This creates more business for the alcohol and tobacco industries of the United States. The bureau also assists local, state, and other Federal law enforcement and tax agencies to make sure that the trafficking of illegal alcohol and tobacco is thoroughly monitored on all levels of government (ATF, 1). The bureau has also decreased tax revenue loss to the United States by regulating online cigarette sales. The passing of the Jenkins Act has played a crucial part in the monitoring of online cigarette sales. The Jenkins Act requires any person who sells and ships cigarettes across a state line to a buyer, other than a licensed distributor, to report the sale to the buyer’s state tobacco tax administrator. The act establishes misdemeanor penalties for violation. Compliance with this federal law by cigarette sellers enables states to collect cigarette excise taxes from consumers. However, some state and federal officials are concerned that as internet cigarette sales continue to grow, particularly as states’ cigarette taxes increase, so will the amount of lost state tax revenue due to noncompliance with the Jenkins Act (Wikipedia, 6). The second division of the bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives deals with firearms. The Bureau is responsible for regulating firearm commerce in the United States. The ATF also recognizes the role that firearms play in violent crimes and pursues an integrated regulatory and enforcement strategy. Enforcement
"I'm going to lose a lot of business," deli owner Wadah Arbuya told CBS New York. "I'm going to get hurt big time. Half my sales of cigarettes is between 18 and 21." If this legislation is making a large impression on a deli owner, it will substantially impact those owners of smoke shops, selling predominately all tobacco products.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is the third largest police agency in the United States. The LAPD has approximately 9885 sworn officers and 2718 support staff. The LAPD also addresses the needs of the community by setting up many stations to handle the needs of their constituents. The LAPD also has a support unit to manage the day to day operation such as the personal division, jail division, property division and administrative section to manage massive bureaucratic tasks.
The New Jersey State Police does not experience much turnover. However, within a twenty-five year career, a trooper’s attitude, and how that attitude relates to job satisfaction and output can be measured. While a trooper with 10-15 years experience may be distrustful of command staff, junior troopers (those with 1-5 years) are viewed as zealots. Junior troopers are productive and engaged in their field. A trooper’s job satisfaction can be measured by his/her’s perceived organizational support. Job satisfaction has a direct correlation to employee engagement and perceived organizational support.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is a law enforcement agency in the United States’ Department of Justice. Accordingly, the bureau’s primary mission is to safeguard the public from the most violent criminals and organized criminal enterprises through the enforcement of the United States federal firearms laws. In furtherance of this responsibility, ATF provides management and oversight for the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) network, a national database of interconnected automated ballistics imaging system terminals. While NIBIN has been in existence since 2003, the program being assessed was consequently established and formalized in 2014.
The National firearm act of 1934 regulating only fully automatic firearms like sub-machine guns is approved by Congress. Then Roosevelt wins approval of the National Firearms Act of 1938, which requires the licensing of interstate gun dealers, who must record their sales. It prohibits sales to individuals under accusation or convicted of crimes of violence. The Gun Control Act of 1968 was passed for the purpose of keeping firearms out of the hands of those not legally permitted to possess them because of age, criminal background, or incompetence. In 1972 the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms is created listing as part of its mission the control of illegal use and sale of firearms and the enforcement of Federal firearms laws. The Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act enforces a five-day waiting period on the purchase of a handgun and requires that local law enforcement agencies conduct background checks on purchasers of handguns. This came as a shocking change of opinion, as; the President had already announced his objection to the banning of the weapons. The rifle import ban permitted the continuation of selling and the production of the American AR-15 as well as the sale of both Israeli and Chinese semi-auto rifles that were already inside U.S. warehouses. At this time, the Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy William Bennet moved to enforce this rifle import ban throughout all government agencies. It was due to the rise of requests

Bush signed into law the Homeland Security Act of 2002. In addition to the creation of the Department of Homeland Security, the law shifted ATF from the Department of the Treasury to the Department of Justice. The agency's name was changed to Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. However, the agency still was referred to as the "ATF" for all purposes. Additionally, the task of collection of federal tax revenue derived from the production of tobacco and alcohol products and the regulatory function related to protecting the public in issues related to the production of alcohol, previously handled by the Bureau of Internal Revenue as well as by ATF, was transferred to the newly established Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), which remained within the Treasury Department.
