Ariel Castro grew up in an abusive household with divorced parents. Later down the line when he married his wife, he became abusive to her. Eventually she divorced him, taking custody of their children, and not ending in his favor. Which lead to even more repressed rage and sorrow from Castro, Making him more depressed and lonely. To his upbringings and abusive relationship with his wife, Castro seemed to have a loose interpretation of morality.
On the day of the first kidnapping; Michelle Knight was on her way to the courthouse for a child custody case involving her son, which is when she crossed paths with Castro. Castro offered to give her a ride

Castro viewed his victims as a family dynamic with different roles: Michelle was viewed as a grandmother figure who was to help raise the child (evidenced by Castro making her miscarry multiple times), Amanda was viewed as a mother figure (as she’s the biological mother of the daughter), and Gina who was viewed as a daughter or sister (as she was the youngest, and least sexually abused), and Castro viewing himself as the father …show more content…
Having his victims act as members of the family unbeknownst to the child (who, at the time, wouldn’t understand Castro’s true nature and intensions). Additionally, Castro was not only focused on his “family” but the families of his victims; Castro inserted himself into neighborhood searches for Amanda and Gina, trying to lower any suspicions or possibility of suspicion, as he pretended that he too was looking for the missing girls.
However, Castro was finally caught in 2013, 11 years after his first kidnapping. He was caught when he accidentally left the door slightly open, allowing Amanda to call for help; Nearby neighbors ran to her aid by kicking open the door and helping her out, 911 was quickly called and police were shortly dispatched. When police arrived they entered Castro’s home finding Michelle and Gina upstairs, and shortly after that Castro was hunted down and taken into custody.
In court, Castro was charged with multiple accounts of kidnapping and rape, Castro insisted that he was a good person, and that he was not a monster; insisting that the sex was consensual. But against all his pleading, he was sentenced to life in prison without parole. And to Michelle, Amanda, and Gina: this was due punishment, with Amanda telling Castro that the torture he inflicting on her can be forgiven, but not
Castro’s revolution was a complete turnaround for the government of Cuba. Under Batista (Cuba's leader at the time), four thousand workers' retirement funds were embezzled. In 1959, when he was overthrown, Castro began implementing various methods of socialist reform. “We will eventually give you what you need, but rather - Here you have it, fight for it with all your might so that liberty and happiness may be yours!” (Carey, Jr. 37). His main goal in his regime was to establish a socialist society in Cuba. At first, he wanted
The victim precipitation theory, The lifestyle theory, deviant place theory, and routine activity theory. The routine activity theory fit this case, because I feel that Ariel Castro was familiar with Amanda Berry daily routine. I feel that as if he watched her to know the routes that she took when walking home from work. More than likely, Castro plan to attack Amanda Berry, it didn’t just happen. I pick this routine activity theory to, because Amanda was a easy target in this situation. Ariel seen a young girl that he thought he could take advantage of, and that is how he lured her into his vehicle. After being captive so long with Castro he had Amanda Berry brain wash. Another theory that fits this case is the deviant place theory. This theory specifies that area that he kidnapped Amanda from which was not a good neighborhood. In areas like this crime rate is high and crimes is more than likely to happen on a consistent
While Herminio was in prison, Cuesta told him about the night of an abortive raid against Castro. After his story, Diaz uttered words that Cuesta would always remember. When sharing his story, Martinez said “Herminio confessed to Tony Cuesta that he had taken part in the death of the US president.” Many years later, in Florida, Reinaldo heard the same evidence from another person, a fellow Cuban exile, Remigio Arce, who said, “Listen, the one who killed the president was our little friend.” Investigative writer Anthony Summers believes that what Martinez is the truth. “Martinez struck me – after two days of tough interviewing of a man in his eighties – as someone with nothing to gain, who appeared to be credible.” Diaz seems to be the killer, he was a known political assassin, a marksman and an employee for Santo Trafficante, one of the two suspects in the assassination. He was also involved with one of the more dangerous and extreme anti-Castro groups. “The Mafia had every motive to do away with President Kennedy because they were being pursued as never before by the government. At the same time, a large part of the anti-Castro movement felt betrayed by Kennedy. It [Diaz] is an important development that should be taken seriously.” Hermino Diaz, one of the great crack shots for the Cubans, has been labeled as one of the deadliest Cuban political assassins, and therefore can be seen a point in how the Cubans killed President Kennedy.
Ernesto Miranda was arrested for kidnapping and raping a woman. As a result, Miranda was interrogated and eventually confessed to committing the crime. This confession was then in turn used against him during trial, which lead to him being found guilty.
Castro was a socialist, a leninist and a marxist. His attitude throughout his “dictatorship” was the way he communicated with the United States on military, trading agreements and politics. As he came to control the country, he made the promise to maintain the Cuban constitution of 1940, a constitution which guaranteed certain individual rights to the citizens of Cuba. Also stating that all of the governmental representatives would be held exactly a year from the day he took control. Despite not actually being in office, Castro was the most important force in regards to the post Batista Government. His full control of the country came when the former prime minister Miro Cardona resigned after a month of work with Castro.
In 1959, Fidel Castro led a group of rebel forces to end and overthrow Fulgencio Batista’s regime in an effort to free the Cuban people from his tyrannous rule. For very many different political reasons this has been portrayed as an act of great injustice and hypocrisy in the modern world. A lot of this has of course been advocated primarily by the US due to the high level of political tension between the two nations that developed in the mid 1950s. Believing this conventional wisdom that Castro was simply an evil communist who oppressed his people and stripped them of their human rights is very dangerous because it
In the article I have found that throughout the rule of Fidel Castro he has proven to be a very poor leader that turned many of his citizens away from him. During his rule in Cuba he did many controversy actions that caused Cubans to flee to America, his family to leave him, and blockades to be put on him.

Fidel Castro dominated in regards to defeating the legislature of Cuban dictator. American sensitivity dissolved quit quick, Although, when Premier Castro started to act and sound like a communist dictator. He neglected to hold the free electoral polls, that he had guaranteed the Cuban citizens. He put to death several of his previous political competitors in nasty trials expected more as publication than as legal procedures. At that point he continued to fill Cuban prisons yet again with political commentators, including a large portion of Castro's previous acquaintances, against communist work pioneers, and other veteran opponents of the Batista administration. The press was strictly being watched. foreign claimed property was taken impulsively without reasonable pay, and maybe with no pay at all. only the communists came out unscathed from Castro's severe and vindictive
The first victim he abducted was Michelle Knight she was abducted on August 23, 2002 she was 21 years old. She was on her way to a social services meeting regarding custody of her son Joey. But she wasn’t sure what direction to go so she went to the Family Dollar to try to get change so she could make a call. The Family Dollar wasn’t able to give her change Castro overheard her conversation and said he knew where to go and that he’d give her a ride. She accepted his offer because she knew his daughter Emily during the ride she told him he was going the wrong way and he said he was going to his house so she could get a puppy for her son. Earlier she had mentioned that her son loved puppies and that his had recently passed away. They also had a conversation about his son Ariel Castro Jr being an ex-employee at Burger King and that she knew some of his other kids too. When they arrived at his house he told her the puppies were upstairs as she was going upstairs she realized that this was a mistake and she’d be there forever because it was too silent. When she got into the room where he said the puppies were he walked in and shut the door he said he wouldn’t keep her there for long and that he wouldn’t harm her if she did what he said. Since she was 21 years old the police didn’t conduct an extensive investigation and her family didn’t file one because they had assumed she ran away because she couldn’t handle the drama in her life. In 2003 the FBI took her off the America’s Most Wanted list because her family hadn’t filed a missing person’s report. During her captivity she became pregnant 5 times and he made he miscarry by punching her in the stomach and starving her. She has now changed her name to Lily Rose Lee. A year later he abducted Amanda Berry on April 21, 2003 she was 16 years old. She got off work early at Burger King, so she

He was later taken to the police station where witnesses identified him. Miranda was then given a piece a paper that asked for his formal confession. When Miranda refused to sign the paper, he was then interrogated by
Ariel Castro suffered through wicked torture at the hands of his mother and neighbor. According to two articles, Castro was sexually and physically abused as child. “I was a victim of sex acts when I was a child. This led me to viewing pornography for my whole life” (USA Today), “…Mother physically abused him by striking him with ‘belts, sticks and an open
November, 1962, a male suspect robbed a woman at knife-point after forcing his way into her car. The same suspect, four months later, abducted an 18-year-old girl, also at knife-point, after restraining her and driving out to a deserted area of the desert and raped her. In March of 1963, 23-year-old Ernest Arthur Miranda was arrested as a suspect in both crimes. Miranda who had a prior arrest record consisting
Fidel Castro and the M-26-7 successfully seized power of Cuba’s government in 1959, after years of fighting. The M-26-7’s nationalist movement was able to knock the corrupt leader, Fulgencio Batista, out of power, and in 1961 Castro deemed the revolution to be officially of a Marxist nature. Throughout his 40-year stay as president, Castro has not allowed his revolution to stall, but rather he has allowed it to progress and adapt as he has seen fit. In relation with Castro’s revolution in Cuba has been another revolution, that of the Cuban women. Castro himself described the changes in women’s public and private lives as "a revolution within a revolution". In a true system of equality, as in the one Castro holds as his ideal, equality
