of September 11, 2001. As there are many different conspiracy theories about what happened that day, 9/11 was an attack which began with Al- Qaeda hi-jacking airplanes, but ended with more questions than answers. Many questions still remain about the authenticity of cell phone calls from inside the planes, why air defense was told to “stand down,” and how three buildings imploded as the result of two buildings being struck by airplanes.
What if what you had been told your whole life was a lie? How would you feel if everything reported about a terrorist attack or a shooting was actually a conspiracy by the United States? What is a conspiracy? According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, a conspiracy is “a secret plan made by two or more people that is harmful or illegal”. There are so many conspiracy theories out there in the world starting as early as the 1800s. These theories range from scientific, terrorist, criminal, political, economic and business, and even religious conspiracies. The two conspiracy theories that I am talking about is the attack that changed the United States, as we knew it, the one that we believed was a terrorist attack, also known as 9/11, and the Sandy Hook shooting. There are multiple reasons that lead me to consider these two attacks to be something more than a terrorist and criminal attack. The reasons are because the timelines do not add up, there are too many inconsistencies, and the benefits are too great.
The events that occurred on September 11th, 2001 are some that will never be forgotten in American History. What was a beautiful day in New York City quickly turned into a American Nightmare as multiple planes where hijacked by a terrorist group by the name of Al Quida. While these events have where one of the worst tragedies in American history their also comes many conspiracies theories. Some of these theories suggest that George W. Bush knew about or even planned the tragic events that happened that day. However these conspiracierie theories are simply false. Conspiracy theories that blame the events that occurred on September 11th on the American Government are not true. Still to be able to prove these theories incorrect one must understand what exactly happened on that terrible day in New York City.
On September 11, 2001 the World Trade Center buildings one and two were attacked. However, who we were attacked by and even if we were attacked is a hard decision to make. There have been many different claims about how everything on that fateful day happened. There are facts that we know are true, though; Flight 11 flew into the North Tower at eight forty- six in the morning. Soon after, Flight 175 attacked the South Tower. By the end of the day, both towers had collapsed and other hijacked flights had caused damage. The amount of lives lost on September 11 was substantial; 2,749 people from eighty-three different countries died from the attacks (Facts about the attacks…, n.d.). All in all, America was changed forever.
On September 11, 2001, the United States experienced an attack that changed our country forever. It was reported by the New York magazine that 19 hijackers were responsible for the 2,996 deaths that day, leaving our country in shock. The official report stated that there was a total of 4 planes involved; Flight 11 crashed into the North tower, Flight 175 crashed into the South tower, Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon and Flight 93 was overthrown by passengers and later crashed into the ground in Pennsylvania. There is no doubt that this was one of the worst tragedies our country has ever experienced but many still question the truth behind it. From the discrepancies in the stories of the event, to the fault in the towers mechanics, it
On September 11, 2001 four passenger commercial jet airliners were hijacked and as a result approximately 3,000 human lives were lost. When asked about 9/11, many can recall exactly what they were doing when they heard the news that a plane crashed into one of the World Trade Center (WTC) buildings and many Americans can tell you how it all unfolded and the reason behind such a travesty. The “official story” provided by officials, and restated by Sofia Shafquat, producer of “9/11 Mysteries: Demolitions” say that “four passenger planes were hijacked and taken radically off course, within an hour, two of the planes had flown into the enormous steel towers of the World Trade Center, creating fires and eventually toppling them” (Shafquat).
The eleventh of september 2001 is a date that american citizens will never forget. On this day a horrific event that affected the lives of many, if not all, united states citizens resulting in about 3,000 deaths and numerous injuries took place. After the devastating attacks on this nation, people 's cry for truth and justice was heard loud and clear by the president of that time. Yet in response he perceived destroying valuable evidence as giving the truth, plus, a devastating-pointless war with Iraq as Justice. These are just a few things president George Bush did to hide the fabrications in his story about the air attacks on the tallest buildings in the world. However, as we find out more about that day, and uncover more of his lies, we can only draw one conclusion. Americas very own forty-third president, George W Bush is responsible for the multiple attacks on september eleventh.
This has led conspiracist to think that the initial story of 9/11 is nothing but a theory to cover the government's actions. Leading the public to believe that hijackers took control and crashed planes into three buildings. “...carefully collected and analyzed evidence” proves the crash
The official story of 9/11 is a conspiracy theory in that the government claims 19 hijackers conspired together to hijack four planes and create terror in the world. Four American airplanes were hijacked; two were driven into the World Trade Centers and the third airplane into the Pentagon. The fourth airplane suspected target was the White House, but it was diverted by the brave men and women aboard that hijacked airplane, and crashed the airline jet before it could reach its target. It was like time stood still as America watched through television broadcast these unbelievable and horrifying events taking place. The reports told of the smell the jet fuel, burning flesh, and people jumping out windows to their death to escape the flames.
The September 11 attacks were tragic events that had spread shockwaves of horror and grief across the United States. The tragedy became the subject of controversy as some skeptics began to doubt the details reported to have transpired that day. Some people question its legitimacy, theorizing that the Bush administration devised and orchestrated the attacks to further its agenda. Filmmaker Dylan Avery discusses and promotes this prevalent conspiracy theory in his documentary, Loose Change 9/11: An American Coup. Avery argues that the government possessed foreknowledge of the attacks by comparing them to precedents of similar situations. He challenges the official explanations and provides his analyzations of evidence from the reports and media. Avery effectively appeals to pathos, ethos, and logos in his film, but his compelling argument is ultimately undermined by fallacies.
American Airlines Flight 77 The Boeing 757-223 was hijacked by five men affiliated with al-Qaeda on September 11, 2001, flew into the western side of the Pentagon at 9:37 EDT killing all 64 people on board, 125 people in the building and the five
Relating to politics and various researches and how they connect with the human mind that is a free, irrational agent. Targeting the American people and more specifically the users of the internet. The author gets into discussing the question of why conspiracy theories are prevalent and some reasoning behind it, “There are nearly as many explanations of conspiracy theories as there are theories themselves, but some patterns do appear again and again.” The author informs the audience on their beliefs as to why conspiracy theories are accepted by many in a sense of wanting to protect the reader. Giving the gist behind conspiracy theories, but it also is an opportunity to go on and further explain to people his reasoning with a helpful sense. Which makes the article credible through his use of studies from advanced groups to back up his argument and statements, “By significant margins, those who tested high on the need to be special or were primed to feel that way by writing the essay were also more inclined to believe in various conspiracy theories.” It provides the reader with understanding how on a psychological level these theories are easy to believe. It aids in answering why people believe in these theories while giving us another viewpoint too. Through the use of studies it can
Everyone can remember, vividly in their mind, where they were on September 11th, 2001. Fourteen years later, and even though I was in third grade, at the time, I clearly remember the day. The September 11th attacks (9/11) were a series of coordinated terrorist attacks which targeted symbolic United States’ landmarks. Islamic terrorist group, al-Qaeda, hijacked planes and crashed them into these landmarks- The World Trade Center’s Twin Towers and The Pentagon being two of the biggest. These events left almost three thousand people dead. It is a tragic day, which we solemnly reflect on every year (History.com Staff 1). The details and the attack, itself, are shocking and devastating. However, with every day in age, what tends to be most striking, is how the media handled the event and how the media landscape was transformed.
