Introduction
The art of teaching involves different styles and methods of instructing. An educator’s ability to apply effective instructional strategies should understand how students learn. There is no single learning approach or style that works for every student.(Cetin) This paper will reflect upon my observation and participation during my field experience and demonstrate how it relates to the concepts of course material studied during this semester, “EDUC 2130, Exploring Teaching and Learning”.

Lanier Technical College Wood’s Mill Adult Education Center My field experience placement during Educational Psychology was at Wood’s Mill Adult Education Center. Wood’s Mill Adult Education Center is an extension of Lanier Technical College. The Adult Education Program is a free instructional program specifically designed for adult learners age sixteen and older, who have not graduated from high school. The services provided at Wood’s Mill Adult Education Center include literacy instruction, basic skills, General Education Development (GED) preparation, English as a Second Language (ESOL) and American citizenship classes. Classes are held Monday thru Thursday in the morning and evening. Morning classes begin at 9:00 am and end at 12 noon. Evening classes begin at 5:30 pm and end at 8:30 pm. I chose to conduct my field experience during the morning class session and was given the opportunity to observe two different courses. The first day I was
Students have their own best way in effectively learning the lesson. With the diversity of students, the problem is each student has a preferred learning style. It becomes undeniably one of the reasons that make it difficult to achieve the best expected outcome out of teachers’ effort. However, teachers try to incorporate various teaching techniques to make every learning opportunity become productive, meaningful, and relevant for the learners.
In the practice of teaching, it is the responsibility of a teacher not only to teach students subject matter, but to teach students in order to enable them to grow and develop as a person. While it is essential for students to have an understanding of academic material, it is also equally as important that when students finish their education they have skills to use in
Lurking within many courses, you will find a variety of teachers and teaching methods as you attempt to traverse the complexities. You must understand, the people in these hallowed halls control your todays and many of your tomorrows. Early on, practice the art of respecting every authoritative figure, even those who present impediments in your path to survival. They may hold your behavior and grades hostage, making it nearly impossible for you to pass or achieve your goals. It is their very nature to challenge you
The greatest struggle in our educational system is the lack of educators that are willing to activate the students’ interest in the subject. Instead of increasing the students’ motivation to learn, students are being presented with material that is meaningless to them. I believe that effective teaching starts by presenting students with material that seems relevant to them. Presenting fresh ideas to students increases their motivation. Breaking the monotone routine makes students willing to explore new content. It is the teacher’s responsibility to provide students with some motivation that augments the students’ willingness to learn a topic. Learning is a step by step process that will not occur over night. This process requires great effort from both the teacher and the
Teaching requires a combination of both the subject knowledge and an understanding of effective practice for it to be effective within the classroom. From my own experience out on the school serial days, one of the main things I noticed was that teaching involved a whole lot more than just teaching the curriculum to the pupils. All students have different methods of learning and within the classroom there is a wide range of abilities. So it is the teacher’s responsibility to ensure that all students are given the opportunity to reach their full potential, in order for them to be truly effective practitioners.
Teaching is a professional practice that must, wherever possible, leave the four walls of a classroom, as higher education is a process of not only scientific and academic qualification but also of individual formation as a human being, social and professional agent. In this context, and more than ever, teaching must explore and work in a way to broaden the diverse competences of the human being in its three main levels of development: knowledge, expertise, and knowhow, considering the student as much autonomous as possible.
Due to these learning strategies that I have employed previously, I will be more likely to incorporate these learning strategies in my teaching as these were previously successful for me. However, although these strategies were successful for me, it may not be successful for other students and therefore it could be a hindrance to my development as an effective teacher as I will need to overcome the hurdle to identify the different learning strategy and style of different students and develop my teaching style to suit the needs of the students rather than incorporating my previous learning strategies into my teaching blindly. It will also be important for me to develop a variety of teaching techniques in order to promote interest in students, inclusive and engaging learning environment, and both collaborative and autonomous learning opportunities for

The purpose of this assignment is for me to demonstrate that I can identify and discuss the significance of relevant theories and principles of learning and communication; select and critically analyse the impact of two theories of learning on the planning and delivery of teaching in my own setting; and reflect on the impact that these insights have had on my own practice and professional development.
Throughout school I have had difficulty with certain teaching styles and learning environments, these difficulties were challenging, but they forced me to turn to alternative study methods to ensure my success. I sought the help of other teachers as well as re-taught myself the material that I did not grasp in the first place. In part to these challenges I decided to go in to the teaching profession to help student, like myself, who learn in different ways rather than traditional methods. I hope that with my unique perspective
Teaching has always been a desired career option for myself, more importantly, being an art teacher. With anything, there are pros and cons to my predetermined thesis. I consider myself an artist before I see myself as a teacher, this may be one of the biggest faults in my career choice or one of my greatest advantages in the world of education. The balance between teaching and art may be a difficult obstacle to overcome. From my overwhelming love of the arts to my loathing of school standardization, teaching is a serious career move that I need to evaluate.
Wood’s Mill Adult Learning Center is located in a small annex pod behind the Gainesville High School 9th Grade Academy. This location offers classes to assist adult learners in earning a GED. They offer Reading and Math classes, as well as open computer lab time to use the GED software to study. Classes are offered in the day and evening. Once a student has committed to the program they must adhere to the attendance policy or they risk being removed from the class.
The purpose of this essay is to show an understanding of the main learning theories. This assessment will allow the chance to begin applying these theories in a classroom setting by using an essay that analyses teaching practice within classroom. By looking further into the statement ‘Effective teachers need a range of strategies to ensure that students learn’. Critically using personal beliefs about learning as well as teaching to reflect on these beliefs as well as considering their influence of developmental factors within the classroom, to show that it is vital for a fully working classroom. For a teacher to have a variety of strategies so their student s learns as effective as possible.
I think that teaching requires both art and science. They both play a role on each other, because if a teacher only demonstrates one of these types of teaching, their classroom will most likely be very boring.
Learning is best for students whenever their teacher applies emotion, gives them the requisite support and challenges them. It is through such process that students gain in-depth learning and thus discover their values, abilities, passions as well as responsibilities in learning situations that provide adventure. In most school lessons, students undertake tasks that require them to use their creativity, self-discipline and craftsmanship. It is thus the work of the teacher to assist the students discover their hidden abilities and overcome their fears in applying their knowledge to classroom and job problems through in-depth teaching practice.
